The ContiSportContact 3 is Continental Tire's Max Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of powerful sports cars, sports coupes and luxury sedans. The ContiSportContact 3 is designed to combine outstanding braking capability and agile steering precision. Like all summer tires, the Continental ContiSportContact 3 is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

ContiSportContact 3 tires feature an asymmetric design with solid tread blocks and a continuous rib on the outboard shoulder to improve responsiveness and cornering stability, while continuous intermediate ribs provide constant rubber-to-road contact to reduce noise and control the longitudinal forces experienced when braking. The continuous circumferential tread grooves help disperse water to resist hydroplaning and their asymmetrically angled walls further stabilize the tread ribs, increasing steering precision and reducing deformation while cornering. The notched shoulder blocks on the inboard portion enhance wet weather traction.

The tire's structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by nylon to stabilize the tread area and enhance handling as well as high-speed capability.

Continental Reviews

Drivers consistently rate the Continental ContiSportContact 3 as excellent in dry traction, with many scores hitting 9-10 for grip, cornering stability, and steering responsiveness. Wet traction earns solid 7-9 ratings, showing confident handling in rain despite occasional hydroplaning concerns. Comfort receives praise for a smooth, quiet ride, with noise levels often rated 7-10. However, treadwear scores vary widely-while some report 8-10 durability, many note premature wear (scores as low as 1-5), highlighting a shorter lifespan than expected for a max-performance summer tire. Ideal for drivers prioritizing dry/wet performance and comfort, but tread longevity may disappoint those seeking extended use.

...Excellent quick steering response as well as confidence in wet conditions make the SportContact 3 a good choice for any driving enthusiast.

The Conti SportContact 3's were OEM-installed with the S-line package (19") from Audi. I was pleased that was the case based on a great deal of positive experiences with the prior SportContact 2. In my opinion, the SportContact series has always been an excellent choice for a high-performance tire for driving enthusiasts on their sports-oriented cars. I have always thought that the Conti's provide a very good overall balance of performance characteristics at an excellent price point. They provide a comfortable, quiet ride when crusing the highway but will stick tenaciously when the road and/or driver wants to get more aggressive. Excellent quick steering response as well as confidence in wet conditions make the SportContact 3 a good choice for any driving enthusiast.

...The Conti's improved dry and wet performance, ride, handling, road feel, noise, and treadwear tremendously...

I replaced the Potenza RE050 RFT's on my 335 with regular ContiSport Contact 3's. The Conti's improved dry and wet performance, ride, handling, road feel, noise, and treadwear tremendously. I put around 8K miles on the tires and they are showing hardly any wear, even at the notorious BMW inside rear. These tires are perfect for the 335's mission. The Potenza RunFlats, on the other hand, flat-out ----.

...much better grip on dry pavement than the Pirellis ever had. With some typical hard AMG driving, there would always be splattered Pirelli rubber all over the sides of the car, despite traction control. At least at this point in time, the Contis are not doing this to any significant degree...

I just replaced Pirelli PZero Nero with the ContiSportContact3. My car is rough on tires, as it has a lowered suspension resulting in negative camber. It also has a performance package translating into 598HP/626TQ. Even new, I can say with confidence the Contis have a much better grip on dry pavement than the Pirellis ever had. With some typical hard AMG driving, there would always be splattered Pirelli rubber all over the sides of the car, despite traction control. At least at this point in time, the Contis are not doing this to any significant degree. Noise and comfort seem fine given the 305/25-20 and 255/30-20 sizes on 20x11 and 20x9 wheels, respectively. Treadwear rating suggests these will last longer than the other few tires available in the 305/25-20 size (Pirelli & Yokohama at Tire Rack). And these are a bit cheaper too. I had these mounted and balanced at my home by AZ Mobile Tire, they seem to have balanced perfectly since there is no vibration at the steering wheel and tracking is stable. Anyway Im impressed and would definitely recommend these! Note: Since I live in the desert I cannot comment on how these perform in wet conditions.

...The wear, grip, and cornering performance all as advertised on a high speed track reaching up to 140 mph... I was only 1 second off the best times I did when compared to supposed track tires such as the Hankook RS-3s...

For everyday use, they are ok, but a bit harsh when compared to say Pilot Super Sports. HOWEVER, I tried them recently at the track as I heard that's actually where they shine. And shine they did. The wear, grip, and cornering performance all as advertised on a high speed track reaching up to 140 mph. I was most surprised that the shoulders of the tire did not melt as quickly as the Pilot Super Sports I had and wear overall after the two day event was pretty minimal. In fact, I was only 1 second off the best times I did when using supposed track tires such as the Hankook RS-3s. I would most likely consider just taking these tires to the track again. The only thing that didn't stand up to the test was threshold braking from high speeds, the tires were overpowered by the racing brake pads I had on the car, this is normal I suppose, but that's the main negative I would have to give them. Other than that, a perfectly fine tire to use on the track, especially if you're just starting out.

i was worried, going from a stiff goodyear run flat tire to these. after about 200 miles those worries were gone !...the sidewall deflection was "different"... the trade off for a comfortable ride, and proven wet weather traction (i have these on an older camaro ss) made the tires AWESOME !!!

i was worried, going from a stiff goodyear run flat tire to these. after about 200 miles those worries were gone !.....the sidewall deflection was "different". they held at almost any speed in the corners. the body roll seemed to be more, but the trade off for a comfortable ride, and proven wet weather traction (i have these on an older camaro ss) made the tires AWESOME !!!
they wear fast, but hey your buying a super sticky tire !! if you want a 20K item look elsewhere (or you aint driving your car). if you want race proven tech, and the knowledge they use in these ...buy them !!
75 through standing water on the florida highway, no slip !!------the rooster tails are insane though !!

love these, will buy them again !!

...very low noise even on abrasive pavement...

Excellent tires, very low noise even on abrasive pavement. Great steering response, fast, sharp and accurate. Sidewalls are kind of soft, but cornering is still excellent, braking is super. So far can not find anything bad about them, just a bit stiffer sidewalls would be better, but will try increasing pressure to 39 psi and will see.

Great tires overall, almost as good as Pirelli 6000

...I would buy them again if they did not completely wear down to the brim at 12k miles, they are really expensive... if you don't mind replacing tires every year go right ahead and buy the continentals because for the traction you get they are good, just wish they would last longer.

These came on the car when I bought it a year ago from the dealer. I like the look of them. Right after I bought the car I was amazed with the grip because in dry conditions they stick, and I mean STICK to the asphalt good weather your taking turns, breaking/accelerating hard, or cruising on straight. Wet traction is less than average but oh well I was able to adjust my driving habits in order not to loose control. I would buy them again if they did not completely wear down to the brim at 12k miles, they are really expensive so I chose the Goodyear Eagle Sport all seasons as my next set, after these will probably go to the pilot super sports but if you don't mind replacing tires every year go right ahead and buy the continentals because for the traction you get they are good, just wish they would last longer.

Great tires. Very predictable, great grip, no sudden breakaway, very forgiving. Live on Gulf Coast, no real issues in wet conditions. Only complaint is they wore out, down to the belts in about 30,000 miles, but then, there is this issue about driving style...BTW, I bought this last set at Tire Rack too.
