Continental  4x4 Contact

These tires came with the vehicle. They are pretty sticky on dry pavement, but not so good in more than a few inches of snow. The biggest problem with this tire is treadlife. At 14K miles they are down to 5/32 and ready for replacement. Feathering and the resultant tire noise are also a problem. Can't blame this on alignment since I have had my Touareg aligned twice and it has never been far off from specs. While I have taken an occasional hard corner with these tires, I mostly drive pretty conservatively, so driving style has not been a factor in premature wear. I have never had a tire last less than 25K on any vehicle, even my Porsche. I really don't know why anybody would buy this tire.

I have the Continental 4x4 contact in size 255/55/18. They are excellent. Much better than the Michelins I took off. Smooth ride, good handling, good traction in wet and dry. They also did well in the snow. I have over 25,000 on them and still have plenty of tread left. I will definitely be buying these again when they wear out.

Came with our 2010 Volvo XC90. It's a breeze to drive- very quiet and comfy.

After 46000 miles, these tires are still in excellent condition. I am considering replacing them at this time as the tread , while still legal, is not well wuited for winter slush and snow. If I manage to get past this winter, they will be good for about 5000 more miles. They are quiet, comfortable, and handle well on my ML320. They are not sports car tires for a truck, but rather all season grand touring tires. They are perfect for a Mercedes Benz. I understand that VW Toureg and Porsche Cayenne owners are wearing them out in 12000-14000 miles. This is not Continentals fault. VW/Porsche designed a poor suspension that loads the tire too much. Those trucks are also way too heavy. They are the right choice for all ML class vehicles.

Live in Florida but, despite the heat, have 49K+ miles on these tires and just now looking for replacements. Surprised at the mileage since only rated at 360. Did rotate them regularly. Wear is even and just now showing George Washington's head. Quiet ride, good handling.

These were OEM tires on the vehicle. They provide very respectable steering feel and cornering ability even for a such big vehicle. Dry traction is also quite good and road noise and ride comfort especially when new definitely befitting luxury vehicle.
But as soon rain starts be prepared to hydroplan... these tires are one of the worst I have ever experienced in wet condition. Even when they are new, they are hydroplaning over even most shallow puddles are norm. At highway speeds it is downright scary driving in rain this big vehicle on this tires, very unstable. Treadware is very average for the all season tires have to be repleaced right at 27000.
Overall: quite good when weather is dry buy in wet conditions these tires are unacceptable and treadware is mediocre as well. Michelin Latitude HP.

Worst tire I have had on a vehicle. I find it absolutely insulting that Nissan would use this tire as an OEM product. The tires were shot at 25000 miles, and I'm not an aggressive driver by any means. In all of my years of driving, I have never had a set of tires go on me this quickly. On top of that, for a tire on a compact SUV, they are extremely loud, and the traction quality in wet conditions is absolutely horrendous. I had a set of cheap, generic tires on my last vehicle that lasted over 75000 miles before I had to replace them.

I have put almost 40,00 miles on these tires so they have lasted longer than I expected. For me these tires displayed nothing really great and nothing really bad. The weakest part of this tire is the wet handling. At highway speeds in the rain they feel like they are about to hydroplane at any moment. They did not fill me with confidence. They do brake quite well in the wet though. If you drive conservatively when it is raining then you will never feel unsafe on these tires. I have driven for miles off-road in sand, dirt, and mud with these tires and have no complaints. I have not driven them in snow. As with almost every tire ... on-road in the dry they were perfect. Smooth, quiet, efficient, handled well, corners great, brakes well etc.

Worst winter tire ever put on an SUV. Why Land Rover would put these on an LR4 out of the factory is beyond me. It makes the LR4, which has a great 4WD system, look like a complete turd in the winter. Would never buy these, but they came with the LR4. Just waiting for them to run down this summer before putting on a good set of tires before another Chicago winter.

Terrible in the snow (light or deep).

I had no issues with these tires. Came with the car new. I drove back and forth to work year round, and through our last winter, I never got stuck in the snow. No tire noise, very smooth ride. My commute is mostly highway, and I rotate them frequently. (Every 5-8K miles). On highway, they feel very stable, and when pushed on entrance and exit ramps, they grip very well. Will replace with the same. Only downside, needs a little more traction in deep snow and ice.

This tire is crap. Can't believe Nissan still puts these things on their cars and suv's wear bars at 18,000 miles and have to replace at 27,000 miles. Very noisy. All wearing uneven, rotated every 6000 miles by Nissan. Stay away

This was OEM on the 2010 Honda CR-V. Tires were rotated at normal intervals. Tread wore out at 22,800 miles after 1 year 3 months. Not what I expect of a set of tires, was not looking to replace tires for at least 55,000 miles.

Came with my wife's 2011 CR V.... the only problem was she only got 17000 miles.... yes, you read that right 17000 miles.... every tire worn evenly so it wasn't a mechanical issue.... do not recommend.
