Good stopping power. Have some noise when releasing the brake pedal, as if the pads are sticking to the rotor. The amount of dust is unacceptably high, because of that would not buy again and do not recommend this product - front rims are covered in a thick layer of black dust within days and I am mostly driving on highway without any aggressive braking.

I have purchased the Brembo replacement rotors hoping they would be as good or better than the OEM rotors. However only a few weeks after installation the rotors started to rust. I suspect the metal alloy is cheaper for the Brembo than the OEM rotors. I regret buying these rotors, they just look bad on my Z4.

I own a well taken care of 2002 Honda CR-V that will soon be a safe chamber of transport for my future son. I daily drive an 07 TL Type-s which itself has killer brakes in factory form (Brembos). So, based on that. I ordered the Brembo O.E. style replacement rotors plus Hawk HPS street pads all the way around for the CRV and am blown away by the creaminess of this combo every time I drive it, like the other reviewer said about that clamping sound on rotor. I fully agree. this combo provides a Fat pedal pressure and conveys tons of feel all the way till full BITE. The driving experience I ve experienced in both these products will definitely influence my brake choice on my TL-S when the time comes (I won t be using OEM ACURA). Excellent customer service, fast shipping, and great prices! Thank you TIRERACK.COM!!!!!!!!!

Excellent performing brake pads, but after 7000 miles they start making a high pitch noise at all speeds. I tried to repair with the advice of a tire rack technician with no luck. Had to buy a new set of pads (hawk hps) to stop the noise. I have never seen anything like this. Great pads, but unbearable noise. I had to throw a set of perfectly good pads in the garbage because I was embarrassed to drive my van. Too bad!

Rotors were precision machined, perfectly balanced, with a very high quality appearance and a great surface burnish for break in. Excellent value. Only downside is some surface rust has developed as this is a not a coated rotor but I knew that before buying and I m more concerned with performance and quality. These rotors and new ceramic pads and the brakes are better than new with great feel for control and good cold hard braking performance which is exactly what I was looking for use in high speed interstate highway driving in heavy traffic.

I put on this combination of the Akebono pads and Brembo rotors on the front wheels of my Camry in 2007. They re now ready to come off, at 99,000 miles of use without a problem. The pads still have a fair amount of life, but I ve recently started getting some pedal pulsing during high speed braking. I m assuming the rotors have worn thin enough to have warped a little. I can t say enough good about these pads/rotors -- good pedal feel, no brake noise, almost no brake dust, and good stopping power. Needless to say, I ll stick with this combination in the future.

The Akebono ProACT and Brembos are the best combination of brakes and rotors I have had on my 2001 Acura CL. No shimmy or vibration and smooth dependable braking. I only wish I had painted the center hubs of the Brembos because they have rusted after 5000 miles.

I bought these after heard my brakes wore down to 1mm. as we all know infiniti has problems with brakes so turned to aftermarket. the Holman dealership in cherry hill, nj charged me 1000$ to install their product and and wouldn t install mine. also charged me to flush out brake fluid which they say is causing my calipers to cease. i took the car to my trusted mechanic up in NYC and had brakes installed for 200$ and had calipers cleaned. no they are as good as new and better stopping power than the old set. I wouldn t say this combination gives you the best stoping power ( as i test drove the 2011 G37 and that car had serious stopping power) but it should last a lot longer than the nissan parts. I m happy. I ll post another review if there s any problem with the brakes and let you guys know.

I installed the Brembo replacement rotors on the front end about 70k miles ago and have been very pleased with them. For an economical option, these are the way to go. I ve had no problems with warping, and I push my car pretty hard (having taken several performance driving courses). They re nothing fancy in terms of looks, and are only marginally better than the factory rotors. They show a little rust the morning after a heavy rain, but that gets scored off after one or two stops. Mostly I m just amazed at how long they ve lasted. It s been at least 70k miles on them (possibly even longer).

I bought the rotors and pads way before they needed replacement. Just installed them 2 weeks ago. I have purchased several Brembo rotor replacements over the years and they are always better than the "EL CHEAPO" rotors I used to buy locally. The real test will be when I buy a second set of pads and try to get the rotors resurfaced - will they have sufficient thickness at that time or not ? Another question will be "will the rotors warp before the second set of pads are needed? Only time will tell.

The Akebono pads are always decent performers - because all I want in pads are minimal black dust on alloy wheels and stopping power equal to or better than stock. I don t race on a track so fade resistance - EXCELLENT so far - is just measured in a single panic stop - which happens on occasion on normal roads. For the "old" Mercedes in particular, the front pads, OEM style, allowed me to install the brake wear sensors properly.

For family cars, Brembo rotors and Akebono pads are high-quality equal to or better than OEm replacements, local parts stores don t carry them. When I say "family car" that means a vehicle crammed with 5 - 7 people (1000 - 1500 lbs) plus luggage capable of a good panic stop.

Very satisfied with the brake pads. The pads have given significant improvement over stock brake pads. The rotors are okay. They do rust fairly quickly; faster than stock ones. Also the Brembo replacement rotors I got did not have the correct counter bore for the stock screws used for attachment of the rotor. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase.

Finally had to replace 2 rear rotors after 230k miles. I used the factory pads and used Brembo replacement rotors. It does not bite as good as the factory and will probably not use these rotors again. After just a few weeks I can see that the Brembos are rusting pretty bad. I shouldn''t have to paint new rotors. Brake dust is negligible.

I bought these because the ratings showed them equivalent to the Akebono pads at a cheaper price. I have to disagree with the ratings. I''ve had the Akebono pads and although they are the same in the stopping power and noise, they are not the same in the dust category. They make significantly more dust. I should have paid the extra $20 for the Akebono pads.

