''Kangaroo Paw'' is a patented, high-tech disc rotor ventilation system designed and manufactured in Australia by Disc Brakes Australia and available on rotors for select applications. "Kangaroo Paw" technology delivers significantly improved braking performance. Even under extreme braking conditions. Kangaroo Paw rotor designs run cooler, are stronger, and outperform traditional straight-vane disc rotors.

The ''Kangaroo Paw'' design features a series of 144 diamond- and tear drop-shaped pillars and columns individually spaced between the rotor faces.
This system provides two key advantages.
First, is the ability to cool the rotor faster than ever before. As the disc rotor rotates, aerodynamic turbulence around the individual pillars and columns is generated, increasing the force of hot air out from within the internal areas of the rotor.
Second is increased dimensional stability across the disc rotor directly achieved by the individually spaced pillars and columns.
These advantages increase the disc rotor's efficiency by as much as 20% when compared to conventional rotor designs. A 20% increase in disc rotor efficiency directly translates to reduced brake operating temperatures, brake fade, disc rotor stresses, disc thickness variation, run-out and shudder.
All 4000 series rotors also benefit from DBA's "Longlife Slotted" design. The rotors are manufactured to QS-9000 quality standards using premium grade materials with a high iron content and dense metal matrix resulting in long wear and safe, consistent stopping power.

In my brake system conversion they stop well in daily driving and show no fade when braking heavy from 150+ MPH to 40 MPH with average repeated use. For those of you using these on the track, they are intended for normal/heavy street use, not track. If you want true track rotors upgrade to the 5000 series and stop playing games. Consider the weight of your vehicle as well. Mine is nearly 5000 lbs. and the 4000 series rotors have stood up well without any cracking or overheating. Larger vehicles, such as trucks, may want to look into the 5000 series as well which will also help prolong the life of your bearings, a common failure on many models. In addition, anyone complaining of warping or brake shimmy your rotors were not installed properly. These rotors DO NOT WARP. The shimmy you get is from high and low spots on the rotor caused by uneven friction material transfer, especially when using ceramic formulations. This occurs when the rotors have excessive lateral runout (wobble), which may be as little as a few thousandths of an inch. You MUST clean your hub mounting surface for the rotor hat with a wire wheel or other device to remove rust and other debris, check the inside of the hat for uneven paint (if painted) and check for lateral runout with the rotor installed using the wheel lugs and proper torque specifications. If you do not follow these procedures and properly torque your wheels after installation the problems you are having are caused by YOUR FAILURE as a mechanic and not an inferior product. I ve seen people put new OE rotors and pads on a car without checking and have a pulsation in 3000 miles. |
