The dB Super E-spec is the flagship Grand Touring Summer tire of Yokohama's ecologically friendly lines. Developed for hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles, as well as for the drivers of small cars that want to enhance their vehicle's fuel economy without abandoning dry and wet traction, the dB Super E-spec tires are designed to be environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient. Like all summer tires, dB Super E-spec tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The dB Super E-spec combines renewable orange oil with natural rubber to form Yokohama's Super Nano-Power Rubber (SNPR) compound to produce a tire that's 80% petrochemical free. The SNPR compound operates in dual modes that allow it to generate less heat and reduce rolling resistance during steady, straight driving, as well as enhance traction during active braking and cornering.

This compound is molded into a subtly directional tread design tuned to combine low noise with dry traction. Circumferential grooves help resist hydroplaning and strategically placed tread sipes increase surface contact to enhance wet traction. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to stabilize the tread area while minimizing weight. The dB Super E-spec tires also feature Yokohama´s AIRTEX Advanced Liner that combines the elasticity of rubber with the lightness and superior gas-barrier characteristics of plastic. Only one-fifth as thick as conventional tire liners, the new liner material slows down escaping air molecules to more effectively retain tire inflation pressure while it reduces tire weight and rolling resistance.

El neumático dB Super E-spec, es el neumático insignia de Yokohama en la categoría Gran Turismo Para Verano, en su línea amigable al medioambiente. Fue desarrollado para vehículos híbridos y vehículos con un eficiente consumo de gasolina, lo mismo que para conductores de autos pequeños que desean mejora el consumo de gasolina, sin sacrificar tracción sobre superficies secas o mojadas. Su diseño es amigable con el medioambiente y ofrece mejor consumo de gasolina. Como todo neumático de verano, el dB Super E-spec, no fue diseñado para ser utilizado en temperaturas cercanas al nivel de congelación o superficies con hielo o nieve.

El neumático dB Super E-spec, posee la mezcla de caucho Super Nano-Power Rubber (SNPR) desarrollada por Yokohama, la cual combina aceites de naranja renovable con caucho natural, creando un neumático 80% sin petroquímicos. La mezcla de caucho SNPR opera en dos modos, que le permiten generar menos calor y reducir la resistencia a rodar durante manejo constante en línea recta; al mismo tiempo mejora la tracción durante frenado persistente y al tomar curvas. Esta mezcla, es moldeada en una banda de rodamiento con diseño sutilmente direccional, que combina bajo ruido con tracción sobre superficies secas. Ranuras circunferenciales ayudan a resistir el deslizamiento en agua (hydroplaning) y pequeñas ranuras estratégicamente ubicadas aumentan la superficie de contacto para mejorar la tracción sobre superficies mojadas.

La estructura interna incluye correas gemelas de acero reforzadas con nailon envuelto en espiral, para estabilizar el área debajo de la banda de rodamiento y minimizar el peso. El neumático dB Super E-spec también tiene una avanzada cámara interna liviana (AIRTEX Advanced Liner de Yokohama), que combina la elasticidad del caucho con lo liviano y la mejor barrera de gas que ofrece el plástico. Esta cámara es solamente un quinto del grueso, de las capas encontradas en los neumáticos convencionales. Este material nuevo demora el escape de las moléculas de aire, y así retiene la presión de aire más efectivamente, al mismo tiempo que reduce el peso y la resistencia a rodar.
