Bridgestone's Potenza S-02 Pole Position and Potenza S-03 Pole Position Max Performance Summer tires earned their front row starting positions when they were introduced thanks to the combination of wet and dry performance they provided. Bridgestone's Potenza RE050A Pole Position with UNI-T Technology Max Performance Summer tire was developed to continue that heritage for sports car, sports coupe and sport sedan drivers. The Potenza RE050A Pole Position is designed to provide exceptional dry and wet road traction along with more responsive handling than the Potenza RE050A. Like all summer tires, it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
The Potenza RE050A Pole Position features a higher 90% silica content tread compound molded into an asymmetric tread design with stable shoulder elements, large tread blocks and a continuous center rib on the outboard side to provide responsive handling, high-speed stability and traction on dry roads, while wide circumferential and lateral tread grooves pump water out from under the tire’s footprint to minimize hydroplaning and aid wet traction. Another continuous circumferential rib adjacent to the inside shoulder blocks enhances wear quality to help reduce noise throughout the life of the tire, especially on cars with alignment settings that specify negative camber. The tire's structure includes twin, handling-optimized steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to stabilize the tread area and enhance traction, high-speed capability and ride quality while minimizing weight. The fabric cord body and higher sidewall reinforcement helps blend uniform ride quality with steering response and lateral stability.