I purchased the Brembo Blank replacment rotors based on the product name and good reviews. The combination of the Brembo rotor and the Akebono Proact pads are good when it comes to stopping power and noise. Some details that should be noted are: 1)-The original shims that came off the old pads could not be swapped over. (the new pads did not come with shims) 2)-The Brembo rotors rappidly create rust around the rotor hat area which looks very poor when looking at the wheels. My wheels are 5 spokes aluminum and you can see the calipers and the rust. I should have listened to the other reviews and either painted them before installation or applied a corrosion inhibiting coating just to that area. 3)-I DO like that the rotor comes with a ware indicator dimple on the rotor surface to indicate when to replace it. 4-)Pads come with a small tube of high temp lube 5)-VERY easy installation 6)Virtualy NO dust as compared to my stock pads 7)Pads are quite.

Althought I did not swap over the original shims, I have not heard any noise from the brakes. I would purchase the pads again but would probably use a different rotor that has better corrosion inhibiting properties already applied. I use my vehicle as a daily commuter with an average 82 mile commute.

I was VERY disappointed with the quality of the BREMBO rotors. My mechanic (whom I trust very much after years of service) said that when he took the rotors out of the box they had score marks and hashing beyond what he had ever seen on "new" rotors. In order to ensure proper break-in of rotors and pads he had to run all 4 rotors on the lathe and machine off the top layers, until they were uniform. I would expect that BREMBO rotors wouldn t have this problem given their reputation. After installation I have been VERY pleased with their performance.

Stock Honda Pilot brake pads are insufficient for a heavy SUV this size. I swapped out the OEM Honda pads for EBC Greenstuff and felt an immediate improvement in brake response, but the most amazing was the reduction in braking distance compared to stock.

There are many reports of people who had bad experience with aftermarket pads but my experience has been positive. No brake squeels, make sure you apply red-silicon specifically made to reduce squeeks on the back of the pads before you install. And more importantly, break-in the pads appropriately and then they will function perfectly. The EBC Green pads only lasted 30,000 some miles but it was well worth it. I just bought HAWK Ceramics to replace the EBC-Greens.

These are not an all-out track pad. They are still another pad that tries to do both - street and track days. If your car is light, say under 3000lbs, these pads will probably do you well. A strange experience I have had: the first day I put these pads on, they were FANTASTIC. High, firm pedal, and retina-detaching stopping power. The next track day, everything on the car was the same, but I had a VERY low, soft pedal. So low it takes at least 2-3 full inches of pedal travel to finally get any brake action. This has happened every time I put my track rotors and these pads on. Yet my street rotors and pads give a high, firm pedal. My lines and fluid is all fine. The only variables are the pads. While the sheer braking power is still roughly the same as day one, the pedal travel and feel has greatly degraded. There is a total of about 7 track days on these pads. The track in question is a fairly tight, slow one.

My next track pad will either be one of the hawk colored series, or another brand altogether.

I purchased these brake pads in hopes of improving the performance of my brakes without a full brake kit. These pads stop very well and I was very impressed. I had read other reviews and few persons had mentioned heavy dusting and brake squeek. I figured since many had good results they must have been odd situations. I can tell you 3 things, these pads stop amazingly well. They Dust a LOT more than indicated by ratings and they are noisy. The other reviews indicate not everyone has had noise problems. I can tell you as a GM master tech they have been installed correctly on my car using brake quiet as an addition to help reduce noise. The shims on the backside seemed a bit thin to me compared to OE pads which could contribute to the noise. As long as you can live with some dust and noise, these pads are great.

November 20, 2009

For years I wanted The Hawks HPS Street as my "next" replacement pads but due to contemplating on getting rid of this car or not, I have finally decided to keep this vehicle due the mileage I have accumulated. As a car enthusiast and a MB Tech, I have more then a fair amount of knowledge on brakes. When my stock pads needed replacement, I bought F+R Rotora rotors and EBC Green pads. Performed the recommended bedding in procedure, the EBC proved to be a set of worthless pads, Brake fade after two 70 mph stops! As I understand they don t start working after the pads have been slightly warmed up, but the DON T work after they have warmed up. I had to get rid of them after 10k because I had total brake lost, Twice!!! SO, I was not going to spend $150 on brake pads again, I bought F+R pads from advance auto (WearEver Silvers) These were honestly the best pads you can buy, NO BUll! Great initial bite, Cold or Warm. NO BRAKE Fade after 3+ high speed stops. And they lasted ~70K. Impressive for $60 pads. Now my car has 120K and i know I will be running this car to the ground. After reading all the reviews from Tire Rack. I went ahead and place them thru Tire Rack, Great Service and Fast shipping!!! I put on new brembo rotors and these AWESOME HAWKS HPS Street pads. Following the bedding in procedure, and off I go. Took it gently for 2 weeks and I was anxious to test the pads out. What do you know, BRAKE FADE after ONE high speed stop, almost rear ended the car in front of me b/c I had no brakes. Since these are "High" performance Street pads, Its understanding that the braking power won t be there until they are slightly warm, but its not there in any temperature ie cold, warm, hot, etc. Its like the EBC Greens BUT Worst, In every case!!! Thought it was my rotors so luckily I kept the Wear Ever pads, and swap them out for test purpose. I Could not believe how good the Wear Ever pads were with the brembo rotors. I spent $171 for the hawk pads to find out they were junk.

They appear to be a nice rotor with a two wear dimple indicators. That''s a nice little feature to have, but after about 500 miles or so these rotor leaves a severe rust on the hub. I will most likely not buy another brembo stock replacement rotor because of that, but price is great.

Take it easy at first. After about 2500 miles they were awesome! stopping power was insane. I didn''t notice much break dust either but it''s and old car and I am not that sensitve to it at this point. However, I was complety metal on metal on the pads after 17K. I have never gone through pads that quickly in my entire driving life. I had to run to the honda dealer to get some stock pads in an attempt to save my Brembos! I don''t know if it was the pads or the rotors that caused this. As a test I will stick with the stock pads for now just to see how long they last. I will assume for now that it was the pads and say that I wouldn''t buy them again. The rotors appear to be a fine choice. I will write again if I change my oppinion on any of this.

Excellent replacement rotors at an excellent price. No problems after 10,000 miles they have not warped or severely rusted. I used OEM pads from Saturn and have found this to be a good combination after trying multiple pad types on this vehicle.

