The Ecsta SPT XRP (KU31) is Kumho's Ultra High Performance Summer self-supporting run-flat tire developed for sports cars, coupes and sedans to provide temporary continuing mobility (up to 50 miles at up to 50 mph) in the event a puncture allows complete air pressure loss. While Ecsta SPT XRP (Extended Runflat Performance) tires are designed to combine performance, comfort and good looks with the convenience run-flat mobility provides, they are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
Ecsta SPT XRP tires feature Kumho's High Dispersion Silica tread compound (that broadens the tread rubber's temperature operating range) molded into a directional tread design that features large, independent shoulder blocks, four straight, circumferential grooves and three solid center ribs to combine wet grip, responsive handling and high-speed stability. Rotation Wear Indicators (R.W.I.) are built into the Ecsta SPT XRP to let drivers know the time has come to rotate tires to maintain more even wear and lower noise levels as the tire approaches the later stages of its treadlife. The Ecsta SPT XRP tire's structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by a spiral-wrapped, jointless, nylon cap ply to enhance ride quality while providing high-speed durability. Rubber run-flat inserts are molded on the inside of both of the tire's sidewalls to provide temporary continuing mobility in the event of a puncture causing complete loss of air pressure.
El neumático ECSTA SPT XRP (KU31) de KUMHO pertenece al segmento de Ultra Alto Rendimiento Para Verano y es un neumático “rueda flat”, desarrollado para autos deportivos, cupé y sedán y proporcionarles movilidad continua temporalmente (hasta 50 millas a 50 mph), en caso de perdida de aire. El ECSTA SPT XRP (Extended Runflat Performance) esta diseñado para combinar rendimiento, confort y buena apariencia, con la conveniencia de poder andar sin la necesidad de aire. El ECSTA SPT XRP, no ha sido fabricado con la intención de andar en temperaturas cercas del nivel de congelación, hielo o nieve.
La construcción externa del ECSTA SPT XRP, cuenta con una mezcla de caucho que utiliza “sílice de alta dispersión” de KUMHO (el cual amplia el rango de temperatura, en el que el caucho puede operar) moldeado en un diseño direccional de la banda de rodamiento. Esta banda ofrece bloques largos e independientes en los hombros, cuatro ranuras circunferenciales rectas y tres segmentos centrales sólidos, para combinar tracción sobre superficies mojadas, capacidad de respuesta precisa y estabilidad al conducir a velocidades elevadas. Los “Indicadores de desgaste para rotar” (Rotation Wear Indicators RWI, por sus siglas en inglés) informan cuando deben ser rotados para mantener más parejo y reducir los niveles de ruidos, al acercarse a la última etapa de su ciclo de vida.
La construcción interna, cuenta con correas gemelas de acero reforzadas con capas de nailon sin juntas envueltas en espiral, esto aumenta la calidad del manejo, al mismo tiempo que provee mayor durabilidad al ser usados a velocidades elevadas. Refuerzos de caucho “rueda-flat” son moldeados en la parte interna de ambos lados de los flancos, para proveer movilidad continua en caso de un pinchazo o perdida de aire.
