The ContiProContact is Continental's Grand Touring All-Season tire originally developed for European sport coupes and sedans sold in North America, and is now available for a wide range of imported and domestic cars. The ContiProContact is designed to blend good looks and handling with low noise and a smooth ride while providing all-season versatility and year-round traction, even in light snow.

The ContiProContact features an all-season tread compound molded into a symmetric, notched-rib tread design that provides continuous tread contact with the road to enhance steering response and handling while its wide circumferential grooves promote hydroplaning resistance and wet traction. Continental's PROactive Edge Technology places at least 800 arched edges in each ContiProContact tire's tread design to bring more active edges into the contact patch to promote stormy-weather traction while allowing the pattern elements to transfer smoothly from edge to edge to minimize on-road noise. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to stabilize the tread area promoting uniformity and high-speed durability.

*Specific sizes featuring low rolling resistance technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Customers Say

User experiences show the Continental ContiProContact delivers a smooth, quiet ride (7-9 comfort scores) with strong dry traction (7-10) and reliable wet performance, including good hydroplaning resistance (6-9). However, treadwear receives mixed feedback, with some noting premature wear (scores 0-10 vary widely). Winter traction is a concern, particularly on ice and in deep snow (common 0-5 scores), though lighter snow handling is adequate. While most praise its confident handling and comfort for grand touring use, inconsistent treadlife and limited winter capability may deter some buyers in harsh climates.

...This ContinentalProContact has amazing on the ice to my surprise. Granted this sedan is Mercedes 4 Matic all wheel drive but on solid unsalted and sanded ice, the 2.5 ton beast didn't show ANY signs of slippage on regular city roads...

Just picked up my 2014 New Black/Black E 550 4Matic Sports Mercedes from Park Place Dallas. have 2603 miles on it and here in Dallas, we just had one of the worst Ice Storms in years (from Dec. 6-Dec 9) with temperatures still below zero. This ContinentalProContact has amazing on the ice to my surprise. Granted this sedan is Mercedes 4 Matic all wheel drive but on solid unsalted and sanded ice, the 2.5 ton beast didn't show ANY signs of slippage on regular city roads. Id did take it from Irving Texas where I live to the Whole Foods Market at Lomo Alto and the Dallas Tollway on December 7th, 2013 and as I crossed the 1/4 mile of suspended FROZEN roadway bridge connecting Irving to Dallas and traversing the Trinity River Basen, the Continental Pro Contacts didn't flinch. I was traveling over 30 miles and hour too over this bridge in the far left lane (as most drivers were doing like 3 mph in the right lane SINGLE FILE)...I simply can't drive that fast EVER..so I flew over this bridge which by the way, was COMPLETELY COVERED with what I call Cobblestone Ice (Chunks of Ice that have dislodged from the wheel wells of tractor trailers and cars and then packed down unevenly resembling cobble stones of solid ice) As I traveled over all these ice chunks at 30 MPH, the suspenstion and these amazing tires maintained a straight linear direction without ANY sign of waiver. Granted this $78,000.00 Benz has every safety feature known to the auto industry including Electronic Stability Control but NONE of these devises were activated (no yellow triangle on the dash) as I flew over this treacherous bidge. I did have white knuckles when I finally reached the other side but I'm a firm believer that with all 800 side edge notches and wide groves along the circumference of each Continental Pro Contact tire, the feat was really fun and I've developed alot of confidence with these tires. Perhaps the other drivers thought I was nuts flying over that icy bridge; tires were AWESOME!!!

...I live in a rainy climate and I found they handle wet highway driving and hydroplaning very well...

These tires cam OEM on my Golf, I bought the car 2 years old with 17000 km on it. The tires were ready for replacement at 70000km so basically they lasted 4 years on the road.
I live in a rainy climate and I found they handle wet highway driving and hydroplaning very well.