My RX-7 has four-piston brakes up front, so it already has strong brakes, but the Hawk HPS/Brembo plain rotor combo makes it a stopping fiend. On the autocross course, I can brake very late into turns and experience little fade. I don''t notice much dust, but then again my wheels are very open! The pads are pretty civil for daily-driving and I can haul the car down very quickly from high speeds when panic-stopping without lockup. My only complaints are that the pads tend to start squealing after a while in heavy traffic and the initial bite could be improved a bit. Otherwise, these are great dual-duty pads.

Replaced factory brake parts w/Brembo replacement rotors and Hawk HPS pads. Initial bite when cold is slightly less than factory, but once warm, stopping power is much improved. Hawk pads seem we''ll made and include all necessary parts. Rotors look fine and matched to the car perfectly, however make sure you paint the hub before installation. After the first rain, the rotors hubs, and inside of my rims were covered in orange oxidation. All in all, good purchase.

I was hesitant to buy these pads because my old Akebono ProAct Ceramics performed so well for me and the Street Performance pads don''t have many reviews yet. I have to agree with the comments of another review. I also just replaced what I thought were the best brake pads I''ve ever had in the Akebono ProAct Ceramics, with the Akebono Street Performance Pads. I''ve had the Street Performance installed for a week and I love them! I have not tried the Hawk ceramics or HPS to compare, but these Street Performance have the most stopping power I''ve ever had while still being completely smooth and silent. I haven''t really owned them long enough to comment on the dusting, but based on my satisfaction with them so far, who cares! For a little over $200 in front and rear pads and new Brembo blank rotors in the rear, My almost eight year old Accord with 229,000 miles stops like my friends new Infinity G (which was my inspiration for the upgrade in the first place).

I''ve put 41,000 mikes on this setup with the basic Brembo blanks replacement rotors in front and Akebono ProACT Ceramic pads front and back. The pads have about 20% life left so for me they re about a 50,000 mile pad. I drive about 40,000 miles a year and spend a lot of time in the car, so good performance, safety and comfort (quiet) are all really important to me. I wouldn''t tolerate brake squeal for very long before going crazy. This set up is hand''s down better then stock and much cheaper. I installed them myself and fit and quality are great. The Brembo rotors are smooth and without issue, other than some rust on the hat as others mention, but that''s what happens to steel exposed to water and salt in the winter.I was so happy with the Akebonos that I don''t want to mess too much with a good thing. I read they make OEM pads for Honda so it seems a natural selection. Staying with Akebono and ceramic, I just ordered some Akebono Street Performance pads for a mild upgrade from the ProActs and new Brembo rotors for the rear. I can''t wait to see how they perform.

Brembo Sport Brake Pads are the best street brake pad I have owned. I have tried Hawk HPS, Mintex Red Box, PBR Ultimate Ceramic, ATE, etc. The Hawk HPS pads performed the best out of the group I tried, but I didn''t like their responsiveness, especially when they were cold. These Brembo Sport Brake pads don''t fade at all. In fact, they perform much better when they heat up. They dust a little too much, but I can live with that since they perform so well. The pads are very responsive (more so than the Hawk HPS pads I tried), they have terrific stopping power (slightly better than the Hawk HPS), and they have better fade resistance than even the ceramic pads I tried. I''m very satisfied with these pads and would definately buy them again.

With the OEM pads and rotors I needed to have the front rotors resurfaced at 25K miles and again at 50K miles. Rather than resurfacing again at 50K, I replaced the rotors with Brembo and switched to ProACT Pads. After 50K miles in service there is no sign of rotor warpage and it looks like the pads will go another 20K miles. These pads make a bit more dust than the stock ones but I am very happy to trade a little dust for much better durability

At 99,000 miles I replaced my original rotors on my Dodge Grand Caravan with Brembo replacement rotors thinking I was getting a better quality rotor. I couldn''t have been more wrong. After 8,000 mile of driving the Brembo rotors are warped to a far greater extent than my OEM rotors ever warped. I''m very disappointed with Brembo''s quality. I''m now faced with having them resurfaced or replaced.

On the plus side, when I installed the Brembo rotors, I also installed Akebono ceramic pads. They are almost dust-free and keep the front wheels a lot cleaner than the rears which still have non-ceramic pads. The Akebono pads along with the Brembo rotors definitely improved overall brake feel....at least until the rotors warped.

Hawk HPS are great pads for any situation. They have wonderful stopping power, very little noise, and the dust is easily cleaned off the wheel. As with any pads, the stopping power is different with the temperature of the pads. So far with 10,000 miles, I am very happy with the HPS pads and the Brembo blanks.

I haven''t had problems other people have reported about noise and heavy brake dust. As for a comparison between stock and Hawk LTS brakes along with the Brembo rotors, I need two side by side test. I wish the brake pedal felt better though, but not sure if replacing the calipers and rubber brake hoses with flex steel lines would help. The only comparison I can give is to the state my old brake pads and rotors were in compared to my new ones and there was definite improvement. How much I do not know, but like I said I need two vehicles side by side with equal part usage to give a true comparison.

Great at first. Nice smooth and solid braking. 2 years and 2 winters with salt on the roads and the rotors are rusting out and splitting at the perimeter edges causing the pulsation like warped rotors. They also rust easily with rain, and if the car sits for a week or so, the brakes freeze to the rotors, and then the rust must also be worn off the rotors.

No issues to this point except, they do rust excessively almost immediately.

would consider the cryo-stop rotors or some other brand that have some type of factory applied paint/treatment. The only concern with the rusting is how it may affect the wheel speed sensors that are located on the rear of the rotors.

The very next day I was nearly involved in a chain reaction crash on I-84 on my way to work. The new brakes as well as the Brigestone G009''''s and AGX struts, all from Tire Rack allowed me to come to a safe controlled stop. The guy behind me ended up passing me on the left shoulder. The cars, two up from of me lost control and tagged the guard rail. These pads are AWESOME.

