So far, dust free and working great. The stock brakes were adequate and these surpass the stock pads by quite a bit. Good pedal feel and control. I like the responsiveness and linear feel of the brakes. Much improved over stock.

This braking combination was a replacement for the worn out stock rotors and stock Lexus ceramic pads. The Brembo rotors work perfectly, are cost effective, high quality, and made in Italy. The Akebono ceramic pads perform well and are quite, as expected by Lexus owners. This Lexus sedan stops like it is right out of the showroom once again.

Akebono cermaic pads greatly reduced dust, virtually zero dust. No noise or squeal. Powerslot rotors have quicker bite than stock, less susceptible to rain or moisture slowing response. Excellent combination.

Rotors: Power Slot Cryo-Treated Rotor

January 18, 2009

I''ve tried all kinds of brake pads and rotors on my car. I''ve finally got it down. The front factory rotors and pads sucked, because they would always go out. Not because I drive like a maniac, but because I would put four or five passengers in the car in San Francisco, and the hills would kill them. I''d resurface the rotors, but they would just go bad again. I started trying aftermarket performance parts, and WOW! They are cheaper than Honda OEM, provide superior stopping power, and last longer. After using EBC rotors + pads, Hawk pads, Power Slot Cryo-Treated rotors, and now these pads... I''ve decided that these pads work the best for me. I also think that the Power Slot Cryo-Treated rotors are the best. These pads are quieter, last longer, and produce less dust than any others I''ve tried. I switched back to OEM pads with these rotors only to re-discover that Honda messed up on the design of the front brakes on my car. The pads did not last, and then I went to these. These last way longer. I''ll admit that the Hawk pads provided better stopping power, but they only lasted about as long as the OEM pads, which are worse than any other car I''ve owned (including other Honda s). Now, I will only buy these as replacements.

I had Hawk HPS pads on before, and those pads were horrid when cold. I would accidently blow the stop sign by my house cause the initial bite was terrible. However, when I installed the ProACT, that completely went away.

These pads put out waaay less dust than the Hawk HPS, while having orders of magnitude better initial bite. While the Hawks felt like they had better bite once they warmed up, it only seemed marginally better. I ll take the better initial bite anyday, as sometimes the Hawks would scare me, especially if you are cruising on the freeway (especially in the rain), and you go to hit the brakes after about 20 minutes of non-use. Almost felt like the brakes didn t work on initial application.

The ProACT does NOT suffer that problem. Fantastic pads in my opinion. I now have them on almost all my cars now.

Noticeably less dust than the OEM brakes, while the brake feel and performance seem to be about the same as OEM. Good deal to me =)

These pads met my expectations for very good aftermarket replacement pads for stock applications. I wanted good stopping power with low dust and quiet operation. These pads performed very well with stock rotors and a few miles of bedding. While probably not for the younger crowd looking for max brake performance at any cost. These are excellent upgrades for stock setups. I just wish the Street performance grade was available for rear brake applications.

You''ll notice the bite when you make those abrupt stops. I got these Akebono ceramic pads with new shims and used brake quiet (blue stuff). They still had a "clack" noise every time I applied the brakes. After a few hundred miles, the noise was less annoying. These pads have less dust like Hawk street pads, but have a better bite under emergency situations. Hawk street pads would almost let me slip past a yellow light. With the Akebono''s, once they are broken-in, the harder you brake, the harder it will stop. Make sure to properly break them in, and not to "ride the brakes" (which is a bad habit when breaking-in new brakes). When compared to OE pads, the performance of the Akebono Ceramic pads is a bit more controlled and you don''t get the sticky black dust on your nice wheels.

Ever since buying this vehicle in 1999 (new), I''ve had problems with the front brake rotors warping and thus vibrating when ever I applied the brakes. This occurred conistently after every 10,000 - 15,000 miles (despite having over 60% wear left on the pads. I would put up with it until I could no longer stand it (i.e. about another 10,000 miles), and then have the pads replaced and resurface or replace the rotors(even though I still had 30+% wear left on the pads) .... - aside- just hate it when a manufacturer under engineers a brake set-up.

Then I tried the Power Slot Cryo Treated Rotors with the Akebono ProACT Ceramic Pads, and have not had a problem for 28,000 miles. I broke them in exactly the way the manufacturer recommends per the write up they send with the pads - only takes about 5 minutes on a road where traffic is very light. The pads are now worn to about 50% wear left, which is also substantially better than anything I experienced previously. This set up was well worth the extra money I paid, and I will definitely do it again when the time comes.

I don''t know whether the pads or the rotors separately would have solved my rotor warping problem, but together they''re definitely the right combination.

Definite upgrade from stock Honda pads and rotors. Minimal brake dust. Much better brake feel and seem to be wearing better as well. TireRack jumped through some hoops for me to special order rear rotors (did not stock) to match fronts. Very satisfied.
