I bought this rotors in combination with Akebono ACT866 ProACT Ultra-Premium to replace my 1 year 7 month old Duralast-R1 Concepts Premium rotors(drilled/slotted)set-up; just installed both of them today. I did so as I started to feel some rattling during stopping and accelerating during cold runs, and plus I m not going to chance some bad brakes on my car. While the aesthetics may not be as appealing, I do all my driving in Honolulu and the weather doesn t really get bad for me and I don t drive a high-powered car, so plain rotors and pads from reputable companies will do just fine. I cant give an accurate rating on the "Fade Resistance" and "Dust on Wheels" yet, as I have just installed them, but I will post a update in about 2 months.

A Sienna van is no race car for sure but I always dreaded driving "the van" from the day we got it. The wive loves it so it stays. The killer combination that seems to solve many of it past ills is the Akebono ProAct ceramic pads, the Centric high carbon rotors and the Goodyear Assurance Comfortrend tires. WOW! It drives better than it did when it was new! I don t even mind driving the van now. Crazy. Don t tell anyone.

These pads are ultra quiet.

I had my brakes replaced about a year ago at the shop and they squealed badly and no solution could be found. I was told that imports sometimes squeal. I asked for new pads and was told that would not fix the problem.

I bought the Akebono pads and replaced the old pads in about 15 minutes. The squeal went away immediately. I haven t put a lot of miles on them, but stopping power around the city has been great

I have been using these brake pads on my vehicle since 2007. I got 40,000 miles on the first front set and rears have 60,000 miles on them. The rears still have more than 80% of pad still left. I am a Police Fleet Service Manager and this is the only pad we have seen to last more than 20,000 miles on a Police interceptor (average pads last 10-12K miles) that sees 80% city driving. Yes they are expensive, but they are worth it. We have also noticed that they stop shorter than the other pads we have used including the OEM pads.

I purchased the centric rotors and akebono pads combo to combat warped front rotors. They definitely work better than stock. The pads have good initial bite and are much more fade resistant. I don t drive like Mario Andretti so this combination works just fine. No more vibrating steering wheel/front end under moderate or heavy braking!

I installed these myself, cleaned up the rotors with emery cloth, then installed pads. My Civic had TERRIBLE brakes stock. It felt like I had wood for pads/brakes, now they feel very good. Very happy with these pads.

Despite the low mileage on the crossover, the OEM rotors started to generate vibration at any speed when brake was applied. It was particularly disturbing while at high speeds, so I replaced the rotors to Power Slot Alloy Cryo-treated rotors and pads to Akebono ProACT ceramic pads. I am happy with the rotors, and I expect them to be more resistant to warping than stock. However, the Akebono pads don t have the same "grip" that the OEM pads did. I have to press the pedal more forcefully to achieve similar deceleration as before. My wife observed the same issue and mentioned it to me without me asking or mentioning it, so I am not the only one disturbed by this. Now, I don t know if this means the braking distance is also reduced or not (it most probably is) but I am not particularly happy with this outcome. Particularly, since I actually asked this very question to a Tire Rack representative before purchasing the pads who assured me that the pads would provide stronger braking than OEM. I generally have high regard for Tire Rack, but I am displeased with the misinformation and the final outcome. I hope I won t have to make any emergency stops in the near future, and I will replace these pads with the stock pads that Mazda supplies probably sooner than the Akebono pads will need to be. It is probably worth mentioning that the Car and Driver Magazine had rated the stock brakes on the CX-9 as excellent. The shoes that the rotor/pad combination I fitted on the CX-9 supposed to fill were rather large to begin with. So keep this in mind when you read this review. And if you own a CX-9, using OEM will be a good option.

I put on this combination of the Akebono pads and Brembo rotors on the front wheels of my Camry in 2007. They re now ready to come off, at 99,000 miles of use without a problem. The pads still have a fair amount of life, but I ve recently started getting some pedal pulsing during high speed braking. I m assuming the rotors have worn thin enough to have warped a little. I can t say enough good about these pads/rotors -- good pedal feel, no brake noise, almost no brake dust, and good stopping power. Needless to say, I ll stick with this combination in the future.

the Akebono ProACT Ceramic Pads are an awesome improvement over the OEM stock alternatives for a few bucks more. Installed Fall of 08 and they re still going strong, just inspected and I have a lot of pad left, granted I dont brake hard or drive that much. The rotors I bought are rusting on the insides but I need to brake harder as the truck sits outside and I live in Northern IL. Mechanic advised to brake harder to clear the rust build up off. The pads are really quiet compared to the OEMs. Fade Resistance is hard for me to gauge with my truck. Pads leave virtually no dust, and I m very happy with them.

This setup can overwhelm the stock size tires, even if the stopping Gs don t begin to approach what my 2003 Evo with a similar setup & Goodridge G-Stop braided stainless steel brake lines, in feel or performance, what an upgrade from what I started out with!

The squealing in the morning when backing out of the garage is a deal breaker for these. They are excellent in lack of dust and overall braking performance. G35s have enough issues with creaky suspensions without adding a long squeal in the morning too.

I am rating this for normal street driving, not heavy mountain driving or track use. They do demonstrate some fade after REPEATED heavy use (65-0 full pedal) I am an experienced track driver and would not use these on a track, but they are PERFECT for my wife s Lexus and they don t squeek and more importantly...NO DUST! The fronts look and STAY as clean as the rears! Plus they come with the shims installed and with a foil pack of grease. That makes the installation much cleaner, faster, and easier!

The Akebono pads on the front are a definite improvement in all areas over the original pads. The car brakes better, remains more stable under heavy braking and doesn t have the dust issue that the original pads had. The ATE rotors look good, fit perfectly and will hopefully wear better than the original rotors. The ATE rotor finish seems very durable. The rear pads were replaced with Hawk performance pads which work well also.