The original Honda pads had a problem with transferring material from the pad to the rotor, causing vibration when the brakes were applied. Honda would have replaced the pads/rotor, but instead of taking the car into the dealer, I just replaced the pads and rotors with what I thought would be a small upgrade: Brembo rotors and ProAct pads. I''ve been happy with the pads performance, but with about 30K miles, they''re worn out. I use the brakes pretty vigorously around suburbia, but this is a light car and they shouldn''t be ready for replacement yet. The original pads were far from worn out when I replaced them. I''m probably going to try a different brand for the replacement.

The Brembo rotors and Hawk HPS pads are a great addition to a car that already stops very well. With the HPS pads, properly bedding them in is crucial! Otherwise, the pads are quite noisy and don''t bite well. After bedding them in, I''ve experienced consistent, predictable braking behavior in highway, city, and autocross driving. There is slightly more brake dust than on the original pads, but they are quiet. I only experienced fade after a long day of autocrossing and even then, it was very little. Initial bite is very good and more than suffices for street driving, though it could be a little better for autocrossing. I have HP+ pads on the way for autocross racing, but these pads are great for street-driven performance cars. As for the rotors, the quality is much nicer than the parts store models that they replaced.

The combination of brembo rotors and Akebono street perf pads makes my car handle the daily drive as well as the occasional autocross with aplomb. The braking power is simply incredible and is always available, with fade never being an issue. The only tiny issue is that dusting is fairly heavy, and the rotor vanes have rusted over as have the hats since they lack black e-coating. However, their performance is just as great as ever and I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

I love the fact that I don''''t need to clean the front wheels as often. That combined with the increase in stopping power made this change a pleasant surprise. I installed a set of rotors and ceramic pads at 80k(from local store). The rotors warped quickly and the pads dirtied the wheels quickly although the stopping power was about equal to these. This was definitly a inferior setup to the Brembo/ATE setup installed now.

I went back to Brembo blanks after having used ATE Premium One''s with the same Hawk HPS pads. There is a world of difference with having slotted rotors instead of blanks. The brakes feel less responsive and just a little weaker in general. These rotors also cause the pads to heat up MUCH quicker, which has caused the rotors to begin to warp. Dust on the wheels is a good bit, but no more than expected. Bottom line, if you re looking at doing a brake job on a Camaro or something similar (GTO, G8, Mustang, Charger, etc.) get some slotted or drilled rotors, it''s worth the money.

The Akebono pads were a very noticeable upgrade from the stock pads. Stopping power went up over stock levels very noticeably after the break-in period. The lack of brake dust was a very welcome surprise as well. The Brembo rotors are no different from stock as far as I can tell except that they were lower in price than the dealership. I will get this setup when it''s time to replace the front brakes again.

I find that the slotted rotors provide better braking on S2000 CR. The reason I wanted to try oem type was slotted rotors cracking. I ran one set of pads for brembo oem rotors and then pulled them from the car and once again installed dba slotted rotors. The customer service provided by Tire Rack was great, delivery great. Now the product was not what I had hoped for. Thanks -roger

I am very satisfied (no pun intended) with the pads. They stop just as good or better than stock and have MUCH less dust. I do not drive aggresively so that was not the reason to buy them, mainly just looking for a quality replacement when my stockers were running low.

The Brembo rotors warped in about 25k miles. I still use them because I am used to it and really do not feel like changing it all out again, or until the pads need replacement. I painted the center of the rotors so they did not show rust - I HIGHLY recommend this also or you will be staring at a lot of rust very soon. Overall they are fine but I do not see them to be any better vs stock, because they warped pretty quickly also. I just think the brake system is under sized for this particular car.

I spent a lot of time reading reviews while trying to find replacement pads for my fairly heavy 5 Series wagon. Many of the street, or performance pads, seemed to be good at some things, and awful at others. The Akebono Euros are just what the Doctor ordered for my car. I have had no noise problems and they have been fabulously free of dust since installed. Admittedly they aren''''t as grabby as others may be in the stopping arena, but I don''''t want or need that in my driving - I''''m not racing to work. They are progressive and smooth in that respect, and in an emergency stop they come through very nicely. I read about a lot of people trying better pads and then warping rotors. The Brembos work beautifully with these pads, no problems - great combo!!!

The stock replacement rotors from Brembo are great. I take my car out to the track once per month, and the I''ve ran two track days with these rotors on HP-plus pads. The brake performance is great and the rotors are holding up well. Value for money, these Brembo rotors are the best. As far as the HP-plus pads go, they are great semi-racing pads. Meaning they are still usable on the streets and provide enough stoping power on the tracks. It was noisy on the streets when I first have them installed. After two track days, they''ve quiet down a lot. I would buy them again.

ATE Super Blue (and the Gold counterpart) is the ONLY choice for regular track-driven cars. I have 6 cars we regularly track drive that are also street cars and I keep gallons of Super Blue on hand. It s high fade resistance and low price make it the ideal choice for both DE-type driving and for the street. I have only experienced fluid boiling once, and it was in Ferrari Testarossa, which is a heat monster, so it to be expected. A bonus is if you alternate with the ATE Gold, it changes color as you bleed to verify a complete flush.

While advertised as track pads, for the Corvette they were no better than stock ceramic. My son and I (both instructors) shared the car for a weekend at CMP, and by the end of the weekend (~10 25-minute sessions) we had experienced fade, lengthening stopping distances and when I removed the pads for inspection they were badly heat-checked. We followed the bedding-in procedure and our driving styles are not typically "hard" on brakes. These pads may be adequate on a lighter car, but are not recommended for larger or faster cars. I later went to Hawk DTC 70 s and it was like night and day - they are vastly superior and hold up well.

Stopping power is great compared to stock. I mostly take my car to the track and some road racing. It''s almost a 700hp car and stopping from 130-140 quick is not a problem with these rotors. The hawk brake pads are also great...The only thing is that they do have a lot of brake dust. I would definitely get these rotors again. I will be purchasing them for my next project.

