The Turanza EL42 RFT is a Standard Touring All-Season run-flat tire designed for Original Equipment use exclusively on BMW 1, 3 and 7 Series cars, as well as Infiniti Q45 sedans and Lexus GS and SC sedans and convertibles. The Turanza EL42 RFT is designed to provide temporary extended mobility for a distance of 50 miles at up to 50 mph even after a puncture has allowed complete air pressure loss. The Turanza EL42 RFT was developed to combine the assurance of driving on a run-flat tire with the year-round versatility of an all-season tire that provides traction in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even in light snow.
The Turanza EL42 RFT molds an all-season tread compound into a symmetric tread design featuring siped, rectangular tread blocks that combine snow biting edges with dry road stability. Lateral and circumferential tread grooves evacuate water out from under the tire's footprint to reduce hydroplaning and enhance wet traction. The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to stabilize the tread area and enhance treadwear, handling and high-speed capability.
The structure of the Turanza EL42 RFT also features Bridgestone Side Support Run-Flat technology reinforced sidewalls to support the vehicle after a puncture causes a loss of air pressure.

El Turanza EL42 RFT combina la seguridad de poder andar sin aire y la versatilidad de uso en todas las estaciones del año en condiciones secas, mojadas e invernales, inclusive con poca nieve.
El compuesto de caucho para toda estación del Turanza EL42 RFT, es moldeado en una banda de rodamiento con un diseño simétrico con bloques o tacos rectangulares con pequeñas ranuras en la superficie, para combinar estabilidad sobre superficies secas y agarre sobre poca nieve. Canales circunferenciales y ranuras laterales evacuan el agua reduciendo el deslizamiento (hydroplaning) y manteniendo la tracción sobre superficies mojadas.
La estructura interna del neumático posee correas gemelas de acero reforzadas por una capa de nailon envuelto en espiral, esto con el propósito de estabilizar la banda de rodamiento, para mejorar el desgaste, maniobrabilidad y capacidad a velocidades elevadas. La estructura del Turanza EL42 RFT también utiliza la tecnología Side Support Run-Flat de Bridgestone, para reforzar las paredes o flancos y permitir soportar el peso del vehículo luego de una pérdida parcial o total de presión de aire.