I bought these after heard my brakes wore down to 1mm. as we all know infiniti has problems with brakes so turned to aftermarket. the Holman dealership in cherry hill, nj charged me 1000$ to install their product and and wouldn t install mine. also charged me to flush out brake fluid which they say is causing my calipers to cease. i took the car to my trusted mechanic up in NYC and had brakes installed for 200$ and had calipers cleaned. no they are as good as new and better stopping power than the old set. I wouldn t say this combination gives you the best stoping power ( as i test drove the 2011 G37 and that car had serious stopping power) but it should last a lot longer than the nissan parts. I m happy. I ll post another review if there s any problem with the brakes and let you guys know.

I decided it was time for new pads when I noticed very abrupt stopping accompanied by an increasingly loud squeal every time I touched the brakes. The reviews on this website helped me choose the Akebono ProAct Ceramic pads, and because my stock rotors were warped, I also chose to replace them at the same time. I chose to go with the ATE Premium One slotted rotor, and with the Akebono's, I couldn' t be more pleased. Breaking is smooth, not abrupt and grabby, and the squeal is completely eliminated. I can feel a certain sponge-like property when applying the brakes, a quality I actually don t mind.

I bought these based on the reviews here. I wanted what the package said: Ultra Quiet, Ultra Low Dust and OEM. I only got 1 out of 3. (Quiet) I had 166,000 on the original pads, with plenty of pad left. But I thought that I should change them since I had so many miles. The worst part of these pads are the black dust that come from them. The second worst is not getting the mileage out of them.

I am now going back to the pads I pulled out to replace them with these, and will run them and replace them based on pad thickness. At 166,000 miles on them (OEM) before replacing them with over 4mm of pad left, I m thinking I can go another 25,000 miles. At that time I will replace them with new original pads only and not these PROACT.

I am not pleased at all with AKEBONO ProACT.

Very satisfied with the brake pads. The pads have given significant improvement over stock brake pads. The rotors are okay. They do rust fairly quickly; faster than stock ones. Also the Brembo replacement rotors I got did not have the correct counter bore for the stock screws used for attachment of the rotor. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase.

The pads had some minimal dust after prolonged use. Response, Stopping Power and Fade were rated 8,8 & 6 respectivly due to the fact these are not race components but performance was much better stock. My driving is done mostly on very hilly twisty road back and forth to work with heavy braking required at times for deer and school busses around blind corners. Overall I am very happy with these components. The best part is the powder coated hat on the Centric brake rotors. This not only looks great, but the rotors don t rust onto the wheels and look unsightly. Very nice feature. Also, I am replacing these brakes not due to performance, but after 50k miles, I think they should be well near the end of life. Performance has not yet been degraded. Note: during heavy wet weather driving the brake performance has been reduced by 25-30% by my estimate.

Centric Premium Rotors are a great value. They were a perfect fit for my OEM rotor; ready to install out of the box. They have a high-quality finish and came with painted centers, which I find keeps rust away from where the rotor meets the wheel. After 11,000 miles there is no warping or shimmy in the wheel, which was typical with the OEM rotor. Highly recommend.

Akebono pads are great too. No squealing and minimal dust. My only complaint is that the replacement caliper clips included with pad set did not fit my OEM rotor. Had to buy separate set from Acura. The instructions that came with the pad emphasized replacing them, so I would have thought they would fit better. Highly recommend the pads though.

I got these brakes to replace my stock pads. While I m happy with them, they don t offer much more than stock pads. The stopping power is good, and response is good, but there isn t much bite to them, probably on par with the oem pads. I would buy these again if I m still satisfied with OEM quality braking, but I might upgrade pads and rotors. I would recommend these to the average user, but if your driving anything more than average, I would probably go with Hawk.

Did the both front and rear pad and rotor replacements using Akebono Pro Ceramic and ATE Slotted rotors. Everthing worked great for the first 5,000 miles, great braking, no to very little dust. Then the brakes started to squeek when car was placed in reverse, first thing in the morning or after the brakes had a chance to cool. Removed the pads and applied anti-squeek compound to rear. Solved problem for only a short time. Soon they started to squeek again in reverse and moving forward. Took the car to dealer and they replaced the whole set-up with stock rotors and pads. Brakes no longer squeek and high level of dust is back. Dust I can live with, but the squeeking is not acceptable. Dealer said the pads were too hard for the rotors. Apparently the Akebono pads and ATE rotors are a BAD combination. I also did the same brake change with my Chrysler T&C Van which is now squeeking all the time.

This is my second set of Akebono ProAct pads that I ve run on my 07 F150. I had great luck with the first set and drove with those for over 95K miles. This new set is extremely noisy, especially with the first few stops in the morning. The groaning is down right annoying. Something they claim their pads don t do. I believe they must have changed the pad formulation or something. I am sure it s the pads and not a light layer or rust on the rotors because I have checked a number of times. Akebono has ignored my emails asking for help. They have lost me as a future customer.

After the LEXUS dealership tried to jerk me on there over priced parts/labor I came here and purchased a little upgrade over stock rotors/pads. I''m familiar with AKEBONO but was a bit skeptical with CENTRIC rotors... Man-o-man! After a couple thousand miles they feel great... Way better over stock!!! Almost like I installed a BIG BRAKE KIT. -AWESOME COMBO!!!!!!!!

Right off the lot our Mazda3 hatch developed brake pulsations. Dealer discovered the rotors were warped and replaced with new; however immediately I could see score lines developing because the pads were not replaced. Have had these pads in place essentially since day one, 23k miles. Great performance and the OEM rotors look good. Dust level is 1/10 of OEM pads but still slightly present.

