BFGoodrich g-Force Rival S 1.5 Reviews
Reviews indicate the BFGoodrich g-Force Rival S 1.5 delivers outstanding dry traction, with enthusiasts praising its exceptional grip, precise cornering, and consistent performance during autocross, track days, and HPDE events. Many users report shaving multiple seconds off lap times, noting the tire thrives when heated and handles aggressive driving with confidence. Wet traction receives mixed feedback, with some drivers experiencing hydroplaning in standing water and reduced grip in rainy conditions, though this aligns with its extreme summer focus. Treadwear is praised for a 200TW tire, offering decent longevity through heat cycles and dual-driver events when pressures are managed, though wear varies based on driving intensity.

I love the handling of the g-Force Rival S 1.5. My car responds great to these tires. I do a lot of highway driving as well as a lot of autocross - and even though these wouldn't be considered highway tires, I got good mileage from this set. The 1.5 version lasted much longer than the previous versions of the g-Force Rival S. I also noted that I had much less shoulder wear with the 1.5's. For autocrossing I like the turn in response, predictability of the handling and the quick warm ups. I know a lot of people are going with other brands, but I like these BF Goodrich Rivals best on my car.

...Super sticky when hot, tolerant of high slip angles and tolerant of rapid/violent transitions. On a 60 second course I figure they have cut 2-3 seconds from my lap times from before...
Bought my first set of these last year primarily for autocross, with some minor amounts of road driving to and from events. These replaced my Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Specs (215/40-17), and in terms of outright grip they are light years beyond the Dunlops. Super sticky when hot, tolerant of high slip angles and tolerant of rapid/violent transitions. On a 60 second course I figure they have cut 2-3 seconds from my lap times from before. And while not the primary reason for using them, they are also nicer to drive on the street: quieter and more comfortable.
Only downsides specific to the tire (and not the size I run) is that they do struggle some to find traction on colder event days between 40-50 deg F (not surprising considering the type of tire), and they aren't quite as good in the wet as the ZIIs were, or how the RE71Rs are for other folks.
Definitely will still continue to run these unless something better comes around. Already have another new set ready to install for 2018 autocross season!

...On mountain roads, they pull some incredible lateral G's and the staggered setup worked beautifully; the back end never once thought about stepping out. Very confidence-inspiring when braking before a corner...
I bought these tires to complement a set of 15x9 rims for my Miata. I chose a staggered fitment with 225/45s in front and 245/40s out back. I went staggered because A) 245s would have rubbed in front and B) I wanted a bit extra grip in back to keep the back end from getting squirrely. I was not disappointed; these tires have some serious grip. On mountain roads, they pull some incredible lateral G's and the staggered setup worked beautifully; the back end never once thought about stepping out. Very confidence-inspiring when braking before a corner. Keep in mind that these being a 200 treadwear "cheater" compound tire, they won't last very long even compared to some other 200 treadwear tires. Even so, the grip is so good that I'll keep buying these so long as they keep making them in these sizes.

Customers praise the Rival S 1.5's treadwear, with many scoring 8s and 9s for impressive durability through multiple track days, autocross runs, and 10,000+ street miles. Enthusiasts highlight consistent performance through heat cycles, longer-than-expected lifespan for a 200TW tire, and reliable grip even as tread wears-ideal for dual-duty drivers prioritizing track capability without sacrificing road usability.

I really like the BF Goodrich GForce Rival's. I drive my car to autocross events, not trailered, and I like the overall qualities of the tires. The steering response, traction and tread life are exceptional for this style tire. They warm up fast on the autocross course and provide the performance I'm looking for. I generally put 8000 to 15,000 miles on the car per year going to events and competing. I think it's hard to beat this tire.

...For the price, they grip well in dry and seem to be wearing well...
I’ve used these at 2 track events so far. 2 days at VIR (91 deg F) followed by 2 days at Summit Point (89 deg F). Haven’t driven in rain yet. So far I am pleased. For the price, they grip well in dry and seem to be wearing well. That said, my daughter did most of the driving at Summit Point and she doesn’t drive anywhere near the limit. Config on my 2017 Mustang GT is 275/35/19(f), 305/30/19(r). Brakes are G-Loc R12 (f), R10(r). Seemed to pair well.
They are noisy if you were to drive them around town.

Customers report mediocre wet traction, with some noting a tendency to hydroplane in standing water and reduced stability, requiring significant speed reduction. Several reviews describe slippery behavior in rain, with one driver experiencing "floating" on wet roads despite the tire's Extreme Performance Summer focus.

...In wet conditions on a lite car they will try to kill you...
These tires are soft so they stick like a leach until they don’t, I have never found the point on dry clean pavement that let go. In wet conditions on a lite car they will try to kill you. I love these tires on my track Miata makes want to a bigger engine in the find the limits of these tires.

...The weakness of this tire compared to the Re-71R is that they do not do well in the wet. If there is any standing water or just heavy rain at all they lose traction quickly. I have been caught in a rain storm driving to an event on a fresh set of rivals, and had to back down to about 45mph in a 70 just to have the car stop from floating in the lane...
Switching back and forth between the rival and the Bridgestone Re-71R over the last few season of autocross I can say that the Rivals are a very strong grippy tire. They are a tire you have to learn to trust as there is a little bit of slip before they get to their maximum corning potential. It is a little unsettling (especially in FWD cars) but they have tremendous lateral grip and speed when you figure them out. The weakness of this tire compared to the Re-71R is that they do not do well in the wet. If there is any standing water or just heavy rain at all they lose traction quickly. I have been caught in a rain storm driving to an event on a fresh set of rivals, and had to back down to about 45mph in a 70 just to have the car stop from floating in the lane. these are trade offs with a max performance summer tire, but even a well worn RE-71r will continue to preform better and be more predictable in the rain.

Good tire for autocross if you can figure out the tire pressure for your set up. High dry traction , very low in wet.
