This is the second of my personal vehicles onto which I ve installed these brake pads, and have been extremely pleased with them.

I have to confess that, during the first couple hundred mile break-in period of these pads, as well as a new set of slotted and dimpled rotors, there seemed to be much more black-ish dust on my wheels than I d expected. It turned that the dust was most likely coming from the "burning-off" of the whatever chemical preservative(s) had been applied to those rotors.

Since that time, these pads have left very little dust on my wheels and, for the most part, is barely noticeable, and is easily removed with a soft-bristled brush, or damp cloth.

I hate brake dust and decided as soon as I got my new car I wanted to replace the pads. After reading numerous reviews and forums I went with the Akebono pad. Since the pads were replaced immediately I have no reference to stock other than the OEM pads were so new they were still soft and lacked any bite. Right out of the block the Akebonos had better initial bite, but still not what I wanted. I have now almost fully bedded the brakes and initial bite is better, but I hope it improves more. The first 1-2 stops when cold are softer than I prefer, but one the pads get heated a bit they stop great. They are very linear with a tad of grab near full stop. I wish they had better bite overall, but they are very good brakes and literally no brake dust. They make zero noise and being ceramic I expect them to last 40K+ miles with no issues. Even the Audi tech that installed them said they fit perfect and he has done Akebono for several customers.
My M37S had factory Akebono brakes that were much better, but those were designed from the start for the rotor and calipers on the M37S. I would give these a 10 is the initial bite and overall bite improves, but I was so spoiled with the brakes on my Infiniti that I use that as the benchmark.

These were exact replacements for the stock front pads on my MB CLK 320 Convertible. I have gone past the break-in period. The Akebono Euro Ceramic pads definitely produce less dust than the previous stock pads. So far, the stopping power is comparable--no noticeable difference after a couple hundred miles. I was gentle for the first few hundred miles to allow them to set as was instructed. (With previous stock pads I would run them hard at the beginning.) I paired them with new Balo rotors, which seem to be OK. The Balos are 30% cheaper than MB, but do tend to rust on the hub. I made sure to lube the metal to metal contact points on the caliper, and even lubed the shims on the back of the pads; there has been absolutely no noise from the brakes. Also, the application of the brakes is smooth with absolutely no pulling, vibration or grabbing. If the rear brakes ever wear out, I will probably replace with Akebono pads, too (I may do it anyway if the rear start looking dirtier than the front.)
