The Turanza EL400-02 and Turanza EL400 w/UNI-T are Bridgestone's Standard Touring All-Season tires developed to meet the Original Equipment and replacement tire needs of drivers for their sporty coupes, sedans and vans. Turanza EL400 tires are designed to provide a luxury appearance, long wear and responsive handling along with dry, wet and year-round traction, even in light snow.

Bridgestone's Ultimate Network of Intelligent Tire Technology (UNI-T) features three core elements: CO'CS, a Computer Optimized Component System which allows design and manufacturing processes to work more cooperatively, leading to a more effective tire that doesn't significantly sacrifice one area of performance for improvements in another; O-Bead, a rounder bead structure that minimizes overlapped joints in the bead area for improved ride; and L.L. Carbon (Long Link Carbon) which helps the rubber compound resist microscopic tread tearing related to wear.

On the outside, Turanza EL400 tires features their tread rubber compound molded into a symmetric tread design with straight circumferential grooves to balance dry and wet road traction with noise comfort and hydroplaning resistance. On the inside, the Turanza EL400 features twin steel belts for strength and stability with a polyester cord body to enhance ride comfort.

*Specific sizes featuring UNI-T technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Why Gamble With Winter Tire Selection When Four of a Kind Always Beats Two Pair? (01:56)

Some drivers still doubt the industry's requirement for equipping front-wheel drive vehicles with matching winter tires all the way around. To address those doubts and demonstrate what can happen when mixed tires reach their limits on hard-packed snow and ice, we did some tests at our local skating rink.

Customers Say

Ratings show mixed results for the Bridgestone Turanza EL400-02. Treadwear receives frequent criticism (scores 0-3 common), with many noting premature wear. Comfort is inconsistent, with reports of road noise and harshness conflicting with some smooth ride experiences. Winter traction struggles in snow and ice (scores 0-4 typical). Wet traction shows modest grip (5-7 range) but hydroplaning concerns emerge in heavy rain. Dry traction stands out as the strongest area, with most users praising decent grip and stability (6-8 scores) for everyday driving. While suitable for mild climates, buyers prioritizing longevity or winter capability may find limitations.

...Dry weather handling is good, nothing like a sport cup tire but does exactly what it should...

I don't know where to start. After reading all of these negative reviews I am wondering what people expect from a $125-$130 tire. From my experience, mostly all driving conditions were great. I drive about 200 miles round trip on my commute to work and have nothing but positive things to say about these tires.

Dry weather handling is good, nothing like a sport cup tire but does exactly what it should.
Wet weather handling is good as well. I did not experience any hydroplaning except during heavy heavy rain, slow down. Problem solved.
Winter driving was great. These tires with the Subaru AWD is the best. It did great in snow to about 8 inches or so. If you are driving in snow deeper with this car, stop complaining about the tire and get off the road.

Bottom line, these tires worked great for me and will be buying these in the near future.

The tires squeal on dry asphalt, lose all traction in the wet (don't even think about in snow or ice)...

The Bridgestone Turanza EL-400-02 was original equipment on my Mazda5. The tires squeal on dry asphalt, lose all traction in the wet (don't even think about snow or ice), and are cracking substantially with about 30,000 miles on them. From a positive perspective, they're quiet and smooth. They're pretty terrible all around though and I can't wait to get rid of them.

Lasted about 40,000 miles of mostly highway driving with some spirited driving thrown in. Tires are good in the dry but are garbage when it turns wet or snowy especially for braking. Tires offered decent fuel economy but for the price, there is no reason to buy this tire again.

...They are and always have been absolutely terrible in the rain. Every since the car was new it would lose traction in the slightest bit of rain...

These tires are stock on my 2008 Sentra 2.0S. They are and always have been absolutely terrible in the rain. Every since the car was new it would lose traction in the slightest bit of rain. Forget taking this car in the snow with these tires, as all it will do is spin them. I had about an inch of snow in front of the car in a parking lot and it wouldn't climb over it even with the car in Low.

I am aware that some 2007+ Sentras are known for wearing tires because of an alignment problem in the rear from the factory, but mine doesn't have the alignment issue. These tires are essentially worn out at 30,000 miles and are actually beginning to seperate. I made sure it wasn't out of alignment and I also made sure that they were rotated. I have also seen several other Sentras with these tires and most of them around the same mileage as mine with same worn out tires problem. I cannot say how much I appreciate how awful these tires truly are. Thanks to Bridgestone for an awful set of tires and shame on Nissan and the other manufacturers for using them.

In closing, I would NOT reccomend these tires to anybody. They're not worth the money they cost new. I would look at the better alternatives out there before remotely considering these.

...Now 3 days ago we got 1.1 inches of snow. I was sliding all over the place (I was going approximately 10 mph, turned into my work, and the rear end slid out on me). When I parked I noted that snow had created sort of a snowball around the tread of the tire, which I guess means the tread is not clearing like it should (and maybe also explains the hydroplaning)...

