Purchased for tandem axle trailer under my 20' Champion bass boat. Tow vehicle is a Ford F350 Crew Cab w/ long bed.

Overall the system works well aside from a few minor useability issues. Sensor installation in the rims (or finding a good installer) can be an issue. I had the snesors installed by Discount Tire because they also sell these. However, my local store had never installed them. I had to supervise the sensor installation in/on the rims which is esssential to proper function.

I had to utilize the extended antenna (included in the kit) for the receiver to consistently receive signal from the sensors. The extended antenna may not be needed on a shorter truck/trailer combos. My rig is longer than most typical truck/bass boat rigs.

My biggest complaint: The old-school LED dosplay is not bright enough. The pressure/temp reading is impossible to read when sun is hitting the display. You must mount the receiver/display somewhere the sun doesn't hit it which really limits flexibility.

Would also like to see a better option for surface-mounting in the dash since I will be using the system very often. The antenna jack and windshield mount connection protrudes from the back which makes it difficult for a flush mount of any kind on the face of the dash.

The display's power is supplied by a mini-USB port that is not standard in terms of power -- the TPMS display runs on a full 12v whereas mini-USB is a 5v standard. This is dangerous if you have cell-phone etc that uses standard mini-USB for charging because it will instantly fry standard mini-USB powered devices if accidentally connected. Luckily, most current cell phones, portable GPS', etc. have moved to the micro-USB interface which reduces this risk.

Other than the minor concerns above, I would give this system a 10 accross the board.

I bought this TPMS for my single axle boat trailer after experiencing what its like to lose a tire at highway speed... I hope never to relive that experience.

I opted to hard-wire the display unit to my fuse box as well as use the included long antenna. Both of those decisions were to afford aesthetic appeal. In hindsight, since towing the boat is only one of many things I do with my truck, maybe this was overkill. Anyway, it was easy to do so why not?

The unit operates as advertised, and the sensors and valve stems appeared to be of high quality. I had no trouble programming the unit to monitor @65PSI instead of its default 35PSI. Seeing the green colored number in my peripheral line of sight puts me at ease while driving, and I find myself much more relaxed while driving. Cheap insurance, for sure.

Two design decisions made me rate that factor at an 8, rather than 10. First, there is no on/off button. That means that if you're hard-wired like me, the display unit is always on. (It reads zero PSI when no trailer is in tow. Perhaps a 6 tire unit would have suited my application better? 4 sensors in the tow rig itself?) Second, there is no way to remove a tire from the display. In my single axle setup I'm using 3 sensors, the 3rd being used for the spare. Removing the unused receiver chip results in "---" being displayed, which is OK, but not perfect. For me, perfect would be if the unit just skipped over that position.

Anyway, I would buy this unit again and will recommend it to others. It's certainly of much higher quality than the kind that screw over existing valves. Customer support is also excellent. (I wrote them an e-mail to ask about a 3-tire setup before purchasing.)

Oh, I'll also add that the hardest part of the install was trying to get my trailer tires all at the same [cold] PSI. I have a compressor and a nice inflation tool with an accurate gauge, but I still found myself incessantly tweaking to get all 3 tires within 1 PSI of each other.

This is an Awsome Product! My opinion it or somthing like it should be used on every car, truck, tractor, and trailer on the road or off. I think it would prevent hundreds if not thousands of accidents a year!!!

The tires that I bought reflect the test results and make my truck handle like a sports car.    Read More
