I was looking for a better setup for Autobahn driving and this setup works better than stock but the pads do not bit aggressive enough when braking hard. The initial bite is good but they feel like they will let go during the last few seconds before coming to a complete stop. I am currently looking for better pads.

I had a pad (Pagid) from an online BMW parts manufacturer and after the initial break in period the pad were essentially sticking to the rotors resulting in a horrible vibration in the front end. After going to the dealer a handful of times it came down to the brake pads. Replaced the old Pagid pads with Hawks and the problem was fixed as well as adding stopping power and overall performance. I have these pads on my CTS-V as well, it s a good pad!

The combination of HPS pads and ATE rotors are an ideal solution for more whoa power with no noise in rain or shine no matter the temperature.

vs my oem pads this is a lot better in every way. Less dust, no noise, way more stopping power and great for occasional track days.

Much improved over the stock pads the car came with. They had a lack of initial bite and a non-linear response. Bought the HPS s based on prior experience with HPS and HP+ pads on my Miata and they brought the brake feel and performance up to what I felt an RX-8 should feel like.

Work well on the track. OK around town after they warm up. Noisy. Rattle in caliper after 20k miles.

Brakes had lower stopping power than the stock ceramic pads. Noise is too much to ignore and higher than expected with no benefits over the ceramic type. I should ve purchased the Akebono s that I m accustomed to. I would not purchase again.

Rotors: Power Slot Cryo-Treated Rotor

January 22, 2011

After changing pads and warping the stock rotors three times in 50K miles due to aggressive backroads driving, it was time for a change from stock rotors and pads on my 2007 Fit. The Hawk HPS Street pads and Power Slot Cryo rotors seem to be a perfect match for my wife s and my driving styles. After installation I carefully bedded in the new pads according to Hawk s instructions (lots of smoke/dust by the seventh hard stop, don t be alarmed.) Since then the increase in performance compared to stock is notable. Fade is gone when braking hard deep into corner after corner, pedal feel is consistent and firm, and there s absolutely no sign of rotor warpage. Decreasing radius downhill turns are no longer a subject of fear and trepidation. After 2000+ miles I m totally satisfied. Yes, this pad/rotor combination is a bit pricey, and the initial response to light pedal pressure is not as reassuring as stock brake pads...just press a bit harder and the stopping power brings a smile to your face. And, be sure to flush/fill the system with fresh brake fluid every 12-18 months to keep the pedal firm.

The Acura CL coupe is a very heavy car for the components it uses for braking. While the upgrade to HPS Hawk Pads and the Centric rotors were a definite improvement for street use, a big brake kit would probably have a much better impact to this heavy chassis. I would recommend this route for anyone whose driving is more spirited than the use this car gets as my daughter s daily driver. My main concern is keeping the kid safe. Fade in this case would be much more of a problem if I lived in a more mountainous region (other than flat NJ). Of course if I lived somewhere else I wouldn t have an Acura as a daily driver. I have the Hawks on two Ford F150 s, a 98 and an 08 along with my BMW Z4 I find them to be a big improvement over stock pads.

Rotors: ATE PremiumOne Slotted Rotor

December 23, 2010

My last set lasted 50,000 miles of hard driving. So I just installed a new set on the previously purchased ATE Slotted Rotors. stops just as well as if I still had new rotors installed. no brake noise at all.

never remove wheels unless the brakes are ice cold to the touch or you can warp rotors. Always tighten your wheels with a torque wrench or your brake life and performance will be reduced.Flush your brake fluid completely and bleed all 4 brakes at each pad replacement. Don't compromise a proper brake job and become a LOSER!