So why are they discontinuing this pad?? After over 100,000 miles of using carbon-metallic pads I finally found a pad that helps resolve a bit of the sponge-pedal that these trucks are famous for. I tow with this vehicle, and even with meticulous brake care, adjustment and maintenance, I had never been able to have the thing feel safe with OE pads. I replaced the rotors and pads to the Brembo Sports, and it''s like a new vehicle. After about 50 miles of break-in, they really started biting. Sure they squeak at low speed, sure they are dusty, but they stop! I go through pads every 6-8 months on this vehicle, and for the closeout price, I may put a replacement set in my garage.

Rotors: Brembo quality at a cost less than OEM replacement Honda rotors. Zero run out, and a perfect fitment to hub. Not coated, so surface corrosion on rotor hats aleady beginning to appear, but this is cosmetic, and it''''s only a CR-V. Very happy with price/performance ratio.

Brake pads: come out of the ATE box with ALL features included on OEM Honda pads (shims, spring retainer holes, etc) and is a PERFECT fit to the stock Honda caliper. Ceramic pad composition runs clean, has great cold torque (initial brake application), and is easily modulated when hot. Very smooth and progressive braking. Premium indeed, and worth every penny.

I have been extremely pleased with this product. I drive a Buick Park Avenue. While that would normally discount what the reviewer has to say about the limits of brake/anything performance, in my case it adds a lot of weight, literally. Due to my somewhat aggressive driving style and the lack of limits placed on me by the German Autobahn, i quickly warped my existing set of rotors. I was left with serious safety concerns about what type of rotors and pads I should purchase. I settled on Akebono ProACT Ceramic Pads with Brembo Replacement Rotors and the results have not disappointed. My stopping distance has been reduced, fade been all but eliminated and I feel safe to continue to operating my chariot at the edge of its speed potential. If any of you are considering bringing a Park Ave to Europe, I beg you reconsider your choice and pick something that only needs one parking space.

I put Brembo Rotors and Akebono pads on this past summer.

The Brembos have dimples on them to let the DIY mechanic easily observe if the rotors are worn. There are (2) dimples, when one is gone you need to get thinking about replacement. When both are gone, not safe. This should be nice as time goes by.

The Akebono pads stop great and no more dust issues.

I would do both again as the brakes are the most important safety feature on your car and cheap life insurance !

I decided to try the Hawk pads on Brembo stock rotors and I am very glad that I did. The stopping power of the Hawk Brembo setup far exceeds the stopping power I got from EBC Stillen setup. There''s absolutely no fade near the end of the stop with Hawk Brembo setup on heavy braking unlike my previous setups. The stopping power is significantly greater with the Hawk Brembo setup compared to EBC Stillen setup as well. Absolutely love this setup.

If you can see your brembo rotors, definitely a good idea to get the centers painted. The centers and edges are orange with rust within 2 weeks. Purely a matter of asthetics. They work very well, although they take a while to warm up to their optimal temperature. My Del Sol stops incredibly fast once they ve warmed up, but when they re cold I ve got the stopping distance of an Accord.

Original CR-V brakes were horrible. They warped at about 5k miles without pushing them hard at all, so no way I was getting stock again. Tried this Brembo/Akebono combo and they are SO much better than stock. Better feel, better stopping power, perfectly quiet, no brake dust, and they are completely warp free after 5k miles. They just feel more substantial, and I m so happy with them I m even putting them on my 03 VW Corrado that I drive far more aggressively. Seem like a great value especially versus the stock garbage.

Only negative is the middle hub area does show a little rust, but it s not all that noticeable unless you re looking for it. If I had a luxury or sporty car where I was more concerned with appearance it might be a little more of an issue, but not with a CR-V and the brakes work so well I couldn t care less.

If you re looking for great brakes that just do the job well with no muss or fuss I d recommend these highly.

These rotors were fine when new. However, they rusted heavily very fast. They rusted so bad they actually had chunks missing. It was like it was a thin layer of metal pealing of the braking surface of the rotor. This made stopping really rough. It felt like heavily warped rotors but they were not really warped. This car sits all summer and it is our winter car. Since we live in Illinois, it sees heavy road salt in the winter. I also park it outside, but I do cover it when I store it in the summer. These rotors were only a year old. I know this is worst case scenario and I know parking outside and all the salt is likely to blame for this but the fact it was coming off in large flakes is concerning. I am switching to the ATE slotted rotors hoping they will do better.

First of all, let me say that my rating is based on my satisfaction with the discs and brake pads both from tirerack, as compared to what was installed on my car beforehand.

Since putting the Brembo discs and GranSport 6 Pads, braking improved dramatically, and considering my discs were warped before, the current state of things is great. I can say, the pads are really great. Excellent stopping power, with the dust trade off which I am willing to live with.

I kind of wish I had gone with the Cryo-stop because of the no-rust coating, as the Brembo''s tend to look rusty after rain or washing your car, but they work just fine, so it s a waste to change them now.

Pads - Fantastic

Discs - a "no rust" coat would be great, but otherwise PRETTY DARN GOOD

The HPS pad with replacement Brembo rotor is a wonderful combination. The only complains I have is with the bed in process. It took a few hundred miles before the performance improved to the advertised level. The bed in time is definitely longer compared to the EBC greenstuff I have had on my car. However, this is while worth the wait. The brake force is linear, easy to predict, and relatively gentle on the rotors. There are no vibrations at legal speed or sign of fade from multiple stops.

OEM rotors and pads were replaced at 20k with Brembo Replacement Rotors and GM-AC/Delco ceramic pads. Brembo rotors have developed serious pulsation at 15k -- same as originals. Also, ugly rust on rotors demonstrates a lack of quality. Therefore, I''m very disappointed because I expected superior performance from Brembo. Must head to the shop to see what needs to be done. Can''t see why I would use Brembo''s again.

The GM-Delco ceramic pads have little brake dust and are performing very well.

I replaced the front pads and rotors after suffer warped rotors at 30K and 60K miles. The new rotors and pads have heldup well thru 20K miles with no noise or signs of rotor warping. They pads do however create significantly more dust on the wheels than the OEM pads. The installation was easy and as another reviewer noted, an impact driver makes the job of removing the rotor retaining screws a snap. (You can purchase an impact driver for ~ $20 at places like lowes or homedepot.)

