Having these Konis on now for more than one year I can tell you they were the BEST buy for this Jeep since it was new. The only mistake I made was not doing it sooner. Cornering is flat, controlled, and predictable. Great buy! -- Review submitted: 2007-12-17

Koni Specials in back of wagon are VERY stiff, even at softest setting. I even took them off to double check. I have Koni sports in front and am very pleased with the improvement. My only problem is that I can t adjust the specials without removing them, and again, they re very stiff until I load up the wagon, then the ride is smoother. -- Review submitted: 2007-11-07

After installing, I noticed the ride was much softer than it was with the worn factory struts. They were turned up about 1/4 turn from full soft, and the rebound was ok. The compression however was far too soft. I replaced them with KYB AGX and at setting 1 (softest setting) they are much better in every performance measure while only being a little more harsh on rough roads than the factory struts. -- Review submitted: 2006-10-12

The Koni Specials are much better than the worn-out factory shocks! I now have a firmer ride and less bounce, which results in better handling. The Durango is still not a sports car, but I m satisfied with the improvement. -- Review submitted: 2005-10-21

My expectations were my own fault. For what it is, I am more than pleased, I just wish I had gotten more of a race setup. It still is a bit soft for me in acceleration and brake squat, but as far as cornering, I still havn t put on my sway bars, so that s my problem . I think the kit is slick, I d do it again for a civilized ride, maybe for my wife. Next time, you can sell me a race setup. The 350Z is only a couple months away. -- Review submitted: 2005-04-13

These shocks are great. However, starting out at a setting higher than zero can be a bit jolting over those city potholes & highway cracks. You buy the shocks and you think you need to crank them all the way to the highest setting because you are the cornering master of the universe. Then you realize you are still driving a 2wd S-10 pick-up. Take it from me, 0 or 1 are good enough. Having to readjust after the initial install is a pain. I ll probably crank it down to setting 3 after another 40k miles. Hmmm, maybe reading the directions first isn t such a bad idea. -- Review submitted: 2005-04-06

The Koni Specials worker out great with the Neuspeed Sports. I was concerned that you could only adjust them off of the car. I called Koni tech support and they gave me a great baseline adjustment prior to installation. Car feels more stable and properly damped now. Unless you need adjustment at the track or something these are more than ample shocks for the street. -- Review submitted: 2004-11-27

Great shock, adjustable, handled tighter than the Edelbrock AIS, Bilstien, and KYB. The adjustibility front and rear is what I needed, and it served it s purpose to make the nose heavy beast not feel so nose heavy. But. There s always a but . The shocks can not be adjusted without removing them from the vehicle, as some other brands could be. Also, one of the rear shocks adjustment appears to be broken, the indexing stops which allow you to pick the 0-1-2-3 setting has failed, and it now spins freely with no index so it s nearly impossible to tell what setting you have it on. It does stop at the lowest setting, but doesn t stop at the highest setting, and just keeps spinning around. I haven t gotten around to having it replaced yet, so I don t know about how well Koni and Tire Rack will stand behind the shock, you ll definitely hear from me if they don t. -- Review submitted: 2004-11-05

Koni "special" shocks installed front and rear with the adjustment set to one turn from full soft. They work well for me for this commuter car in this application. The instructions that came with the shocks represent an attempt to explain how to install using pictures without words - I guess to be usable regardless of language - I had to go to Koni s web site for real installation instructions. I had to guess about how far to adust the shocks, I would have appreciated a recommendation from Koni as to what level to adjust the shocks to - I guessed well but would have appreciated guidance. -- Review submitted: 2004-05-24

