Purchased this wheel with Continental ExtremeContact DWS in 245/40-17 size. The wheels are not extremely light but they are not extremely heavy. The offset pushes the outside of the wheel right to the edge of the body work. Asthetics are anyone's guess. I like the look a lot. The wheel is minimalist and the tires are "meaty". This setup makes the brake calipers stand out more than the stock wheels.
I downsized from the 18 inch "huffs" to the RTT524's. With the DWS tires the ride is much more compliant and quiet. The car also has an easier time turning the wheel when compared to the Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 tires I had before. This is probably due to the 225/40-18 profile of the tires more than anything else. The roads here are pretty horrible with all of the weather pattern changes. These wheels are very sturdy and have taken a beating with no signs of losing their "round" so far.
All in all a great setup. Goes extremely well with the red of my GTI.

Purchased wheel and tire combo and the wheels look and fit great, but the front right is causing a vibration. Tire Rack sent a new tire which I had to have mounted and balanced and the problem is still there. The tire shop did a lateral and radial runout on the rim and found it to be marginal.
