It’s a fact that venting the gas emitted by hot brake pads improves overall brake performance and helps minimize fade. At one time the conventional wisdom in racing circles was to cross-drill brake rotors to aid cooling and eliminate the gas emitted by brake pads. However, today’s elite teams in open wheel, Indy and Trans Am racing are moving away from crack-prone, cross-drilled brake rotors in favor of rotors modified with a fatigue-resistant slotting process.

Power Slot rotors bring this technology to the street and are specifically designed to run cooler, promote dramatically improved wet and dry brake performance, and are a safer alternative to drilling crack prone holes through cast iron rotors.

The Power Slot slotting process removes far less of the rotor’s surface area than conventional cross drilling to help maintain the highest possible co-efficient of friction for the brake pads to work against. Slotted rotors trade only 3. 7% of their surface area to the slots that vent the gasses, while drilled rotors sacrifice up to 7. 75% of their surface area, and rotors that are both drilled and slotted sacrifice up to 9. 38% of their surface area. Less surface area means less stopping friction.

Starting with select castings manufactured in Italy and the U. S. , all Power Slot rotors are CNC machined to application specific tolerances that utilize a patent pending tapered-slot technology to create a vent for brake dust and pad gasses while preserving rotor strength.

The slot designs of Power Slot rotors are angled to use the rotors’ direction of rotation to enhance performance. This makes them side specific with left side (driver’s) and right side (passenger’s) rotors.

Brightly-plated Power Slot rotors also eliminate rusty rotor syndrome and enhance the look of custom wheels. Their military spec cadmium plating adds a high-tech appearance and corrosion resistance.

Power Slot rotors are designed to beat the challenges of high performance driving and severe duty brake demands, and represent one of the most cost-efficient performance brake upgrades offered in the market today.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Slotted, drilled or dimpled rotors offered as OEM replacements should not be considered appropriate for high-speed track use.

While grooved, drilled and slotted rotors offer an enhanced appearance and add some resistance to the boundary layer of gasses that can build up between the pad and rotor, they are not designed to withstand the extreme temperatures that are produced on the racetrack. If they are used on the track, it is very important that the rotors be carefully inspected and should not be driven on if even minor signs of deterioration are seen. Note, too, that if any products are used on the track they are not warrantable.

NOTE: BRAKES ARE A SAFETY CRITICAL PART OF A MOTOR VEHICLE.

Brake components should be installed by a competent mechanic in a professional manner. Any incorrect installation of brake components can cause a major safety problem or an accident. If you are not a competent and qualified mechanic you should not attempt to install these products, but should take the vehicle to a vehicle dealer or competent automotive mechanic for their installation.

Disc brake pads and rotors are wear items and as such, should be inspected regularly and replaced as necessary. Read More.

Responsiveness, stopping power and fade would probably rate higher without all my stock components. I''m planning on new brake lines and possibly a new master cylinder soon.

The Power Slot front rotors and ATE Slot Rear rotors are great. The Hawk HPS street/sport pads were returned and replace with stock pads because of no stopping power and was dangerous because very poor braking.

Noise is not a squeel, just a whirring sound.
