The Potenza RE070 is Bridgestone's Extreme Performance Summer tire developed for Original Equipment use in sizes for the 2012 Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition, 2004-2007 all-wheel drive Subaru Impreza WRX STI performance sedans, as well as 2008-2009 Honda S2000 CR (Club Racer) sports cars. While designed to combine predictable handling on the street with extreme dry traction on the track, the Potenza RE070, like all summer tires, is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
The Potenza RE070 features a high-grip tread compound molded into an asymmetric tread design to combine handling with traction. Semi-Slick outboard shoulder blocks and several continuous inboard ribs enhance initial responsiveness and increase lateral stiffness to reduce the irregular wear that can occur during hard cornering. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to blend high-speed durability with uniform ride quality.

A pesar que ha sido diseñado para combinar una maniobrabilidad predecible en la carretera con tracción extrema en la pista, el Potenza RE070, como todo neumático de verano no fue diseñado para su uso, en temperaturas cercanas al nivel de congelación o superficies con hielo o nieve.
Para combinar maniobrabilidad con tracción el Potenza RE070 posee una banda de rodamiento con diseño asimétrico y un compuesto de caucho de agarre fuerte. Bloques o tacos semilisos en los hombros y varios segmentos continuos internos, mejoran la respuesta inicial y aumentan la rigidez lateral, para así reducir el desgaste irregular, que ocurre al tomar curvas a velocidades altas.
La estructura interna del neumático incluye correas gemelas de acero, reforzadas con nailon envuelto en espiral, para mejorar la durabilidad y ofrecer un andar más uniforme y de mejor calidad.