Initial bite is good. Seems to have about equal or very slightly less overall stopping power than stock. Pedal feel is very smooth, no judder at all... Stepping harder gives it a very progressive braking action. Right away, these things feel smoother than any other pads I''ve tried. As replacements to stock pads for street use, I think these are excellent. I have not driven on these for very long, but at this point, I suspect these are not suitable for track/auto-x, but they may give a more satisfying bite after bedding completely. My stock rotors didn''t require any cutting, so the pads went right on, no fussing or extra adjustments needed.

Ok here it is, first of all I must say selecting quality product is the first thing. When changing your Rotors you must change your brakes this Rotor and brakes package was the best purchase Iíve made. To date I have driven 1113 miles very little to no dust on the rims, As for sound nothing, stopping distance and holding is superior to OEM its definitely a 10. As for installation I did it all myself on Christmas eve a total of 1hour and dirty hands it was by far the best end of year investment.

I will write another review once am at 5000 miles

Thank you TireRack

Rotors: Brembo Replacement Rotor

January 02, 2010

I purchased the Brembo Blank replacment rotors based on the product name and good reviews. The combination of the Brembo rotor and the Akebono Proact pads are good when it comes to stopping power and noise. Some details that should be noted are: 1)-The original shims that came off the old pads could not be swapped over. (the new pads did not come with shims) 2)-The Brembo rotors rappidly create rust around the rotor hat area which looks very poor when looking at the wheels. My wheels are 5 spokes aluminum and you can see the calipers and the rust. I should have listened to the other reviews and either painted them before installation or applied a corrosion inhibiting coating just to that area. 3)-I DO like that the rotor comes with a ware indicator dimple on the rotor surface to indicate when to replace it. 4-)Pads come with a small tube of high temp lube 5)-VERY easy installation 6)Virtualy NO dust as compared to my stock pads 7)Pads are quite.

Althought I did not swap over the original shims, I have not heard any noise from the brakes. I would purchase the pads again but would probably use a different rotor that has better corrosion inhibiting properties already applied. I use my vehicle as a daily commuter with an average 82 mile commute.

I was VERY disappointed with the quality of the BREMBO rotors. My mechanic (whom I trust very much after years of service) said that when he took the rotors out of the box they had score marks and hashing beyond what he had ever seen on "new" rotors. In order to ensure proper break-in of rotors and pads he had to run all 4 rotors on the lathe and machine off the top layers, until they were uniform. I would expect that BREMBO rotors wouldn t have this problem given their reputation. After installation I have been VERY pleased with their performance.

These are my second set of pads and I won''t try anything else. I drive spirited for the most part plus I do trac days, mountain runs and drap race my car. Yes, it''s a Lexus that''s modified though. I chose these pads because I wanted something better than stock, with little fade, and less brake dust that would not eat up my rotors. These fit the bill. I''ve taken the same pads through two track days, and a mountain run and experienced little to no fade and very little dust. Also I experienced NO noise at anytime. Stopping power was good not a huge difference over stock but you definately can tell. I would put these pads on all of my cars. I wish they made them for motorcycles.

Take it easy at first. After about 2500 miles they were awesome! stopping power was insane. I didn''t notice much break dust either but it''s and old car and I am not that sensitve to it at this point. However, I was complety metal on metal on the pads after 17K. I have never gone through pads that quickly in my entire driving life. I had to run to the honda dealer to get some stock pads in an attempt to save my Brembos! I don''t know if it was the pads or the rotors that caused this. As a test I will stick with the stock pads for now just to see how long they last. I will assume for now that it was the pads and say that I wouldn''t buy them again. The rotors appear to be a fine choice. I will write again if I change my oppinion on any of this.

Panic stops works very effective, as we all know the characteristics of AWD''s vehicles which tend to drag the brakes. That''s ceramic compound for you...does not need a lot of brake pedal pressure to stop- easy to modulate also. Rainy season? probably be as effective due to the compound.

It has only been 2K miles, but I am pleased to this point with the rotor/pad combo.

No pulsing, smooth stops. Good brake pedal feel when stopping. The stock rotors were pulsing at 18K and I drove them another 7K, until I couldn''t stand it anymore. I think it is ridiculous that factory rotors have become quick disposables. Charge me another 50 bucks for the car when building it, and put some decent hardware on them.

I''ve put 41,000 mikes on this setup with the basic Brembo blanks replacement rotors in front and Akebono ProACT Ceramic pads front and back. The pads have about 20% life left so for me they re about a 50,000 mile pad. I drive about 40,000 miles a year and spend a lot of time in the car, so good performance, safety and comfort (quiet) are all really important to me. I wouldn''t tolerate brake squeal for very long before going crazy. This set up is hand''s down better then stock and much cheaper. I installed them myself and fit and quality are great. The Brembo rotors are smooth and without issue, other than some rust on the hat as others mention, but that''s what happens to steel exposed to water and salt in the winter.I was so happy with the Akebonos that I don''t want to mess too much with a good thing. I read they make OEM pads for Honda so it seems a natural selection. Staying with Akebono and ceramic, I just ordered some Akebono Street Performance pads for a mild upgrade from the ProActs and new Brembo rotors for the rear. I can''t wait to see how they perform.

With the OEM pads and rotors I needed to have the front rotors resurfaced at 25K miles and again at 50K miles. Rather than resurfacing again at 50K, I replaced the rotors with Brembo and switched to ProACT Pads. After 50K miles in service there is no sign of rotor warpage and it looks like the pads will go another 20K miles. These pads make a bit more dust than the stock ones but I am very happy to trade a little dust for much better durability

At 99,000 miles I replaced my original rotors on my Dodge Grand Caravan with Brembo replacement rotors thinking I was getting a better quality rotor. I couldn''t have been more wrong. After 8,000 mile of driving the Brembo rotors are warped to a far greater extent than my OEM rotors ever warped. I''m very disappointed with Brembo''s quality. I''m now faced with having them resurfaced or replaced.

