KW  Variant 1 Coil-Over

Typical KW excellence. Better damping & pitch control than stock. Not harsh.

Overall good quality; however, the ride height adjustments are very limited.

The KW Variant 1 coilover kit was the first upgrade I put in my rather stock 97 E36 M3, and I must say, i m absolutely astonished by the results. After doing extensive reading on the forums on whether to go with Variant 2 (adjustable dampening) or Variant 1, I ended up saving the extra cash and going with the Variant 1. Many users on the forums said they they didn t really utilize the dampening settings on the Variant 2 and advised that I save the extra money, and I advise the same to you. Now onto the performance of the coilover. The ride quality is slightly stiffer than stock, and can be noticed at slow speeds driving around town. However, spirited backroad driving, the difference between aftermarket and stock, is what chalk is to cheese. The body roll issue I had within the stock setup had been completely gotten rid of, and my confidence level behind the wheel sky rocketed. The car feels so much more responsive, and absolutely eats anything in the road. Im running the stock staggered setup and i didn t have to roll my fenders to make the wheels fit. However i did purchase a 15mm space for the front so the wheel didn t sit too far within the wheel well. Im very impressed with the coilover kit and I recommend it to anyone who daily drives their e36 who doesn t want too much of a harsh ride, but also performs when needed.
