The OE pads were only replaced twice in 40k miles and the rotors not even once. The pads were terrible, but the rotors were alright, would have liked them to last longer. The new HPS pads have exceeded my expectations for daily driving. They can slowly and gently bring the car down from 60mph and make it feel like you slowed down from 25mph. They are so gentle, and quiet. I can count on them for daily driving, and when I hammer them really hard, they are amazing. They get better and better the more you beat them up, I love it. When the car comes to a full stop, you hear a noise that suggests the wheels have stopped spinning and the pads have completely gripped and stopped the rotors. This sound, while it may sound stupid, is very reassuring. My brakes give me confidence. My only one complaint though is that the first time I brake hard after the car has been sitting a little bit, when the pads are cold and discs wet with rainwater, is that they have a difficult time gripping the rotor. These are best when they re heated up. I m not blaming the pads, but it s more the rotor, because they re just blanks. If I got some drilled rotors to evacuate the water better, I m confident these would stop without any issues. I highly recommend these. It s true what others say about the initial bite lacking, but thats what contributes to their gentleness, you just need to put your foot into it the slightest bit more and they will STOP. I ve got new Toyo Proxes R1Rs on my car, and these pads are enough to overwhelm those tires and lock up the brakes, which causes ABS to kick in. If you know the Proxes R1R, you ll know that s quite a feat.

Very dangerous brakes, as they need ample time to "warm up" to be really effective.
I do not recommend these brakes for the average driver. Worst braking is when freeway driving and then suddenly having to apply when rotors/pads are cold. Those split seconds of limited friction can kill you; as it did almost me. Called the Hawk folks and after a long time they finally responded to my concerns. No satisfactory answer given. Next order will still be from Tire Rack (these folks are great), but I think I ll go back to the Akebono s which, in comparison to the Hawk s, worked out a lot better for me.

These pads are a big improvement over stock, but they are not without their faults. In temperatures over 40 degrees Fahrenheit, these pads are very good. Some very slight scraping noise can be heard upon the first brake application, if the car has been sitting for a while. This quickly subsides and isn t a nuisance at all. They have a strong, but not overpowering initial bite. Pedal feel is slightly better (harder) than stock. The pads are a bit less progressive than stock, but overall power is fantastic. They resist fade quite well.

The only true issue I have with these brakes are when they are cold. When it is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit and the brakes haven t had time to warm up, there is very little braking force. You really have to stomp on these brakes to get any real stopping power. After the first one or two brake applications, the pads are fine though.

Overall I would definitely recommend these pads. Their fairly poor initial bite when cold is far outweighed by their tremendous power when they come up to temperature. Just remember to test their power when heading out for the first time on a cold day.

I bought these Centric Plain 120 rotors to replace Brembo blanks that had about 148,000 miles on them and started a little steering wheel shake. So far I am very happy with them. They ve worked great right our of the box with Hawk HPS pads. No smells or burning off corrosion coatings and no squealing or squeaking. The cross hashing does make a slight low grown, but to me it is a more confidence building sound that the brakes are really biting in than an annoyance. This rotor and pad set-up brakes smooth, strong and quiet. With so many miles on this car, I didn t want to spend too much, so I didn t go with the cryo treated, but since I drive about 42,000 miles a year, I wanted rotors that were good and well-made enough that I don t have to replace them soon. I will probably try the cryo-treated on my Odyssey minivan when I replace them in the next year or so.

I use the Miata for both street and autocross. The upgrade was very effective, especially for the cost. The brakes not only stop faster and are more fade resistant than stock, but are much easier to modulate also. No more lock-ups and flat spotted tires.

Great products so far and my expectations have been exceeded. Poor reviews on the Tire rack web site but other web sites provide many positive reviews of this brake combo. That led to my decision to buy.

A great street pad for a daily driver, Minimal wear after 10k miles. Works well cold. Excellent feel, response, and easy to modulate without anti-lock brake system. Much better than stock or Advance Silverline used in the past. Wear rate excellent for normal use.

I,ve put about 3,000 miles on these brake parts, and the rotors still have the cross hatch machine marks on them. Took a few weeks for them to break in, but now they work really well. No serious brake dust either. What a relief. I will put these on my other Volvo as soon as it s ready.

I changed from the horrible stock system to the HPS pads and slotted rotors and never been happier. No more dust, stops on a dime. Saved my wife from hitting a deer. We don t race the car, but do drive it VERY spirited and I can t say enough about them. I will be putting the same setup on my Audi a4 very soon.

My 1999 Ford Taurus SHO definitely had some stopping power issues from day 1 when purchased it in 2000. The brakes felt undersized for this heavy V8 car. Upgrading with Hawk pads and Ate rotors produced a dramatic improvement in braking power. Although the hawk pad were rated high for brake dust and noise, I had no issues with this.