I bought these ceramic pads specifically based on the brake dust reduction claim. I was horribly disappointed. These pads produce dark brown dust MUCH MORE than the stock pads. They squeal VERY loudly, too. I might be able to fix/reduce the squeal, but I cannot do anything about the dust. This is with quality Brembo rotors, which I installed at the same time as the pads.

Complete waste of money!!

Had them on my Maxima paired with brembo blank rotors for about ten thousand miles now, 4 wheel disc w/ABS. The initial bite when you first start the car up and are idling around is a little weak, but once they''re heated up the stopping power is ridiculous, I can actually feel my internal organs shift forward and you get a little dizzy when I''m out doing 80-0 "test" runs. These pads work much better when paired with Brembo rotors vs. Stock. I won''t buy anything else but HAWK now.

I did lots of research about the combination of Akebono pads/Brembo rotos and this seemed the best fit for my car. It worked very well throughout it s life until the rotors warped. This is the 4th set of rotors on this car (first 2 were original Ford). The problem is not the rotors themselves but the fact that they are a bit too small for this car and combined with rear drums this setup puts just too much stress on the front brakes. The base car had 14" wheels so the diameter of the rotor had to fit over that wheel too. The Brembos actually lasted almost twice as long as the original Ford parts. The Akebono pads are absolutely fantastic. After 18000 miles there s still 2/3 life left in them. I won t get the Brembo s simply because of price. I won t even consider cross-drilled or slotted rotors because they won t hold up any better; again, the rotors are too small. I ll be putting on less expensive rotors and stick with the Akebono pads.

I had the stock brakes replaced under warranty with Acura and the rotors warped again after 5k miles. I couldn''t take it anymore so I ordered my setup from tire rack. I kept stock rear rotors, just resurfaced them, Brembo replacements in front and HPS pads all around. Car stops beautifully and no matter how much I heat them up I have no complaints. There is some slight noise when they are dirty but I can live with that. I wish the rotors came with the center hub and outside edge painted/powdercoated to eliminate rust though. with 9k already done with them they hardly show any wear. Will always purchase this setup!!

After upgrading from worn out OE pads and rotors, I love the brembos. The pads feel a bit weak on first brake apply in the morning but are great after that. I put a healthy coating of brake lube on the back side of both pads. This all but eliminated the brake squeal that I read about in the reviews. The stopping power is amazing compared to OE.

April 21, 2008

I installed the Brembo replacement rotors and Akebono ProACT ceramic pads on a 2000 Honda Odyssey. This is my 4th front brake pad replacement (previous three replacements were junk from local chains) and the first time I replaced the rotors as well. This pad/rotor combination is 10x better than any of the previous replacements. All of the priors started making noise after about 50 miles of driving. To be fair they were all stopping the original rotors (uncut). Still, the new setup is smooth and silent on stop. Zero vibration, zero pull. Dust was not a huge concern for me, but noise was. I wanted a pad that was quite, but could stop the van. The ceramics have a lower "stopping power rating", so I was a little spooked. I use the van for work, so it moves around fully loaded with tools and supplies (i.e. heavy). Even with all the weight, the van still stops *very* well. I am now purchasing the same combo for my wife s 2004 Odyssey. We have 50K on the original pads, and they are starting to "whine for replacement".

I replaced my worn VW rear rotors with the Brembo OE rotors, and the rust is really a problem. The same Akebono pads on the car s original, resurfaced front rotors are doing great. The rear brakes which were done 6 months and 8,000 miles later, however, are already down to 10% pad life. The rust that comes off those brembos is so profuse that every 2 days the alloys need wiping down. They are corroding away my wheels on the inner surfaces. Brembo is a very good company, but they failed to account for the effect of excessive rust when designing this product. No vibrations, smooth stopping, but I will never buy a non-coated Brembo rotor again. The VW OEM rotors with 84k miles are doing much better with only 1/4 the amount of rust.

The Akebono ProAct pads are a great replacement, but they are a bit expensive. I wanted the Euro formulation, but they didn t come with a brake wear sensor, and my mechanic got confused and said they wouldn t fit my car. Truth be told, those brake wear sensors don t go off until it is way too late to save your rotors. In hind-sight, I should have installed the Akebono Euro pads for a firmer pedal feel and maybe slightly more stopping power. But I like the Akebono ProAct pads. They are very smooth and seem to be holding up well on my front rotors. They have worn much sooner than expected on the rear wheels, and I m sure it is due to all the rust that those Bemembos are continuously shedding.

I replaced the Rotors with these Brembo rotors after driving through Kokomo In and had the stock rotors warp.

I thought being Brembo, that these would be decent. 6 months later after driving city only except for one more trip down through kokomo and a bit of mountains the rotors are warped. A few hard braking applications seem to turn these rotors to crap. They still work decent around town, but on the highway it got pretty scary. Replacing with slotted ATE''s next. If you drive through mountains or a many stop-light town, I recommend slotted rotors or a brand other than Brembo.

Rotors warped after 10,000 miles and needed to be re-cut. I would NOT recommend attempting to increase stopping power through the use of ANY aftermarket parts. The Camry front disc/rear drum configuration lacks sufficient brake swept area. From this experience I would suggest anyone with a Japanese car with disc/drum setups to buy a complete Brembo(or other mfgr) 4-wheel disc conversion with larger rotors at all four corners if you want to improve your cars braking performance.

Original rotors warped w/in 60K miles after two sets of pads. Replacement (Midas - big mistake)rotors warped w/in 35K miles on one set of pads. First set of Akebono ProACT pads are now ready to be replaced, after over 100K of some hard highway and country road driving (on sport suspension and tires). Gonna order new Brembo rotors, but may not need them as this is the first pad change on them and they ve not shown any signs of needing anything more than to be turned (I just waited too long and may be metal to metal before I get the new pads UPS d to me). Anyway, this Brembo/Akebono set-up has been absolutely fantastic for stopping power, fade, noise, and dust. Given the Gen 4 Camry s are famous for a bad front brake design, this combo is a great fix!

