The Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico Run Flat is Pirelli's Street/Sport Truck All-Season run-flat tire developed for the North American market to be used on powerful crossover and sport utility vehicles possessing very sporting dispositions. Featuring Pirelli’s Self-Supporting Run Flat Technology that enhances safety and convenience by providing temporary extended mobility in the event a puncture allows complete loss of air pressure, Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico Run Flat tires can literally "run flat" for up to 50 miles at 50 mph (80 km at 80 km/h) unless otherwise specified by the vehicle manufacturer for Original Equipment tires. Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico Run Flat tires are designed for drivers looking for style, handling and traction for America's dry, wet and wintry conditions, even including occasional light snow.
The Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico Run Flat radial's high performance all-season tread compound provides progressive grip when cornering. This compound is molded into an asymmetric tread design that features a notched outboard shoulder rib to enhance steering response, cornering stability and high-speed precision. Special Z-profile intermediate tread blocks flank a continuous center rib to blend foul-weather traction with acoustic comfort while wide circumferential grooves evacuate water to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction.
The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to enhance handling and high-speed durability. Pirelli's extended mobility solution is made possible by their MIRS computer-controlled robotized manufacturing system, a production process that assures consistency in the application of the additional sidewall reinforcements that provide the self-supporting run-flat capability.
