Bridgestone S-02 and Potenza S-02 tires are Max Performance Summer tires developed for high performance sports cars, coupes and sedans. Developed for Original Equipment use on selected Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Honda, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche vehicles, they were designed to combine responsive and predictable handling with exceptional levels of traction. Bridgestone S-02 and Potenza S-02 tires are tuned for dry and wet conditions, but like all summer tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
Bridgestone S-02 and Potenza S-02 tires feature Bridgestone's UNI-T (Ultimate Network of Intelligent Tire Technology) that uses design, construction and tread compound features to enhance tire performance.
Bridgestone S-02 and Potenza S-02 tires feature a directional tread design with high-angle, lateral tread grooves aligned to effectively pump water from under the tire's footprint to the sides to minimize hydroplaning. The resulting long tread blocks and continuous center rib molded of a high-grip tread compound provide responsive handling, high-speed stability and traction. Their internal structures include twin steel belts reinforced by a spirally wrapped cap ply combined with spirally wrapped belt edge strips to minimize weight while stabilizing the tread area to enhancing handling and high-speed capability. The polyester or rayon cord body incorporates a wire reinforced hard rubber sidewall filler to help blend ride quality with handling stability.

Usado como equipo original (O.E. por sus siglas en inglés) en modelos selectos Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Honda, Mercedes-Benz y Porsche, el diseño de estos neumáticos combina maniobrabilidad y respuesta predecible, con niveles de tracción extraordinarios. El S-02 y el Potenza S-02 están afinados para su uso sobre superficies secas y mojadas, pero como todo neumático de verano no fue diseñado para ser utilizado en temperaturas cercanas al nivel de congelación o superficies con hielo o nieve.
También poseen la tecnología UNI-T de Bridgestone que utiliza un diseño, características de construcción y un compuesto de caucho, para aumentar el rendimiento del neumático.
El S-02 y el Potenza S-02 poseen una banda de rodamiento con diseño direccional que cuenta con ranuras laterales con “ángulos altos” alineados efectivamente para extraer el agua de la huella del neumático rápidamente y minimizar el deslizamiento en agua (hydroplaning). Los bloques largos y un segmento continuo en el centro proveen maniobrabilidad responsiva, estabilidad y tracción a velocidades elevadas.
Internamente, correas gemelas de acero son reforzadas por una capa envuelta en espiral combinada con correas de soporte en los hombros, para minimizar el peso y estabilizar el área interior de la banda de rodamiento, al vez de aumentar el control y la capacidad del neumático a velocidades elevadas.