GET THESE if you need stock replacements. My 90 Camry had Brembos from the factory. Great replacement, good appearance (no rust). DON''T GET THE JUNK OFF OF FLEA-BAY. Been there, done that (on another vehicle)and that stuff just is terrible. Go with what your OEM used, or BETTER. Trust the Tire Rack -- A little more to pay now but way better products from people who KNOW cars tires, suspensions, and brakes!

This is a cheap replacement rotor for your stock rotors. They weigh noticeably less than stock, same diameter, and thinner rotor thickness. They will rust up on you within a month but will not affect braking performance. I''m satisfied with them so far, but will definitely not buy them again. Rusted rotors definitely kills the look of your car, it''s a pride thing. Unless you re willing to invest time each month sanding away the rust.

Brake pads are great. Rotors have warped twice. Replacing when I get new brake pads. Going to upgrade to the LTS pads and the Cryo rotors to help eliminate the warping. Will rate those in the next year.

After bedding the pads worked great. Car is my daily driver but also used for open tracking. I never put these pads on the track so I don''t know how they would perform there. But for daily driving braking performance was very good. But that''s it. The backing plates did not fit right and cause a "thump" noise every brake application as the plate tapped the caliper bracket. These pads created LOTS of dust. The worst part was the noise. They squealed. After bedding I gave them a few hundred miles on the new Brembo rotors but they did not improve.

I got excellent performance from the original PBR pads and a couple sets of Motorcraft replacments, although neither lasted that long with track use. I removed the Brembo pads and they will be burned up at the track. I got more motorcraft pads and will continue to use them on and off the track. The Brembo pads, if inexpensive, are best suited for track days for those who don''t want full-race pads. They are not good for a daily driver and I will not buy them again.

Other than the normal process of oxidation that leaves the little bit of rust after sitting, the performance of Brembo and Hawk HPS have proven to me great. The pulsation is not there because theses rotors are more durable than Factory Installed. With my moderate driving, I am not going to hammer these out but instead enjoy the experience. Would HIGHLY recommend this combination to any Dodge Stratus owner.

The Akebono brakes with the Brembo replacement rotors are the best thing that happened to my Subaru since I purchased it. I am extremely pleased with them and will be purchasing them for all my vehicles when they need them. Brake dust is a thing of the past. My only complaint is that the rotors did rust a little bit but not where performance counts, only on the hub. Braking performance has increased dramatically.

Brembo replacement rotors became heavily rusted in a month or two - look ugly. Later, learned that I should have had them zinc-painted before instalation - that shouldn''t be necessary, if it''s true. Also, the Brembo rotors warped within 1,000 miles - not bad enough to replace, but they are annoying. I''m not happy, the OEM rotors were superior.

Delco non-metalic, ceramic pads were installed with the Brembo rotors - those pads are excellent in every way, exceeding the OEM s. I wonder why GM doesn t use this pad as OEM.

Stock rotors warped with less than 30k miles on them. I replaced both, rotors and pads, myself for less than $200.00 (including shipping). I now have a car that stops better than stock with very little dusting on the wheels. The steering wheel used to shudder in my hands so bad it was down right nerve racking. Now the Accord stops on a dime without shudder or pull in either direction. I will definently be upgrading to the braided lines up front for even better performance. Tire Rack was very helpful through it all too. By the way, the 2 retaining screws that have to come out in order to remove the rotors, can be removed by simply spraying some Liquid Wrench on them and letting them soak for 15-20 minutes. Hit them a couple of times with a screw driver and hammer and they ll come right off. You ll have to push while you unscrew but it can be done. When they do come loose, it s with a "pop" when they do. My new rotors had the new screws with them.

I''ve been using Motorcraft pads for daily driving and occasional open track use. After using two sets of them I can say they are very good, if a little dusty.

When I saw the Brembo Sport pads on sale for $43 I thought I''d give them a try. After bedding them with 6 to 15mph stops then driving normally to let them cool they did very well. They still need a couple hundred miles of use to be fully bed in. In the 50 miles I''ve driven them they will squeal a little at certain slow speeds at certain levels of braking. I don''t care much but the factory and motorcraft pads never did this.

I''m sure these pads will do fine, and maybe better on the track than the Motorcrafts but it wasn''t worth the $20 I saved. I was hoping I''d really like them and buy a couple more sets but I won''t. I''ll use these up before too long so It''s not like it''s a long term commitment. This is the cars fourth set of pads in 28000 miles. Braking a heavy car from high speeds really uses them up.

I don''t recommend these pads unless you use up pads quickly in which case the price is right.

The performance of these pads is as good as,but not better than, the O.E.M. pads (that lasted 50,000 miles)but the brake dust is horrible! It puts a reddish-brown coating on the entire wheel and tire.It even stained my Toyota alloys to where they won t come perfectly clean anymore. The Toyota pads never did that. Also, they squealed for the first 10,000 miles and still do once in a while.I have no problem with the Brembo Replacement rotors as I feel no signs of warpage after 24,000 miles.I will be checking the brakes soon to see how they are wearing.I would definately not buy these pads again.

I road raced on these for a complete season. The Hawk Blues pads are known to be the most aggressive rotor-eating pads out there. The rotors held up the entire season! The vanes extended further into the center than the OE rotors, keeping the disc much cooler, thus extending their life and keeping the pads from cooking.

I now have them on my tow vehicle! Great rotors!

I replaced my worn out and well loved Ferodo pads with the Brembo Sports since they were half the cost of another set of Ferodo DS2500''s. The Brembos are an excellent choice for the money on clearence, initial bite isn''t quite as aggressive as my Ferodos were, but not bad and with a few good stops they''re just a hair below my old pads in stopping power. Noise was the same, as there is none. Like the 92 Passat owner, I prefer my Ferodos, but will keep the Brembo pads untill it''s time for another set.