On the plus side, when I installed the Brembo rotors, I also installed Akebono ceramic pads. They are almost dust-free and keep the front wheels a lot cleaner than the rears which still have non-ceramic pads. The Akebono pads along with the Brembo rotors definitely improved overall brake feel....at least until the rotors warped.

I used the pads on the front of my daily driver civic. They were very smooth and extremely quiet even while creeping along in stop-n-go traffic. They made almost no noticeable brake dust. Their downfall came when I turbo charged the car. I quickly discovered the brake fade issues with a grocery getter brake pad so I had to upgrade to metallic pads. When I pulled them off nearly 40k miles later they still had most of their life left!! I recommend them for any grocery getter, but definitely not for spirited driving or track days.

No issues to this point except, they do rust excessively almost immediately.

would consider the cryo-stop rotors or some other brand that have some type of factory applied paint/treatment. The only concern with the rusting is how it may affect the wheel speed sensors that are located on the rear of the rotors.

I almost ordered these brakes two years ago when my brakes needed replacement badly. Since the Brembo rotors were out of stock (the Tire Rack). I just went ahead and purchased brakes and pads locally. The brakes I purchased were the "Wagner Thermo Quiet". The brakes never did stop squeaking when I stopped from backing up. Stopping the car from forward movement was no problem, but stopping from Reverse made my car sound like a junker! In the morning, when braking in my street after backing out of my garage, I would wake up the entire neighborhood. Same thing at work when backing out of my parking space. This happened EVERY DAY! I finally returned them to the local parts store and was given a 100% refund (as the brakes crried a lifetiime warrenty. At the parts store the guy behind the counter said he had the same problem with "Thermo Quiets" and had to put CRC anti-squeal on the backof the pads to stop the noise (even though the installation directions say NOT to do that). Since installing the ProACT Ceramic Pads, my noise is gone. I should have used the ProACT''s from the beginning and saved myself a lot of hassle because I had to resurface the rotors (due to the # of miles on the Wagner pads). Tire Rack came through again with great products. Thanks guys!

Worked exactly as advertised! A significant improvement over the OE pads. Eliminated the warped rotor sensation previously present without any replacement or turning of the original rotors. Exceptionally smooth response. Not an aggressive enough pad for the performance cars in our household, but a perfect choice for our minivan.

Probably the highest quality brake pad I have ever put on a car, better than ATE, Hawk, Bendix, Mintex, MetalMaster, and almost all the factory pads (MB, BMW, GM, Nissan, Honda-yes I have replaced pads on all of these)! They are an exact fit with chamfered edges, shims, and lubricant included. Very high quality and fit perfectly with no need to force fit the pads!!! After installation, no difference could be noticed in brake performance, quieter than the factory Lexus pads. For anyone with a Land Cruiser or LX, don''t bother with the others and save yourself time and hassle and use these as replacement. The LX 470 brake calipers and rotors are a very well engineered system and given how well these pads fit, I had to let others know! You will be impressed if you do your own work.

I first purchased Wagner "Thermo-Quiet" brake pads from a local O Riley automotive store in an effort to save time when it came time to replace my OEM brakes. I had no problem with regular braking (forward stops), but when backing out of my driveway in the early morning I would wake up my entire neighborhood, and at work I often felt like I was driving a junker when I backed out of my parking spot! The Akebono Ceramic Pads have a built in "anti squeak" pad that actually works! Unlike the built in shim on the ThermoQuiet pads. Even though the directions on the Wagner ThermoQuiet pads say to NOT put any type of "stop squeak" on the back of the pads, it is still advisable. Don''t waste your time on ThermoQuiet pads! Buy Akebono pads from the get go, and save yourself a hassle later.

The original Honda pads had a problem with transferring material from the pad to the rotor, causing vibration when the brakes were applied. Honda would have replaced the pads/rotor, but instead of taking the car into the dealer, I just replaced the pads and rotors with what I thought would be a small upgrade: Brembo rotors and ProAct pads. I''ve been happy with the pads performance, but with about 30K miles, they''re worn out. I use the brakes pretty vigorously around suburbia, but this is a light car and they shouldn''t be ready for replacement yet. The original pads were far from worn out when I replaced them. I''m probably going to try a different brand for the replacement.

The function of the equipment is very good. The stainless lines are ok but don''t even notice a different feel in the pedal. Service good as always, however the looks of these rotors are terrible, within a week the edges and the hubs were covered in ugly rust. This really detracts from the looks of the vehicle. January 18, 2009

I''ve tried all kinds of brake pads and rotors on my car. I''ve finally got it down. The front factory rotors and pads sucked, because they would always go out. Not because I drive like a maniac, but because I would put four or five passengers in the car in San Francisco, and the hills would kill them. I''d resurface the rotors, but they would just go bad again. I started trying aftermarket performance parts, and WOW! They are cheaper than Honda OEM, provide superior stopping power, and last longer. After using EBC rotors + pads, Hawk pads, Power Slot Cryo-Treated rotors, and now these pads... I''ve decided that these pads work the best for me. I also think that the Power Slot Cryo-Treated rotors are the best. These pads are quieter, last longer, and produce less dust than any others I''ve tried. I switched back to OEM pads with these rotors only to re-discover that Honda messed up on the design of the front brakes on my car. The pads did not last, and then I went to these. These last way longer. I''ll admit that the Hawk pads provided better stopping power, but they only lasted about as long as the OEM pads, which are worse than any other car I''ve owned (including other Honda s). Now, I will only buy these as replacements.

I had Hawk HPS pads on before, and those pads were horrid when cold. I would accidently blow the stop sign by my house cause the initial bite was terrible. However, when I installed the ProACT, that completely went away.

