The SP Sport Maxx is Dunlop's Max Performance Summer tire developed for high-powered sports cars, sporty coupes and luxury performance sedans. Designed to be exhilarating in dry and reassuring in the wet, SP Sport Maxx tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
SP Sport Maxx tires feature Dunlop's optimized blend of silica and high-structured carbon black tread compound molded into a directional tread design that features large, independent shoulder blocks, Hydro-Paddle intermediate ribs and a stable continuous center rib. These features work together to keep more of the tire on more of the road more of the time, improving water drainage and maintaining constant road contact to impart more responsive handling, wet driving control and high-speed stability.
The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by Dunlop’s Jointless Band (JLB) spirally wrapped nylon to provide high-speed durability while minimizing weight. The tires feature a multi-radius profile with a rayon cord casing for high-speed capability and ride quality.

Car and Driver tested 11 of the big names in street tires using Tire Rack's on-site test track and BMW 325i test vehicles. Over three days, wet and dry tests were performed to determine the best overall performance tire.
Goodyear's Eagle F1 GS-D3 "takes performance to new heights" and gets the top ratings while Continental's ContiSportContact 2 and Yokohama's ADVAN Neova AD07 take second and third place, respectively.
