The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) offers one of the most accessible and cost-effective ways to experience the thrill of competing in a vehicle by simply strapping on a helmet and buckling your seatbelt. The SCCA Solo program separates cars into classes based on their performance potential and offers driving enthusiasts over 1,200 local events across the country to participate in.

Solo or autocross competition allows drivers to run one at a time against the clock (hence the term "Solo") on courses typically defined by traffic cones in a large, open, controlled, paved area, i.e. a parking lot. Since the risks are relatively low and maximum speeds are those of normal highway driving, Solo is an excellent way for drivers to safely refine their skill at the limit of their vehicle's performance.

The 2012 season marks Tire Rack's 18th year as the title sponsor of the National SCCA Solo program. Throughout the year the Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Tour brings larger National Tour and ProSolo events to venues around the country that give local members a chance to pit their skills against other drivers from their region, as well as national competitors. The National SCCA Solo series events focus on "Tire Rack SCCA Championship Road to Lincoln" and the Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championship and Tire Rack ProSolo National Championship held at the Lincoln Airpark in Lincoln, Nebraska, a 60-acre site that is perfect for hosting the World's Largest Motorsports Championships with over 1,200 competitors from across the country.

Supporting the Tire Rack SCCA National Solo Program is the Divisional Championship program and the addition of the Eastern/Western States Championship, designed to further support the drive towards the year-end championship events in Lincoln. As an additional enhancement, the SCCA has also instituted the Triple Crown award to recognize competitors who win a Divisional Championship, Eastern/Western States Championship and National Championship all in the same year.