When my car was at 35000km I had to drive approximately 80km a day in wet snow on the highway, and found them to handle far better than expected. They're obviously no the very best performing tire out there but overall I had no issues whatsover with quality.

Not one puncture in 2 years, and now at 70000km they are being replaced for another set.

Overall, for the price they are a good, comparable all season and I am quite happy with them.

...Dry traction was very good...

When I picked up my car, CPO from the dealer, last December, it had a half-worn set of these on it. They had a noisy, harsh ride that only got worse with further wear. Road noise would vary, depending on the particular paving material and grade of surface. Only a brand-new blacktop surface would give a quiet ride, everything else created noise, some to the extent that I thought there was something mechanically wrong with the car. Dry traction was very good, wet traction was good, but there was always the underlying feeling that the car was just about to break away. Snow traction was bad, ice traction was horrendous. I couldn't get these off the car fast enough. If it's ONLY for fair, dry weather and they're the cheapest you can get, go ahead and grab a set of these. Otherwise, they are NOT recommended.

...I've been very impressed by their performance in terms of ride, low noise, and particularly control in wet conditions...

These tires were original equipment. I've been very impressed by their performance in terms of ride, low noise, and particularly control in wet conditions. Even with 50,000 miles on them, their rated life span, they still have some life left in them and handle the rain without a problem. They have worn evenly on all corners without any adjustment. This is without question one of the best tires that I've ever owned, on any vehicle. I would and probably will buy again, and hope that the second set is the equal of the first given that four years have passed.

...Not only that, they performed terrible in any snow or ice conditions from day 1, which isn't good if you live in NE Ohio...

Although I rotate and align every 4k-5k miles, these tires were down to 3/32" after only 36k miles. Not only that, they performed terrible in any snow or ice conditions from day 1, which isn't good if you live in NE Ohio. They were adequate for comfort and fairly good on dry pavement but that doesn't make up for the shortcomings in wear and winter conditions. Definitely would not buy again.

...Snow and ice handling is marginal -- OK to get home, but poor choice for frequent snow/ice driving...

These were the OEM "All Season" on my S4. They were OK to start, but noisy on the highway. Snow and ice handling is marginal -- OK to "get home", but a poor choice for frequent snow/ice driving.

Noise steadily increased with wear. Treadwear is poor and uneven. At 25,000 miles one tire is shot, 2 are usable, but not good. Since quattro has to have matching tires, I will be scrapping these for something else.

After 22,000 miles the tires failed inspection, having only 2/32 of tread life left on them. That's worse than what I used to get on my notoriously tire-eating Honda Odyssey. My car has only 40,000 miles on it. All four tires have been replaced. I've gotten two flats, both of which were unfixable by patches. The tread on the two front tires is nearly bare to the point where I went out today and bought some Goodyears. I'm not sure exactly how many miles they have since I got the tires rotated but it couldn't be more than 40k and they should have been replaced a couple thousand ago. I literally asked for new tires for my birthday from my parents. They paid for one and I paid for the other.

The tires handle pretty well but to tell you the truth the car I have is only my first car, I've never driven it with a different set of tires. So it is hard for me to say if they are bad or good. They're decently quiet and do feel pretty good, but they were never impressive in the snow (I live in New York). I've slid down hills before completely unable to stop on less than an inch of snow.

The tires came with the Nissan Altima I purchased in 2011. Yesterday, when I took my car for 30,000 miles service to Nissan I was told that the tires are worn out to about 4 mil and all need to be replaced!! Surprised, I asked the service guy for the warranty on the tires. He looked up and said that Continental warranties the tires for 80,000 miles/6 years. I called Continental customer service and they said that the warranty does not apply to the tires that come with the car!! These tires are for marketing purposes (to hook the car owners) and the warranty only applies to the manufacturing defects. They don't consider faster tread wear-out a defect. This is a serious customer rip-off. No one accepts responsibility and the consumers are cheated of substantial amount of money. Anyone out there with this problem? I'll go to BBB and others to escalate this issue. You should also.
