I bought the pads and rotors last year intending to do the brake job. Due to circumstance, and the fact that the factory rotors and pads were still in good shape I put off doing this job until recently. Once installed we too the Burban to Santa Cruz for a short vacation. First impressions were that there was much more feel in the brakes. I could feel where the greatest friction point was and keep it there with little modulation. I gave the pads an 8 rating for responsiveness as initial bite is good but not as good as when the brakes are hot. Once heated up though, incredible is the word I d use. I had an unintended panic stop and while the first application of the brakes was no better than stock, the second was just unbelievable.

Installation was straight forward and required no special tools. Kudos to the Tire Rack customer service team too. Initially, I took the brakes apart, expecting to replace them. When I opened the boxes I found that I d received parts for a 1500 instead. I called and the customer service team took care of everything without issue. I ll use Tire Rack again without hesitation.

The Hawk HPS pads and Cryo-Stop rotors have been a very good cost effective up-date. THe stocks would grab and lock-up during autocrossing. The present set-up is very quiet on the street with much less drust than the stock set up. Brake feel and control are very good. No more lock ups street or autocrossing.

To all the people rating the Hawk HPS pads, check your rotor combination. The drilled/slotted rotors are FOR SHOW/TRACK... They just make things worse on the street. I combined stainless brake lines, HPS pads and smooth cryo-treated rotors and it is AMAZING the stopping power. I drive VERY spirited and these things stop so fast everything in my car gets thrown to the front when I brake hard. I was most impressed when I took them on a very twisted road course and after a few minutes in and the pads warmed up it seems like the stopping power increased. Not a single bit of fade for the whole course, but I haven t tried them on a track yet. I was so impressed by the pads I bought another set to keep in my garage for when I go to change them out again.

I bought this as a replacement to the stock rotor I got with the car. (Around 111k.) They still seem ok, I have some life left. I''d say the stock will last longer, but they worked.

Very quiet and vibration-free. Stopping power is strong and consistent. On par or better than stock brakes so far. Would recommend to anyone with a Saab or Subaru. Crystop rotors look great and appear that they will do a nice job resisting corrosion. ATE Ceramic brake pads appear very high quality. Worried that the Hawks would eat up the rotors too much. These seem to have a good balance between stopping power and wear. Great value for the money.

I have been running this brake set up for years, trying different rotors to go with these pads on the track. I have tried at least five different makes, cryo treated and not, including Brembo, powerslot, FMS and now these cryo-stop rotors. In all cases proper bedding in and heating procedures were followed. With past rotors, the life tends to be around 10 to 15 days (40 or 60 heat cycles) so I use them hard. The cryo-stop rotors started getting mottled (tiny vertical cracks) after about 30 minutes of driving, and one cracked right through after four proper heat cycles (i.e. in one day of use). This is by far the worst performance from a rotor I have ever experienced under very comparable conditions.

I put the set on and immediately felt the difference. The brake dust is minimal, and the stopping power is excellent. I''ll have to see how long they last. Rotors only seem to last about 2 years on this vehicle. It''s heavy, and it gets a lot of in town brake usage.

The cryo-stop rotors were fine but the ATE ceramic pads were terrible in stopping power. I ended-up replacing them with brake pads from a locate auto parts store. They worked much better than the ATE Ceramic. Part of it was my fault and I should have listen to Todd on getting the Hawk brake pads like he suggested.

I installed the brake pad/rotor combination of akebono ceramic pads and cryo-stop rotors 400 miles ago, and warped the rotors the first 30 miles !! Since, then I resurfaced the rotors on two different occasions and put other pads on to determine if the rotors were warping from the akebono''''s, but no. Honestly isn''''t there an organization that checks for minimum standards?? THESE ROTORS ARE A WASTE OF MONEY !!! If you don''''t believe me, buy them and find out the hard way.

It has only been 2K miles, but I am pleased to this point with the rotor/pad combo.

No pulsing, smooth stops. Good brake pedal feel when stopping. The stock rotors were pulsing at 18K and I drove them another 7K, until I couldn''t stand it anymore. I think it is ridiculous that factory rotors have become quick disposables. Charge me another 50 bucks for the car when building it, and put some decent hardware on them.