These pads put out waaay less dust than the Hawk HPS, while having orders of magnitude better initial bite. While the Hawks felt like they had better bite once they warmed up, it only seemed marginally better. I ll take the better initial bite anyday, as sometimes the Hawks would scare me, especially if you are cruising on the freeway (especially in the rain), and you go to hit the brakes after about 20 minutes of non-use. Almost felt like the brakes didn t work on initial application.

The ProACT does NOT suffer that problem. Fantastic pads in my opinion. I now have them on almost all my cars now.

These pads met my expectations for very good aftermarket replacement pads for stock applications. I wanted good stopping power with low dust and quiet operation. These pads performed very well with stock rotors and a few miles of bedding. While probably not for the younger crowd looking for max brake performance at any cost. These are excellent upgrades for stock setups. I just wish the Street performance grade was available for rear brake applications.

You''ll notice the bite when you make those abrupt stops. I got these Akebono ceramic pads with new shims and used brake quiet (blue stuff). They still had a "clack" noise every time I applied the brakes. After a few hundred miles, the noise was less annoying. These pads have less dust like Hawk street pads, but have a better bite under emergency situations. Hawk street pads would almost let me slip past a yellow light. With the Akebono''s, once they are broken-in, the harder you brake, the harder it will stop. Make sure to properly break them in, and not to "ride the brakes" (which is a bad habit when breaking-in new brakes). When compared to OE pads, the performance of the Akebono Ceramic pads is a bit more controlled and you don''t get the sticky black dust on your nice wheels.

Ever since buying this vehicle in 1999 (new), I''ve had problems with the front brake rotors warping and thus vibrating when ever I applied the brakes. This occurred conistently after every 10,000 - 15,000 miles (despite having over 60% wear left on the pads. I would put up with it until I could no longer stand it (i.e. about another 10,000 miles), and then have the pads replaced and resurface or replace the rotors(even though I still had 30+% wear left on the pads) .... - aside- just hate it when a manufacturer under engineers a brake set-up.

Then I tried the Power Slot Cryo Treated Rotors with the Akebono ProACT Ceramic Pads, and have not had a problem for 28,000 miles. I broke them in exactly the way the manufacturer recommends per the write up they send with the pads - only takes about 5 minutes on a road where traffic is very light. The pads are now worn to about 50% wear left, which is also substantially better than anything I experienced previously. This set up was well worth the extra money I paid, and I will definitely do it again when the time comes.

I don''t know whether the pads or the rotors separately would have solved my rotor warping problem, but together they''re definitely the right combination.

I paired these pads up with Pro Stop Slotted and Drilled rotors. Very responsive with no fade and especially warping like the cheap rotors I usually bought. The only caution is a low rotational "ticking" noise with the rotors, which is to be expected, and is documented with the installation instructions. If you are new to upgrading to this type of setup, you should be aware of this up front. Would definitely buy again.

I have been extremely pleased with this product. I drive a Buick Park Avenue. While that would normally discount what the reviewer has to say about the limits of brake/anything performance, in my case it adds a lot of weight, literally. Due to my somewhat aggressive driving style and the lack of limits placed on me by the German Autobahn, i quickly warped my existing set of rotors. I was left with serious safety concerns about what type of rotors and pads I should purchase. I settled on Akebono ProACT Ceramic Pads with Brembo Replacement Rotors and the results have not disappointed. My stopping distance has been reduced, fade been all but eliminated and I feel safe to continue to operating my chariot at the edge of its speed potential. If any of you are considering bringing a Park Ave to Europe, I beg you reconsider your choice and pick something that only needs one parking space.

Only problem I had was that the rear pads wouldn t quite fit. I could only use half of them. Not a huge deal, since the fronts do most of the braking.

Very quiet! I upgraded from the cheapest pads available from the parts store. As far as noise , it s like a new car.

I changed from a stock pad to these hoping for more stopping power and less dust.

What I got was a-lot less stopping power and a little bit less dust.

When I first opened up the package what I noticed was the pads had a large amount

of chamfered (tapered) material taken off each end of the pad----a-lot more than

I have seen on other pads. With so much material gone it effectively reduces the

percentage of pad surface area by at least a third.

These pads are not good stoppers to the point of feeling unsafe even at moderate

speed. The dust level is only a little better than stock. I have used Raybestos

Quiet Stop ceramic pads on other cars with good success but they were not available

for the front of my BMW.

I do not reccoment these pads.

Iím very happy with the feel and performance of the brakes. Theyíre as smooth as clean socks on a nice wood floor, and as firm as granite. No noise, no pulls, no shakes, and no give of any kind. I had no idea that the best part would be the way the brakes just feel. Itís the most improved thing about the whole system, less pedal pressure gives a faster smoother stop; itís like butter. And you can judge the pedal so much better. Not spongy at all, the pedal is like a rock. The stainless steel brakes lines are the bomb. Iím afraid I can push so hard now that I can damage the master cylinder? I just donít have to push as hard. The original brakes and theses are as different as non-power brakes and power brakes. No more double pump, or slow sink down to the floor at a long light. Just gentle gradual pressure and the pedal feedback is remarkable, I feel like a race car driver. The ABS technology and the new brakes are tight and work beautifully together.

When I cleaned the car at the car wash this morning (coin operated pressure wash) I scrubbed the wheels with the foam brush for most of it (over 6 minutes) then took it right out and ran it and braked very hard. I found no fade at all from the water, none. And, no pulling to one side either, the water seemed to have no effect on the brakes. And the first stop this morning, fine. Ceramic brakes are supposed to heat up slowly. The first stops are supposed to be poor. Iím hoping/guessing the slots and holes in the disks help with the pad bite when the brakes are cold in the morning? But it could lead to more dust also, Iíll have to wait and see.

