The ADVAN A048 is Yokohama's Track & Competition D.O.T. racing tire developed for drivers who participate in autocross competition, high-performance driving schools, lapping days and circuit-type club racing, as well as are Original Equipment on the Lotus Elise Sport. The ADVAN A048 is designed to take Yokohama's advanced racing technology to a new level in D.O.T.-approved tire performance by delivering precise control, sure-footed braking and predictable grip. ADVAN A048 tires are not intended to be driven on extremely wet roads with standing water where there is the risk of hydroplaning, in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
The ADVAN A048 molds race-ready tread compound(s) (offering Medium or Medium-Hard choices in many sizes) that can be used to match the tire's capabilities to vehicle weight and performance, as well as track conditions and ambient temperatures. It features a "single block" tread design that increases tread stiffness and features a wide center area that stays in continuous contact with the track to enhance cornering stability, on-center feel and steering response. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon cap plies and belt edge strips. The belt package is placed on top of a rounded casing design that allows the tire to predictably handle transitions from straight-line travel to high g-force cornering and back.

ADVAN A048 tires are molded with 6/32" of tread depth in their grooves and are left unshaved for use on damp tracks. Tire Rack suggests shaving ADVAN A048 tires to approximately 4/32" of tread depth to begin competitive road racing/track use in dry conditions. The ADVAN A048's directional tread design and symmetric internal construction allows remounting partially worn tires inside-out on their wheels to help prolong their life.
Caution: ADVAN A048 tires are not recommended for high-speed driving on extremely wet roads/tracks with standing water where there is the risk of hydroplaning. This is especially true of shaved or worn tires. Drivers should drive cautiously at reduced speeds in these conditions.
El neumático ADVAN A048 de Yokohama pertenece al segmento Pista y Competencia D.O.T. Legal y fue desarrollado para pilotos que participan en competencias de autocross, escuelas de manejo de alto rendimiento, circuitos y carreras de clubes de carrera, además de ser equipo original (O.E., por sus siglas en inglés) del Lotus Elise Sport. El ADVAN A048 utiliza la tecnología avanzada de carreras de Yokohama, para colocarlo en otro nivel en el grupo de neumáticos D.O.T. de gran rendimiento, al proporcionar un control más preciso, frenado más seguro y tracción predecible. Tire Rack afeitar los neumáticos ADVAN A048 a una profundidad de 4/32 partes de una pulgada aproximadamente para competencias sobre superficies secas. La banda de rodamiento direccional y la construcción interna simétrica permite montar neumáticos parcialmente gastados invertidos en los rines (la parte interna afuera y viceversa), para prolongar la vida útil del neumático.
Precaución: Los neumáticos ADVAN A048 no se recomiendan para manejar a velocidades elevadas en pistas o carreteras con agua empozada donde existe el riesgo de resbalar (hydroplaning). Esto toma más importancia con neumáticos gastados o afeitados. Se debe conducir a velocidades reducidas y con mucho cuidado en las condiciones mencionadas con anterioridad.
