The Potenza RE070R R2 RFT is Bridgestone's Extreme Performance Summer run-flat tire developed exclusively for the all-wheel drive Nissan GT-R super sports car. In addition to combining athletic capabilities on the street with extreme dry performance on the race track, the Potenza RE070R R2 RFT also provides temporary extended mobility for a distance of 50 miles at up to 50 mph even after a puncture has allowed complete air pressure loss. Like all summer tires, the Potenza RE070R R2 RFT is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
The Potenza RE070R R2 RFT uses a revised asymmetric tread design that features wider, lower void outboard shoulders derived from the tires delivered as Original Equipment on the Nissan GT-R SpecV in Japan. Semi-Slick outboard shoulder blocks and several continuous inboard ribs enhance initial responsiveness and increase lateral stiffness to reduce the irregular wear that can occur during hard cornering.
The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to blend high-speed durability with uniform ride quality. The structure of the Potenza RE070R R2 RFT has been specifically tuned for the Nissan GT-R and features Bridgestone Side Support Run-Flat technology reinforced sidewalls to support the vehicle after a puncture causes a loss of air pressure.
NOTE: The tread design change prohibits mixing the new tire with earlier non-R2 tires.
While introduced as an Original Equipment tire on the 2011 model year Nissan GT-R, installing Potenza RE070R R2 RFT tires in sets of four is permitted on earlier Nissan GT-R cars.

Además de combinar capacidad deportiva en las carreteras con un rendimiento extremo sobre superficies secas en la pista, el Potenza RE070R R2 RFT también proporciona movilidad temporal extendida. Puede recorrer 50 millas (80 km) a una velocidad de hasta 50 mph (80 km/h) sin aire, luego de un pinchazo. Como todo neumático de verano, el Potenza RE070R R2 RFT, no fue diseñado para ser utilizado en temperaturas cercanas al nivel de congelación o superficies con hielo o nieve.
El Potenza RE070R R2 RFT posee una banda de rodamiento con un diseño asimétrico mejorado, que cuenta con hombros anchos, que permiten mayor contacto con la carretera. Este diseño se deriva de los neumáticos originales (O.E., por sus siglas en inglés) del Nissas GT-R SepecV en Japón. La parte exterior de los hombros casi plana y varios segmentos internos continuos aumentan la respuesta inicial y mejoran la rigidez lateral para reducir el desgaste irregular que puede ocurrir al tomar curvas.
La estructura interna del neumático incluye correas gemelas de acero reforzadas con nailon envuelto en espiral para combinar durabilidad y un andar uniforme. La estructura del Potenza RE070R R2 RFT ha sido ajustada específicamente para el Nissan GT-R y contiene la tecnología Side Support Run-Flat de Bridgestone, la cual refuerza los flancos o paredes par que el vehículo pueda soportar el peso del vehículo luego de un pinchazo.
NOTA: El cambio del diseño de la banda de rodamiento no permite mezclar este neumático con la versión anterior de los que no son R2.