The Brembo OE rotors are just as I expected, high quality plain rotors for a great price. What''s better is they have wear out markers that tell you when it''s getting close and when its time for replacement. A nice feature on an already great product.

These brembo rotors are not as good as OEM. No coating on rotors, so they have rusted everywhere except pad surface.

I am running axxis metal master pads. These pads produced no noticeable dust with the oem rotors. But all it takes is a good rain, oxidation, and I get streaks of grit on my wheels again. This is probably why fewer vendors are selling these rotors.

I chose these rotors because I have not had success with slotted rotors in the past. Once slotted or cross-drilled rotors "warp" they cannot be repaired. I also took note that F1 cars seem to do alright without slotted or grooved brake rotors (rain or shine). Standard rotors will be my choice from here on out.

Performance wise the rotors are fine. I recommend the Axxis pads. Best I have ever had, and easy on the wallet. They even have a new line of environmentally friendly pads. "My ratings are based on this combination of rotors and pads. I use the brakes a lot. I don''t believe in using the transmission for braking as pads and rotors are cheaper to replace."

What a difference and no problems after 20,000 miles. The Brembo Rotors are cheaper than the OEM Ford Rotors, but they last and perform much better. I would highly recommend the Akebono pads as well. I ve used a variety of brands of ceramic pads and these have been the best.

Brembo rotors seem to be holding up fine. They are rusty now, although it took a month to get that way. Stops are true and solid. Akebono pads are also perfect, if you like brake dust and noise, regardless of speed, pressure applied, temperature or humidity. I have replaced pads and rotors probably twenty times over my driving life on several different vehicles and this is the first time I was genuinely unhappy with the noise level on a set of pads. My car is not brand new, but I take care of it and it still looks nice. However, when I pull up to a stop light, a drive thru, an exit ramp, etc. it sounds like a total hooptie. I will NEVER purchase another Akebono product. EVER.

Replaced meyle semi metalics due to noise. these pads are quiet and clean but it takes three times the brake pedal pressure to stop. We did replace the stock rotors at the same time with brembo factory replacements so we are not sure if that helped or hurt. The old brakes would fade twice as fast towing. Again not sure if it is the pads, rotors, or the combination of both helping. We are going to see how they do for a little while longer before we replace them.

The Brembo replacement rotor was the exact rotor that came off my Silverado SS, so I was happy to see that Chevy was using a performance rotor to stop all that power. I have been very happy with the feel and stopping power of this rotor, but I have to give low marks for appearance. Immediately after installing the Brembo replacement rotors and driving in the first rain the rotor housings rusted. The area of the rotor that meets the pad stays clean from the pad friction, but the rotor housing has an ugly coat of rust on it, that quite frankly looks like s**t. It s like they weren t treated with any kind of anti-corrision solution. The Akebono ProACT pads are very impressive, and I have had no noise or dust problems with them.

I installed the Brembo replacement rotors and Akebono ProACT ceramic pads on a 2000 Honda Accord EX sedan (4 cyl, manual) at 81K miles. This is primarily my wife s daily driver that we bought used at 42K miles. The original pads and rotors were just down to the wear pads on all 4 corners, to give an idea of how easy she is on brakes. The replacement parts pop right on. Results - the new pads are completely quiet, stop a bit better than the stock units, and seem to dust a little bit more on the wheels. I ll see how the dusting goes as the pads get completely bedded in. The Brembo rotors rust quickly and aren t the greatest looking units after a while. They work fine, but they get a good coat of surface rust. Installation notes - I found that to get the factory rotor retaining screws (2 per rotor installed at the factory to keep the rotors in place on the assembly line), it was best to drill through them with a bit the size of the middle of the Phillips head, then drill off the head with a bit a little larger than the thread size but smaller than the head size. After the head of the screw is gone, the rotors come right off and you can turn out the remaining threads with pliers. Of note, the front Brembo rotors don t come with retaining screws but the rears do.

Granted I was replacing broken with working I found that my stopping power was greatly increased and fade was eliminated. Just make sure you have proper brake fluid levels also because that helps. ;) Be sure to break everything in as the manufacturer recommends or you''ll waste your money on the purchase due to damage and poor performance.

With normal to hard braking my stock rotors would have warped AGAIN. The Brembo s have never exhibited any warpage.

My rotors were warped and when I replaced them with these, the braking has increased significantly and the juttering has ceased. These are excellent OEM replacements.

The Brembo rotors have a two wear indicators drilled into the surface which I can hear as they pass the pads when braking. I thought I had created an interference when I installed the pads, so I removed the wheels and inspected (and inspected, measured, and inspected.) And all I can ascertain is the dimples create the sound. Other than the slight clicking when braking, the brake components are quiet and smooth, and though not broken-in the clamping power increases each time I drive the vehicle. I also used a power bleeder to flush the brake lines. The power bleeder is convenient, but a little bit messy. Adjusting the reservoir level is probably easier using a vacuum bleeder.

Very good quality, shims included. The rear pads took 600-700 miles to bed and obtain full stopping power. I was getting worried. After that, they have stopped like oem, with no noise or noticable dusting. Good for oem performance, although I was hoping for a little improvement on the grip that I didn t get. Brembo rotors are true and smooth, very good quality.

I installed the brake lines in combination with rebuilt calipers and new EBC Greenstuff pads so it s hard to separate out how much effect the Goodridge lines had by themselves. However the combination made a huge difference. There is no longer any soft spot at the top of the pedal travel - I almost put myself through the windshield at the first stop sign. (Okay, slight exaggeration, but I was quite surprised.) In fact I m worried that they might be *too* touchy in wet or snowy weather now. Time will tell. Some of the touchiness is probably due to the pads, which are supposed to have a high coefficient of friction.. but the pedal feel is amazingly direct, and that certainly is due to the lines.

One thing I didn t like about the lines is that they are not coated so the braiding will probably quickly cut through anything it rubs against. I m concerned about dirt getting inside the braiding too. Also, they were not marked front vs. rear, and they re longer than the stock lines, so I inadvertantly installed the rears on the front on the first try. (They did fit...) Mildly annoying.