As someone said earlier, the Ford Escape has very nice brakes by design (Just see the Car and Driver video about the 2001 Escape release tests), but these modifications have made good brakes into magnificent brakes. With new tires the braking could be powerful enough to set off the airbags (joking).

I m happy as a clam.

I replaced the front pads and rotors after suffer warped rotors at 30K and 60K miles. The new rotors and pads have heldup well thru 20K miles with no noise or signs of rotor warping. They pads do however create significantly more dust on the wheels than the OEM pads. The installation was easy and as another reviewer noted, an impact driver makes the job of removing the rotor retaining screws a snap. (You can purchase an impact driver for ~ $20 at places like lowes or homedepot.)

This combination works very well with this vehicle, which does not have ABS. The stopping power is better than OE with only slightly more dust that is easy to clean off. The braking is quiet and smooth with no lockup at full power stop. Definitely makes this vehicle safer to drive at speed. I am now more relaxed about letting my teenage daughter drive this car since the brake upgrade.

I purchased the Akebono Ceramic Pads, ATE Slotted Rotors, and Goodridge G-Stop Brakelines as a package to improve my stopping power. Originally I was looking at upgrading to a big brake kit but the cost was a turnoff so I tried these products as an alternative. The results fell short of my expectations. The brakelines look and fit great but the improvement in pedal feel is almost unnoticeable unless you are really in tune with your vehicle. The ceramic pads have equal stopping power and are just as quiet as the stock AC Delco pads in my opinion however the dusting on the ceramics is a huge improvement which you will appreciate unless you like cleaning wheels. The shining star of this pkg. is definitely the ATE Slotted Rotors. The fit and finish is fantastic and brake fade has been reduced big time. Overall these parts complement each other very well and do offer a slight improvement to satisfy the average driver but for those looking for a serious upgrade to your stopping performance my suggestion is to save your money and get a Big Brake Kit.

I didnt rate the perormance of the pads, because honestly, im not a brake guy. I just dont know. HOWEVER, I do know that when I bought the car new, at approx 25000 miles, I had to replace the front pads and rotors. I replaced them with the Akebono ProAct Ceramic pads and the Frozen Rotors. I did not replace the back sets at the time. I am happy to report now at 37000 miles, I had the back pads and rotors replaced, and I had the guy check my front brakes. According to him, the front Akebono ProAct Ceramic pads (fronzen rotors) are still "like new". The wear wasnt readily noticible and its been 12000 miles!!! Judging by the quick wear of the OEM pads that I originally had to replace, I would have figured the front pads to have worn 40-50% by now.

If you are like me, and are worried less about performance and more about how long the pads actually last, this is the pad for you. Couple the pads with the frozen rotors and it has been my experience that the brakes will last a lot longer. Thanks Akebono. As for the G35 front tire noise...I dont think even God can do anything about that.

Conclusion: These pads may end up lasting twice as long as the OEM pads I replaced.

Good brakes for everyday driving. Low noise, low dust. Doesn t give you as secure a feel as the semi-metallics do, when you know you are going to stop in time no matter what. Also not crazy about the softer pedal feel with the ceramics. Big difference for me is the noise, night and day from the semi-metallics which would grind at low speeds. Overall fairly satisfied, though I have only had them on the car for couple of months and can t comment on wear yet. Set up with Brembo rotors in front and Centric rotors in back. Brembos already showing some rust.

I did lots of research about the combination of Akebono pads/Brembo rotos and this seemed the best fit for my car. It worked very well throughout it s life until the rotors warped. This is the 4th set of rotors on this car (first 2 were original Ford). The problem is not the rotors themselves but the fact that they are a bit too small for this car and combined with rear drums this setup puts just too much stress on the front brakes. The base car had 14" wheels so the diameter of the rotor had to fit over that wheel too. The Brembos actually lasted almost twice as long as the original Ford parts. The Akebono pads are absolutely fantastic. After 18000 miles there s still 2/3 life left in them. I won t get the Brembo s simply because of price. I won t even consider cross-drilled or slotted rotors because they won t hold up any better; again, the rotors are too small. I ll be putting on less expensive rotors and stick with the Akebono pads.

The Infiniti stock brakes were some of the best I had ever experienced on any car, but they also left the hardest to remove dust that I have ever experienced. I chose ceramic pads expecting less dust and a little less stopping power, and that s exactly what I got with the Akebono ProACT pads; in fact there s almost NO dust. The Frozen rotors (rear) were a disapointment because they rusted after only a month s use. Apparently they re not even zinc coated. My Brembo rotors on the front were almost as bad on the rust, and had some warpage problems after 40K miles. Some advice: if you live in an area that gets frequent rains, make sure you buy rotors that have a zinc coating or come with a black or silver rotor hat.

The brakes have always been more than adequate on the MPV. The MPV dirves well for a mini-van but because of its size and weight and high center of gravity it does not get driven truly "hard." The Akebono pads dust very little and do not squeal.

April 21, 2008

I installed the Brembo replacement rotors and Akebono ProACT ceramic pads on a 2000 Honda Odyssey. This is my 4th front brake pad replacement (previous three replacements were junk from local chains) and the first time I replaced the rotors as well. This pad/rotor combination is 10x better than any of the previous replacements. All of the priors started making noise after about 50 miles of driving. To be fair they were all stopping the original rotors (uncut). Still, the new setup is smooth and silent on stop. Zero vibration, zero pull. Dust was not a huge concern for me, but noise was. I wanted a pad that was quite, but could stop the van. The ceramics have a lower "stopping power rating", so I was a little spooked. I use the van for work, so it moves around fully loaded with tools and supplies (i.e. heavy). Even with all the weight, the van still stops *very* well. I am now purchasing the same combo for my wife s 2004 Odyssey. We have 50K on the original pads, and they are starting to "whine for replacement".