This is a follow-up to my original review. I loved the way the car handled originally after installing the Koni s, but came to realize they were set too firmly (between 1/3 and 1/2 a turn from full-soft. This was reinforced when the rubber shock mount bushings at the top of the shocks started tearing. I had purchased KYB boots and bushings. The bushings were much softer than the original Honda bushings. I decided to replace the bushings with OEM Honda parts (and replaced the tearing KYB boots with the original Honda parts also. While I was at it, I re-set the Koni s to full soft (which I had read in the meantime was the recommended setting). Wow, what a difference. Quiet, smooth, and still very nice cornering capability. This car drives better than when it was new! -- Review submitted: 2004-04-05

Quit wasting your money on other shocks.
My driving is 42 miles of mountain roads to work through heat, rain, snow, earthquakes, fog, and fire daily.
I like to think of myself as Jimmy Clark reincarnated, but I have not had a speeding ticket for 35 years.
I have been using Koni s for over 20 years on everythng from my 4x4 pickups/ 4runner to the MR2. I replace all shocks asap after I acquire a new vehicle. I have over 400,000 miles on all of my Koni s with no failures and have not had to adjust them up from the lowest setting. I have a Z3 coupe that will soon get them. It is the only car I have owned that had even marginally acceptable shocks.
Dont be a sissy and complain to me about stiff ride. You need to keep in contact with the road. -- Review submitted: 2004-03-14

It is a bit hard to isolate the overall improvement in ride/handling to the new Koni''s, because the old shocks were shot, the front springs were actually broken (replaced with OEM Honda springs), the alignment was out due to worn components which were replaced, and the unevenly worn tires were replaced. However, the car handles better than when it was new (and this is a very good hanlding car to start with). I set the Koni''s to about mid-range and the ride is slightly on the firm side. Cornering is very nice, with virtually no roll. Overall, this was a great investment (I did the work myself and saved $600 from what the dealer wanted to put OEM shocks on) and it is nice to have a car with nearly 150,000 miles that makes me smile going around corners. -- Review submitted: 2003-05-16

Performance wise, the car handles 100% better. The ride quality has suffered a great deal with a little too much on the firm side, even with the Koni yellows adjusted all the way soft. Of course, there is no more body roll. The rear springs have sagged very slightly, maybe a quarter inch. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the setup over stock, but now I want to try a coilover setup to get more ride quality back without giving up handling. -- Review submitted: 2003-02-21

Let''s face it, this car doesn''t handle like a new car, but it does pretty good for an old beast. The main reason for putting in Koni shocks was to get a comfortable but well-controlled ride. I am completely happy with these shocks. -- Review submitted: 2002-12-03

Set the shocks to 20% stiff, and that is a wonderful combination with my 20 inch rims and the Goodyear Eagle LS tires. Truck rides smoother than factory but much more sporty as well. Corners are rock solid, body roll has been drastically reduced, an overall the truck feels very firmly planted on the ground rather than the springy/floaty feel of the factory shocks. Highly recommend this upgrade. -- Review submitted: 2002-09-26

The combination of H&R Sport Springs and Koni Shocks works really together. I love the firmness and the ride is still comfortable. The suspension has never bottomed out yet (I''m careful to make sure it doesn''t though). During agressive driving the suspension is very tight and inspires confidence. Quick transitions are easily handled by the suspension and it feels like the traction will never give out. Body roll and brake dive is minimal. The alignment is ok without getting an alignment kit. Just a normal alignment job is needed on this car. Overall I would say this suspension setup (and 17 inch wheels with 215/45ZR tires) has transformed my car from a average car to a respectable handling car able to chase many sports cars through the corners. Thanks Tire Rack for the great service, products, and prices. -- Review submitted: 2002-08-30

Overall the car feels great. Finally I have struts that can handel stiffer lowering springs. No bounce and no fear of large bumps. The car has a snappier feel to it now, very nice. Howewer compaired to other car''s that I''ve driven with factory suspension''s that are tuned to PERFORM, the ride quality on these koni''s pales in comparison. It is possible however that I adjusted the rebound to firmly and need to turn it back a setting. However on my koni''s, I have to remove them from the car to do that, yuck. -- Review submitted: 2002-01-13
