My 2009 Odyssey Touring, purchased new in March of 09, repeatedly developed front brake vibrations. Honda took care of them swapping rotors under warranty for the 1st 36,000 miles. I machined them once at 50,000 miles. The front pads were worn out at 80,000 and the rotors vibrating. I replaced them with StopTech Cryo-Treated Slotted Rotors and Akebono Performance Pads. I occaisionally take this Odyssey to the track with Audi Club Driving School Events (I am nuts. LOL). I have experienced no brake pulsations and the front pads have about 25% left. They never fade. For awesome service at the Tire Rack, contact Alex Mourales, ext 294. He s been helping me since 2001.

These brakes are PERFECT, in terms of low dust output, and NO noise at all! However, the pads lack the initial bite and overall braking power that the stock pads had. In addition when pressed hard through multiple hard braking corner entries the pads tend to fade (5-6 hard decorations). The stock brakes exhibited NO fade after MANY hard decelerations. The car is driven as a commuter with a 120 miles a day round trip, by my wife, and is only occasionally driven hard by me. For our purposes these pads work well for the time being. There is little to no wear after over 20K miles, very little dust compared to stock, and no noise (the stock pads would squeal until they were very warm, and covered the wheel in thick dust every few hundred miles!). If I were to consistently drive this car hard we would certainly not keep these pads, however if you are a commuter I do not think a better pad is available!

The Akebono Performance pads give me the stopping power I m looking for without all the drawbacks of traditional street performance brake pads. Initial bite isn t as strong as the OEM G37 pads, but these pads are more linear and it is easier bring the car to a stop smoothly. Stopping power is just as good, if not better than most street performance pads and the OEM pads. Full braking power, even at higher speeds, is very forceful with some ABS intervention with ultra high performance all season tires (Pilot Sport A/S 3).
There is some brake dust, but it is a light gray color and doesn t stick well to the wheel. Its hardly noticeable on silver wheels from 10 feet away, even after driving 500 miles. These pads make no noise at all regardless of the temperature. I live where winter lows can be single digits and noise and cold performance are as good as the OEM pads and much better than most street performance pads.
Wear on the pads are minimal, considering the driving conditions, but more surprising, is the lack of rotor wear. The double disc ground finish used on Centric/StopTech rotors was still visible even at 5,000 miles.
These pads also do not require a typical bed in procedure of performance pads such as doing 10 stops from 60-5 mph. At approximately 500 miles of normal driving, they started to feel normal. Before that, bite was very low, however plenty of emergency stopping power was still available. Fade is nearly nonexistent, but they do emit a slight smell when pushed hard. I suspect it would take hard track driving with racing slicks to overheat these pads. I have had no issues with disc thickness variation, pedal pulsating, brake judder, uneven pad deposits, etc. with these pads. The are as smooth as smooth can be, even on drilled rotors.
I found the right pad for my driving style. I see no need in high dust, high noise, street performance pads when these stop the car just as well, if not better. I will use these as long as they continue to meet my needs.