I replaced my worn VW rear rotors with the Brembo OE rotors, and the rust is really a problem. The same Akebono pads on the car s original, resurfaced front rotors are doing great. The rear brakes which were done 6 months and 8,000 miles later, however, are already down to 10% pad life. The rust that comes off those brembos is so profuse that every 2 days the alloys need wiping down. They are corroding away my wheels on the inner surfaces. Brembo is a very good company, but they failed to account for the effect of excessive rust when designing this product. No vibrations, smooth stopping, but I will never buy a non-coated Brembo rotor again. The VW OEM rotors with 84k miles are doing much better with only 1/4 the amount of rust.

The Akebono ProAct pads are a great replacement, but they are a bit expensive. I wanted the Euro formulation, but they didn t come with a brake wear sensor, and my mechanic got confused and said they wouldn t fit my car. Truth be told, those brake wear sensors don t go off until it is way too late to save your rotors. In hind-sight, I should have installed the Akebono Euro pads for a firmer pedal feel and maybe slightly more stopping power. But I like the Akebono ProAct pads. They are very smooth and seem to be holding up well on my front rotors. They have worn much sooner than expected on the rear wheels, and I m sure it is due to all the rust that those Bemembos are continuously shedding.

First set of Akebono ProACT pads are now ready to be replaced, after over 100K of some hard highway and country road driving (on sport suspension and tires). Gonna order new Brembo rotors, but may not need them as this is the first pad change on them and they ve not shown any signs of needing anything more than to be turned (I just waited too long and may be metal to metal before I get the new pads UPS d to me). Anyway, this Brembo/Akebono set-up has been absolutely fantastic for stopping power, fade, noise, and dust. Given the Gen 4 Camry s are famous for a bad front brake design, this combo is a great fix!

I drive this car like I would a fighter jet, to the tune of 30K miles per year on business. KONI sport inserts, Eibach springs, headers to custom exhaust, lightweight rims, and a lot of I-5 mountain carving when I m not blasting through twisting Canadian highways. Needless to say the brakes have to be up to snuff as well...I picked up the Powerslot rotors and Akebono pads and had a local Sears install them. They put on the rotors but omitted the pads, but this gave me a few miles worth of stops to season the rotors before I caught the mistake. Once the new pads were in and bedded in--following the manufacturer s instructions--stopping power is incredible. Ever since the start, there s been a strong shaking of the steering wheel on initial light application, but as you depress the pedal further the bite is amazingly linear, the shaking stops, and it s entirely possible to pull enough negative Gs to make myself and my passengers nauseous without locking up the tires. It s possible to drop from 100 to 30 in well under two seconds now. Noise, as other people have commented, is a minor issue--there s a sort of growling effect, but it s moderate and not annoying considering the stopping power. All these figures are with a total of approximately 800 pounds of people in the car. It s time to replace the pads now, after about 50,000 miles, as they re down to 1/4th of an inch of surface, and if I weren t trying to salvage the rotors by going with a harsher pad compound to abrade away any potential material deposits, I d absolutely buy the ProACTs again. I ll review the rotors once I get a chance to run a harsher pad. Hope this helps somebody out there!

Stock rotors warped with less than 30k miles on them. I replaced both, rotors and pads, myself for less than $200.00 (including shipping). I now have a car that stops better than stock with very little dusting on the wheels. The steering wheel used to shudder in my hands so bad it was down right nerve racking. Now the Accord stops on a dime without shudder or pull in either direction. I will definently be upgrading to the braided lines up front for even better performance. Tire Rack was very helpful through it all too. By the way, the 2 retaining screws that have to come out in order to remove the rotors, can be removed by simply spraying some Liquid Wrench on them and letting them soak for 15-20 minutes. Hit them a couple of times with a screw driver and hammer and they ll come right off. You ll have to push while you unscrew but it can be done. When they do come loose, it s with a "pop" when they do. My new rotors had the new screws with them.

These pads have exceeded my expectations for my SUV. Not only do these pads brake very well, they leave no dust, no chatter, no squeal, and brake smoothly. As far as fade, they hold up well in the stop and go when called upon. For the money, these brake pads are a high quality replacement and I would recommend them to anyone. I currently use Hawk HPS pads on my SVT Lightning and these will be my next replacement.

Great pads and rotors for the money. I had tons of problems with the stock Ford Rotors. They did not last. I finally, bought the Brembo Rotors with the Akebono pads. What a difference and no problems after 20,000 miles. The Brembo Rotors are cheaper than the OEM Ford Rotors, but they last and perform much better. I would highly recommend the Akebono pads as well. I ve used a variety of brands of ceramic pads and these have been the best.

I loved these pads on my Mitsubishi so much that I installed them on three of my friends cars. The Toyota Matrix had the most improvement of all. Modulation and pedal firmness were stellar. I didn t drive it much before handing over the keys, but during the bed-in I was impressed enough to consider getting another set and a Matrix to match. On my Mitsu, they far outshined the Satisfied ceramics, and were similar to Axxis Ultimates which I also loved. I never had fade in my car, the initial bite was impressive, and modulation was fantastic. Dusting was better than the Ultimates and probably halfway between your average OE organic (no dust) and average semi-metallic (medium dust). Never had any squeal using Brake Quiet on the pad backs either. Definitely going back for more.

Put the Akebono Pro Act ceramics on my 03 Mazda 6s 3.0L and had to pull them off after 2000 miles. The brake moan they created was so loud it made my teeth chatter. Put on new rotors, but to no avail. Eventually took off the Akebonos and replaced with Raybestos ceramics in the front and Satisfied Ceramics in the back. Stopping power and responsiveness just as good, a bit dustier, but at least they don t MOAN.

