The Ecopia EP422 is one of Bridgestone's ecologically oriented Grand Touring All-Season tires developed for the drivers of coupes, sedans, minivans and small crossover vehicles looking to combine year-round traction, handling and comfort with reduced environmental impact. Ecopia EP422 tires are designed to enhance vehicle fuel economy by reducing tire rolling resistance along with the vehicle's carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions while delivering year-round, all-season traction, even in light snow.
The Ecopia EP422 uses an all-season tread compound featuring Bridgestone's unique NanoPro-Tech (Nanostructure-Oriented Properties Control Technology) to reduce rolling resistance and energy loss while maintaining dry, wet and wintertime traction.
This compound is molded into a symmetric tread design that combines notched shoulders and intermediate ribs with independent center blocks for dry road tracking and traction. Four circumferential grooves are designed to help water flow from under the footprint to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction while notches and sipes increase the edges that bite into light snow. The tire sidewalls feature Bridgestone's Fuel Saver compound to further increase efficiency.
The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon on top of a polyester casing to blend ride comfort and durability.

El neumático Ecopia EP422 es uno de los neumáticos de orientación ecológica de Bridgestone y pertenece a la categoría: Gran Turismo Para Toda Estación. Fue desarrollado inicialmente en tamaños para conductores que buscaban combinar tracción durante las cuatro estaciones del año, maniobrabilidad y confort, con poco impacto sobre el medio ambiente. El Ecopia EP422 ha sido diseñado para mejorar el consumo de gasolina del vehículo, al reducir la resistencia al rodar, al igual disminuye la emisión de dióxido de carbono (CO2) durante su uso, todo esto, manteniendo la tracción durante todas las estaciones del año, incluyendo superficies con poca nieve.
El Ecopia EP422 utiliza un compuesto de caucho para toda estación que cuenta con la tecnología NanoPro-Tech (Tecnología Nanostructure-Oriented Proporties Control) de Bridgestone, para reducir la resistencia al rodar y perdida de energía, al mismo tiempo de mantener la tracción sobre superficies secas, mojadas o durante el invierno.
Este compuesto de caucho es moldeado en una banda de rodamiento simétrica que combina hombros cóncavos y segmentos intermedios con tacos o bloques centrales e independientes, para continuar en línea recta y tener tracción sobre carreteras secas. Cuatro canales circunferenciales han sido diseñados para sacar el agua al hacer contacto con la carretera, lo cual ayuda a resistir el deslizamiento sobre agua (hydroplaning) y mejorar la tracción sobre superficies mojadas. Muescas y pequeñas ranuras (sipes) sobre los bloques o tacos, aumentan los bordes adherentes para un mejor agarre sobre superficies con poca nieve. Los flancos o paredes posee el compuesto de caucho Fuel Saber que ayuda a mejorar la eficiencia del consumo de gasolina aún más.
La estructura interna incluye correas gemelas de acero reforzadas con nailon envuelto en espiral, por encima de un armazón de poliéster, y así, combinar un andar confortable con durabilidad.
