The Hawk XP pads do generate a fair amount of dust, but provide quiet effective braking performance. I appreciated the advice for how best to bed in pads/rotors.
I m well satisfied with the choice of product and Tire Rack as a vendor. Thanks.

I ll try a more aggressive pad next time. These Hawks make no noise and produce little dust. It s hard to tell if this combo is any better than stock in terms of stopping, but the Power Slot rotors are thicker and heavier and presumably less likely to warp.

The rotor and pad combination have been awesome. The truck stops better and the pedal feel is the same.

The Hawk ceramic pad works very well with the slotted rotors. Because of ceramic s hard characteristics, it requires a performance rotor over an OEM replacement. It s not so much about the pad or the rotor, but more about the combination that makes this setup work so well. To give you an idea of my driving with this product, spirited doesn t even begin to explain it. Not to mention I ve tacked on 42K in one year. Stopping have never been so easy, the pad has yet to make a noise and brake dust is about average. I m happy with these products and would recommend them to a friend.

Better stopping than stock but just as dusty if not worse.

I purchased the Powerslot rotors (cryo-treated) along with the Hawk performance ceramic pads. NOISY!!! would be the word to describe this combo on a 2002 4wd Blazer (S-10 style). The vehicle stops straight at all speeds but VERY noisy when applying the brakes at slow speeds such as approaching a stop sign or stop light or even lightly applying around a parking lot. It s embarrassing! I ve completed numerous brake jobs and sum up the brake noise as being a bad rotor and brake combo. Anyone reading this could suggest lightly sanding the rotor with embry cloth or applying a sticky adhesive to the back side of the pads to eliminate or reduce the brake noise - these have all been applied with no noise reduction. The brake lines were completely purged including the master cylinder and renewed with the correct brake oil. Everything was cleaned with an approved brake cleaner to ensure no particles or residue were present on the brake pads or rotors. My recommendation is NOT to use this combo for a replacement brake job. I purchased this exact same combo simultaneously on a 2002 Mustang GT with similar results - not as much noise but still present. I would like to add that I was not impressed upon opening and inspecting the Hawk pads. There is a cross-cut that exists on most ceramic pads and upon pairing the Hawk pads, the cross-cut only existed on one pad. So lets do the math...4 wheels, 4pairs of pads so that is 8 pads altogether. 7pads had NO cross-cut, 1 pad contained a cross-cut. Summary - poor packaging. Similar with the Mustang Hawk performance ceramic pads - 4 wheels, 4pairs of pads = 8pads altogether. 6 pads contained the cross-cut, 2 had NO cross-cut. So where do you put the cross-cut section? inside or outside of the rotor assuming the force applied is equal in both directions. In all my experience brake pads are IDENTICAL in both geometry and optimization features.

Can t answer "responsiveness" since haven t had to make any abrupt stops. Otherwise they don t seem to have the stopping power I expected.

Issue One: Be sure your installer checks the pad brackets as they may need tightening down. Both my rear installations rattled on bumps and needed to be tightened to secure the pads from rattling.
Issue Two: New Rotors and Pads, even after break-in period, are intermittently squealling, very annoying.
Issue Three: Need to inspect for other causes but I m finding extreme shimmying upon applying the brakes at moderate to high speeds.
Bottom Line: There s got to be better product out there, pass on this combination.

Went to the Powerslot cryo rotors because of constant warping of OEM rotors and aftermarket OEM-style rotors (Brembo), sometimes as soon as 5000 miles without any heavy use. Have a feeling that their is a basic design flaw in the Tacoma braking system that might have something to do with the same size rotor being use on the base Tacoma with standard rims and tires and the Prerunner model with the much larger and heavier rim and tire package. To early to tell if the cryo rotors will resist warping any better, but am concerned since these Powerslot cryo rotors started life as the same Brembo OEM rotors that warped quickly. I guess they use Brembo s as the base product then slot and cryo treat them. The Hawk cermaics pads give better bite and create about half the dust as the very dirty OEM pads.
