The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT w/UNI-T is Firestone's Ultra High Performance Summer run-flat tire developed exclusively for the drivers of Chevrolet C6 Corvettes. The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT is designed to provide temporary mobility in the event of complete air loss due to a puncture, along with responsive handling and traction in dry and wet conditions. The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
The Firestone technologies used for Wide Oval RFT w/UNI-T (Ultimate Network of Intelligent Tire Technology) features three core elements: CO•CS, a Computer Optimized Component System which allows design and manufacturing processes to work more cooperatively leading to a more efficient tire that doesn't significantly sacrifice one area of performance for improvements in another; O-Bead, a more round structure that minimizes overlapped joints in the bead area for improved ride; and L.L. Carbon (Long Link Carbon) which helps the rubber compound resist microscopic tread tearing related to wear.
On the outside, the Firehawk Wide Oval RFT features high performance silica-enhanced L.L. Carbon tread rubber compound molded into an independent-block, directional tread design to blend responsive handling along with wet and dry traction, while circumferential and lateral grooves team up to provide hydroplaning resistance. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon ply to provide strength, stability and high-speed capability, as well as run-flat sidewall reinforcements that allow temporary mobility (up to 50 miles at 50 mph) in the event of air loss or a flat tire.

La estructura interna cuenta con correas gemelas de acero reforzadas con una capa de nailon envuelto en espiral, para proveer fortaleza, estabilidad y mayor capacidad al conducir a velocidades elevadas. Además, los flancos están reforzados para poder ofrecer movilidad temporal en caso de perdida de aire o un neumático completamente desinflado (hasta 50 millas (80km), a una velocidad de 50 mph (80 km/h).
