The AltiMAX HP is General's Grand Touring All-Season tire member of their AltiMAX family of flagship tires. The AltiMAX HP was developed to be a smarter tire for smarter drivers by addressing many of the treadwear quality and year-round traction challenges faced by the drivers of today's sporty sedans and coupes. The AltiMAX HP is designed to combine reliability, comfort and tread life, as well as provide year-round traction, including in light snow.
The AltiMAX HP features a Twin Cushion Tread (TCT) compound that places a high-density silica-enhanced, all-season top compound above a low-density foundation compound to combine year-round traction, long wear and a comfortable ride. A directional tread design features sweeping, high-angle tread grooves sized using sound wave suppression technology to combine hydroplaning resistance with reduced pattern noise. Visual Alignment Indicators (VAI) molded into the shoulder blocks permit pinpointing tire wear irregularities early in the tire's life so vehicle adjustments/mechanical corrections can be made to take full advantage of wear potential. Also featured on the AltiMAX HP tire is General Tire's Replacement Tire Monitor (RTM) branding. Similar in purpose to federally mandated treadwear bars required to run across the tread pattern, RTM consists of the words "Replacement Tire Monitor" branded into the center rib of new tires. As the tires wear down to 2/32" of remaining tread depth (the legal minimum in most states), the visible branding reads "Replace Tire" to confirm the tires need to be replaced based on wear.
The tire's internal structure includes two steel belts reinforced by spirally wound nylon to stabilize the tread area for good handling, while a polyester cord body enhances ride quality.

Además, el neumático AltiMAX HP, utiliza un sistema para indicar la necesidad de reemplazar el neumático una vez alcance la profundidad de 2/32” (dos partes de 32 de una pulgada, es el mínimo legal en la mayoría de estados). Este sistema de verificación de General, es conocido como Replacement Tire Monitor (RTM, por sus siglas en inglés) y permite leer “Replace Tire” (Reemplazar Neumático) cuando el desgaste alcanza la profundidad de 2/32”.
La estructura interna cuenta con dos correas de acero reforzadas con nailon envuelto en espiral, para estabilizar la banda de rodamiento para mejor maniobrabilidad. Una capa de cordón de poliéster mejora la calidad de conducción.
