I bought the Fiat 124 Spider last fall and only drive it in nice weather/summer rain. These shocks were on the car when I got it and after a summer of driving I am pleased with them. I live in rule Ohio and drive on hilly, twisty back roads and state routes. I have read that the yellow adjustable Konis, set on soft, are a good set up for handling, and if I ever want to make a canyon carver out of the Fiat I may go for those. However for the price difference these are good for touring. -- Review submitted: 2013-09-17

Getting a 2nd generation (2002-10) Ford Explorer/Mercury Mountaineer to handle decently has been a challenge, and after 3 stabs at dampers, and 2 tries with springs, I finally got it. The KYB GR2 dampers really helped settle the SUV down - the stock units, and Monroe and NAPA varieties were tried, none lasted more than 10K miles, and none could cure the rolling water-bed feel of the vehicle. Adding the Eibach front and rear anti-roll bars really helped, but also really showed how awful the earlier shocks were. I m using (now discontinued) Eibach rear lowering springs, and stock (Ford) front springs with 1 3/4 coils cut off each, which has lowered the vehicle approximately 2" all around. The stance is perfect and the ground clearance still reasonable. (the Eibach front springs lowered far too much (nearly 4") and were way too soft). The big tank is now fairly entertaining to drive, the soft front seats are now the cornering limiting device. -- Review submitted: 2013-08-20

Excellent OEM replacements for our 2002 WRX; very well priced and just a tad firmer than new stock shocks. Substantially improved ride, handling, and general stability compared to our worn-out ones. While the overall ride over bumps is quite good, there is a small bit of bounce, though I don t find it to be an issue. If your shocks are starting to degrade and you re on a budget, go for these! -- Review submitted: 2013-07-07

Just put these Excel-Gs on my girlfriends Focus. The Stock struts were terrible, leaking, getting noisy, and just plain shot. I remember thinking a while back that this car needed stiffer shocks in the future, because it had a lot of body roll for a small car. I m pretty satisfied with them on first impressions. They re noticeably, slightly stiffer. Im happy there is less body roll. They re not ultra plush, and didn t necessarily make the car feel like it s brand new. BUT I don t expect just replacing struts on a car with nearly 100k on it to ever feel like new again. It feels much firmer, much more stout, much more comfortable with these KYBs. For the (very modest) price, I m very happy. -- Review submitted: 2013-04-03

I didn t want to "Skateboard" my WRX, I m too old for that. Since one of my original OEM springs were rusted, I had to find something cheaper than the OEM Subaru parts. When I looked at this kit I was worried about lowering the car too much. Well, after the install, It lowered the rear about 1.5 inches and the front about 1 inch. I noticed the lowered feel the first time I drive it, but really it s not that big of deal. I actually LIKE the new look. The biggest surprise was how stiff the car became when going over bumps. Wow, it s differently a rougher ride, but tolerable. I use the car for city driving, rarely more than 30 miles at a time. If this was a long distance car, I probably would want something less harsh (more stock feel). With that being said, the cornering is improved (especially with install new struts). Looking back on when I bought the car new and remembering how the suspension was from the factory, this is better, but at a cost of ride comfort. So, my final verdict, Yes, it was worth the money and I m happy with my purchase. Just keep my observations in mind if your looking for a replacement set of springs . -- Review submitted: 2013-04-02

I have a separate race Subaru if I want to go canyon carving. I want to firm up the Outback so it didn t sway as much in transitions from corner to corner and just stiffen the shocks a little. The KYB Excel Gs filled the bill. -- Review submitted: 2012-08-01

The rear dampers were replaced when one of the original set blew out violently (all over the ground). The front were fine, so I opted to just replace the rears. Worked to alleviate the leak. Didn t really improve the ride much. I was hoping the ride would be more taught. May have been because the front were still worn. Knowing that now, I would have done all four at once. Just did the front with another set of the GR-2 s. If the ride isn t better over lumpy back roads, I ll know to upgrade to a firmer set next time. -- Review submitted: 2012-06-23

I put the KYBs on with some moderate lowering springs (Vogtland)and things were great for a few months. Then the shocks gave out. I don t think these are good for lowering, they are just not heavy duty enough. Ride now is bouncy and difficult to control. These may well be a good OE replacement, but would not use again for lowering. You live & you learn...just wish it were cheaper to do so. -- Review submitted: 2012-06-07

Installed two front KYB GR-2 struts(OEM). Fit was factory spot on. Took me 45 minutes per side with no problems. The old Honda factory ones were shot. The ride and handling was an improvement. Will do the rear ones in six months. Remember to have the alignment done. These struts are better thenthe OEM IMO. Will order again from Tire rack for sure.. -- Review submitted: 2012-03-18

I bought the car and there was an easy six inches between the tire and fender. After installing the springs and struts there is just enough room for my fingers to fit between them. Large bumps hit fairly hard, but not terrible. Under normal driving conditions I can t even tell the difference, but as soon as I dive into a turn and roll on the throttle through the exit I know instantly it was money well spent. -- Review submitted: 2012-03-15
