"Horsepower. It’s how our reputation was built." In 1987, AEM opened its doors and quickly earned a reputation for its custom fabrication work and ability to develop some of the fastest vehicles at racetracks across the country. As the import performance market began to grow AEM’s success in both of these areas backed by their work in research and development for Redline/Weber ultimately led to their production of products for the performance sport compact car market long before the market’s popularity level rose to where it is at today. Today, AEM is dedicated to the research and development, design and manufacturing of the highest-quality performance products for the sport compact car, large car, truck and SUV market. AEM expanded in 2003 and moved its manufacturing, racing program and dyno facility to a new location to make room for additional warehousing and shipping in its main headquarters. This new addition enabled AEM to intensify its manufacturing capabilities, and has increased the company’s facilities to approximately 90,000 square feet. Their purchase of DC Sports in January of 2004 offered AEM the opportunity to provide a complete airflow package to the consumer, tuned and tested in AEM-style and now available at Tire Rack. Developmental Quality Control Once AEM designs a prototype, several tools are used to ensure that the same design that fit perfectly during development makes it into the final product as well. One of these tools creates a blueprint of the prototype that allows AEM to electronically transfer the exact product dimensions to their computerized CNC mandrel bender (in the case of air intake systems). In addition to speeding up the production process, this tool helps to ensure a perfect fit every time, on every car. Dyno Testing All of AEM’s products are CAD designed and undergo extensive testing for performance and reliability. AEM has established and published consistent dyno testing procedures to its products. Testing is done the same way every time. Their Mustang dynamometer uses a real-time data acquisition program for ambient temperature, barometric pressure and relative humidity, eliminating the chance of wrong correction factors being applied to dyno results. The dyno room is climate controlled for consistency and for both "hot" and "cold" testing. And true to its tuner shop roots, AEM still maintains a visible presence at racetracks across the country through AEM Racing Inc. and through engineering and sponsorship commitments with some of the country’s best racing teams. This combination of dyno testing and real world testing thoroughly proves the performance levels of their products. All AEM products, too, are consistently put to the test by various automotive publications including Motor Trend, Car & Driver, Turbo, Sport Compact Car, Super Street, Honda Tuning, Euro Tuner, 5.0 Mustangs, Truckin’, 4Wheel Drive & Sport Utility, and Sport Truck magazines. In the end, the results of these independent tests match AEM’s testing to validate that AEM’s products consistently outperform the competition’s. |