These are the OEM tires on my Mazda 3. They are not good tires. With approximately 4000 miles on them, I drove from Chicago to Aspen, CO. On that trip I passed through Nebraska on Rt 80, which is almost all cement. These tires made some awful noises on that cement, ranging from a moaning sound to a undulating howling. I was highly annoyed. On my way back to Chicago, when coming down from the Eisenhower Tunnel, I encountered rain, and surprisingly, hydroplaning! The tires were basically new at that point so I was not expecting hydroplaning. When I got back home I seriously considered replacing the tires, but I decided to stick it out. They're not bad for commuting as long as the road is dry; I'm still spooked by that hydroplaning so I take it easy in the rain. If you can find pavement to drive on, then the noise is not so bad either. Now 3 days ago we got 1.1 inches of snow. ...And the snow! We had a light winter up here in Indiana and, even still, these tires managed a concerted effort to kill me. Between the lack of traction that made going down even slight inclines a harrowing ordeal to the stopping power that often saw me slide (at 5-10 mph and from 20+ feet away) right on into intersections with barely an inch of snow, I'd say these are probably the worst tires Mazda could have put on a car...

These tires came with my (used lease) Mazda3. They had about 19,000 miles on them at the time and a pretty substantial amount of tread left. Right from the get go, they were incredibly lackluster.

It'd lose a bit of grip on turns sometimes, but dry performance was- well, it was acceptable. But in the rain? Ha! Sliding around through turns, hydroplaning, and spinning out at stops with all but the tamest/slowest acceleration were all on the menu.

If these 3s weren't so ----ed fun to drive and I didn't love Mazda, I'd be inclined to knock them off my buy list because of this.

Replaced them, plenty of tread not withstanding, with some Sumitomo HTR A/S P02s.

It's night and day. These things are 2/3 the price and, yet, somehow stupidly better in every single respect.

I'm happy to finally get rid of these tires. They do fine in the summer but when the weather turns bad in the Winter they lose most of their traction in light snow or slush. Unfortunately for these tires I live in Chicago. These Turanza tires are the weakest part of an otherwise very dependable vehicle, Toyota should be embarrassed for choosing a tire that degrades the performance of a good vehicle. I've been looking for an excuse to get rid of these tires since the first winter that I bought this car. I'm almost at 40K and I can't take it any more. I'm replacing them with some Continental extreme contact tires, we'll see how they hold up this winter, I don't expect that they could perform much worse. If you live in the Midwest, and you see these tires on a new vehicle I would demand that the dealer replace them before purchasing the car. They are that bad.

...They're so loud, hearing someone on the Bluetooth phone is a constant struggle from ambient noise. They are the absolute loudest most rough uncomfortable tires ive ever had on a car...

Probably the worst tires ever after owning 9 cars. This is my third vehicle with OEM Bridgestone tires and once again, the worst tires ive ever had. My 2016 Camry has 10,000 miles on it and the tread is already poor, traction is Ok but really nothing great. They're so loud, hearing someone on the Bluetooth phone is a constant struggle from ambient noise. They are the absolute loudest most rough uncomfortable tires ive ever had on a car. I drove a friends camry just like mine with continental procontacts and wow what a difference. The cabin and ride was so much smoother. Tonight, while driving about 45 MPH down a smoothly paved road, I had a blow out in the Camry with the Bridgestone tires. No nail, no rocks, just a sizeable gash and split in the tire. I understand these things happen but the noise alone is beyond unacceptable for how expensive these tires are. I'll be buying continentals for the car tomorrow.

Turanza EL400-02 Tires came new on a 2016 Toyota Camry SE. No real issues with the tires performance, but then I'm a fairly mellow driver. Decent performance in rain and snow in Colorado. However the tires didn't make it even half way through warranty and are worn to needing replacement at 21,000 miles on the car, starting to squeal around corners, and are now slipping on wet roads. Tire store verified there's not enough tread left to safely take them into winter and recommended they be replaced soon.

What really ----s about this is that this is a lease with only a couple of months left before I intend to turn it in for a different vehicle. I am definitely not paying $165/tire for a new set of these Turanza EL400-02's for only a month or two of use, but if I return the car as is I'll fail inspection and get nailed by Toyota for full MSRP for their tires.

In the end, the poor tread life on these tires is going to cost $500-800 more on a 2 year lease then necessary.

These tires came with my ES350 from the factory and are likely the worst tires I have owned in many years of driving. The Bridgestone EL400-02's do provide a quiet comfortable ride in dry conditions. However being very retentive with my tires: always rotating at about 5000 miles, weekly pressure checks with an accurate gauge, regardless these tires are nearly bald at 20,000 mikes. They are also somewhat pricey, unfortunately Lexus only equipped higher optioned ES350 models with the excellent Michelin MXV4's.