Brembo rotors seem to be holding up fine. They are rusty now, although it took a month to get that way. Stops are true and solid. Akebono pads are also perfect, if you like brake dust and noise, regardless of speed, pressure applied, temperature or humidity. I have replaced pads and rotors probably twenty times over my driving life on several different vehicles and this is the first time I was genuinely unhappy with the noise level on a set of pads. My car is not brand new, but I take care of it and it still looks nice. However, when I pull up to a stop light, a drive thru, an exit ramp, etc. it sounds like a total hooptie. I will NEVER purchase another Akebono product. EVER.

I have been extremely happy with my Brembo Sport drilled rotors and Akebono ProACT pads set-up. The Silverado SS already came with high performance ceramic pads and Brembo rotors in order to stop all that weight and power. So I was happy to see that I was replacing the stock with equal or better components, but not at the dealer price. The big difference I noticed was with the drilled rotors I had less fade than with the stock rotors. I attribute this to the cross-drilling keeping the brakes cooler. Also, these Brembo drilled rotors have not rusted the way the Brembo replacement rotors have on my rear axle.

The Brembo replacement rotor was the exact rotor that came off my Silverado SS, so I was happy to see that Chevy was using a performance rotor to stop all that power. I have been very happy with the feel and stopping power of this rotor, but I have to give low marks for appearance. Immediately after installing the Brembo replacement rotors and driving in the first rain the rotor housings rusted. The area of the rotor that meets the pad stays clean from the pad friction, but the rotor housing has an ugly coat of rust on it, that quite frankly looks like s**t. It s like they weren t treated with any kind of anti-corrision solution. The Akebono ProACT pads are very impressive, and I have had no noise or dust problems with them.

October 07, 2007

I installed the Brembo replacement rotors and Akebono ProACT ceramic pads on a 2000 Honda Accord EX sedan (4 cyl, manual) at 81K miles. This is primarily my wife s daily driver that we bought used at 42K miles. The original pads and rotors were just down to the wear pads on all 4 corners, to give an idea of how easy she is on brakes. The replacement parts pop right on. Results - the new pads are completely quiet, stop a bit better than the stock units, and seem to dust a little bit more on the wheels. I ll see how the dusting goes as the pads get completely bedded in. The Brembo rotors rust quickly and aren t the greatest looking units after a while. They work fine, but they get a good coat of surface rust. Installation notes - I found that to get the factory rotor retaining screws (2 per rotor installed at the factory to keep the rotors in place on the assembly line), it was best to drill through them with a bit the size of the middle of the Phillips head, then drill off the head with a bit a little larger than the thread size but smaller than the head size. After the head of the screw is gone, the rotors come right off and you can turn out the remaining threads with pliers. Of note, the front Brembo rotors don t come with retaining screws but the rears do.

This combination worked really well. The pads were a great upgrade and left very light dust on my wheels. I have since sold the vehicle, but I was really happy with this brake setup. I have done some research and found that vented rotors generally work better than drilled or slotted rotors. Drilled rotors are prone to cracking. Slotted are better than drilled, but the slots remove some of the braking surface. solid or vented rotors are the way to go. This was a street only vehicle so the stopping power was more than adequate, but if I were to replace the rotors again I would go with either solid or vented rotors. and by the way I drive fast and go through brakes and tires quickly. Cheers!

I have aftermarket 17"s with a painted finish and it looks ugly when the wheels are covered in brake dust. I didn t have that issue with the Akebono s, a little but pricier than other brands but definetly worth the money. I would definetly buy this brand again in a heartbeat.

What a great product at a great price! Replaced all the way around on my Acura

using Raybestos solid rotors in the rear. Feels like new again with -0- noise.

OE parts for this car, just are not worth it and the Akebono pads are much, much better

quality. I was a little nervous since the car is still under warranty and was

upset that the pedal went to the floor with 1/2 the brake pad left - this

just shouldn t be! It was quality of materials the mechanic and I agreed.

I don t know how TireRack makes any money since these quality products (rotors and pads)

were much cheaper than anything I could get locally or the OE or anything install

shop could get me (major markup for them!). But they gleefully installed them and

did a great job. Very satisfied.

Awesome brake pads! You can feel the pedal difference after you install these new pads. I expected it to be not dusty at all but I guess I was wrong. It does leave brake dust behind. Everything else is fantastic. I love these pads, expcept the brake dust.

Replaced pads and rotor; combined with Brembo Replacement rotor. Performance much better than last non-name pad replacements I used before. No complaints.

Best Brake pads I ve tried! (and I ve tried just about every brand) I had never heard of Akebono, but while getting my wheels aligned, I noticed the front pads were getting a bit thin. The guy doing the alignment was a "motor-head" himself - and recommended them - that s what he used (even though they didn t sell them where he worked).

Glad I tried them - Braking performance is on a different level: stops fast, quiet, no chatter or fade, wet or dry...and this is on a 4500 lb truck. So far, they seem very easy on the rotors also...and ZERO BRAKE DUST to boot!! I had a heck of a time keeping my 20 inch Chrome wheels clean with my previous pads (it s a Harley Davidson Edition). Now only my rear wheels get dirty, the fronts (with the new pads) stay perfectly clean. I don t know how they did it, there s usually some trade-off between performance, noise, longevity, or brake dust, but Akebono seems to have covered all bases.

Outstanding pads... I plan on replacing the rears with the same pads soon. Don t hesitate...get them. You won t regret it.

Had a few initial concerns with: cold weather performance, dust reduction, noise.

no negative change in season performance, NO noise, and after the 1st 300mi, there is hardly ANY dust at all! for the 1st 300 the dust is still noticeable (I got the new brembos as well), but now there is virtually unnoticeable. the oem pads dusted terribly and the stock rotors are junk (went thru a set each yr). i m EXTREMELY picky but so pleased with these!
