The ContiSportContact 3 is Continental Tire's Max Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of powerful sports cars, sports coupes and luxury sedans. The ContiSportContact 3 is designed to combine outstanding braking capability and agile steering precision. Like all summer tires, the Continental ContiSportContact 3 is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

ContiSportContact 3 tires feature an asymmetric design with solid tread blocks and a continuous rib on the outboard shoulder to improve responsiveness and cornering stability, while continuous intermediate ribs provide constant rubber-to-road contact to reduce noise and control the longitudinal forces experienced when braking. The continuous circumferential tread grooves help disperse water to resist hydroplaning and their asymmetrically angled walls further stabilize the tread ribs, increasing steering precision and reducing deformation while cornering. The notched shoulder blocks on the inboard portion enhance wet weather traction.

The tire's structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by nylon to stabilize the tread area and enhance handling as well as high-speed capability.

Customers Say

Feedback consistently shows the Continental ContiSportContact 3 excels in dry traction, with scores 9-10 highlighting exceptional grip, cornering stability, and steering responsiveness. Wet traction earns strong marks (7-9 range) for reliable performance in rainy conditions, though a few users noted reduced confidence in heavy standing water. Comfort receives positive feedback for responsive handling and decent noise levels, though some mention firmer ride characteristics typical of max-performance tires. Treadwear emerges as a key concern, with lower ratings (often 1-5) indicating faster wear than expected for drivers prioritizing aggressive summer performance. Overall satisfaction remains high for intended dry/wet use, with many users accepting treadlife trade-offs for sharp handling.

...The Conti's improved dry and wet performance, ride, handling, road feel, noise, and treadwear tremendously...

I replaced the Potenza RE050 RFT's on my 335 with regular ContiSport Contact 3's. The Conti's improved dry and wet performance, ride, handling, road feel, noise, and treadwear tremendously. I put around 8K miles on the tires and they are showing hardly any wear, even at the notorious BMW inside rear. These tires are perfect for the 335's mission. The Potenza RunFlats, on the other hand, flat-out ----.

...Excellent quick steering response as well as confidence in wet conditions make the SportContact 3 a good choice for any driving enthusiast.

The Conti SportContact 3's were OEM-installed with the S-line package (19") from Audi. I was pleased that was the case based on a great deal of positive experiences with the prior SportContact 2. In my opinion, the SportContact series has always been an excellent choice for a high-performance tire for driving enthusiasts on their sports-oriented cars. I have always thought that the Conti's provide a very good overall balance of performance characteristics at an excellent price point. They provide a comfortable, quiet ride when crusing the highway but will stick tenaciously when the road and/or driver wants to get more aggressive. Excellent quick steering response as well as confidence in wet conditions make the SportContact 3 a good choice for any driving enthusiast.

...75 through standing water on the florida highway, no slip !!------the rooster tails are insane though !!...

i was worried, going from a stiff goodyear run flat tire to these. after about 200 miles those worries were gone !.....the sidewall deflection was "different". they held at almost any speed in the corners. the body roll seemed to be more, but the trade off for a comfortable ride, and proven wet weather traction (i have these on an older camaro ss) made the tires AWESOME !!!
they wear fast, but hey your buying a super sticky tire !! if you want a 20K item look elsewhere (or you aint driving your car). if you want race proven tech, and the knowledge they use in these ...buy them !!

...much better grip on dry pavement than the Pirellis ever had. With some typical hard AMG driving, there would always be splattered Pirelli rubber all over the sides of the car, despite traction control. At least at this point in time, the Contis are not doing this to any significant degree...

I just replaced Pirelli PZero Nero with the ContiSportContact3. My car is rough on tires, as it has a lowered suspension resulting in negative camber. It also has a performance package translating into 598HP/626TQ. Even new, I can say with confidence the Contis have a much better grip on dry pavement than the Pirellis ever had. With some typical hard AMG driving, there would always be splattered Pirelli rubber all over the sides of the car, despite traction control. At least at this point in time, the Contis are not doing this to any significant degree. Noise and comfort seem fine given the 305/25-20 and 255/30-20 sizes on 20x11 and 20x9 wheels, respectively. Treadwear rating suggests these will last longer than the other few tires available in the 305/25-20 size (Pirelli & Yokohama at Tire Rack). And these are a bit cheaper too. I had these mounted and balanced at my home by AZ Mobile Tire, they seem to have balanced perfectly since there is no vibration at the steering wheel and tracking is stable. Anyway Im impressed and would definitely recommend these! Note: Since I live in the desert I cannot comment on how these perform in wet conditions.

...Dry handling is predictable all the way through the limit... These tires inspire confidence all the way up to the car's electronically limited 150mph. Even deep into triple digit speeds, handling remained precise and grip was excellent.

Fantastic tire. I've run the evolution of the SportContact series for years now and the SC3 is clearly the result of quality R&D. Dry handling is predictable all the way through the limit. Hydroplaning resistance is excellent even at speeds upwards of 75mph (on the autobahn). Wet traction is also very predictable. The tires wore evenly, with regards to each axle (naturally the rears didn't last as long). At this price point, they are certainly a better buy for performance that equals or exceeds Pirelli and Michelin. The relatively stiff sidewalls make for crisp steering response without compromising ride quality. Noise is negligible. These tires inspire confidence all the way up to the car's electronically limited 150mph. Even deep into triple digit speeds, handling remained precise and grip was excellent.

...these ride smooth, are very tough, have great wear life, dont cup on a AWD as almost every other time will except micheling pilot sports...

Im very picky. have used all tires you can imagine from dunlop sp sport maxxx(best grip better than sports) but out of all the tires i would say these are the best.i use a separate set for the winter of nokians which the sidewall has blown out 5 times on those. these ride smooth, are very tough, have great wear life, dont cup on a AWD as almost every other time will except micheling pilot sports. use these on a volvo s60R which has over 300hp and i love em. great tire if u want sticky the dunlops are better...u want more millage the michelins are better....u want best price for a very sticky tough tire that wears well than get these......im not saying this and have used michelin mx4s and such as a lot of reviewers i have used tires from almost every manufacturer and i tend to buy the most expensive and i would say these are the best in their bracket, also remember continental makes over 80% of the stability systems and braking systems in the world so they know what they are doing (yes yes brembo makes the most rotors and calipers) but conti designs them and they uses manufacturers parts they design the system and electronics.....hope this was useful......i live in MA and our roads suk and these take the beating from potholes

Average performance for a summer tire. Well-below average noise and wear. Only 8500 miles and will need to be replaced soon. My winter Michelin's are much quieter and perform almost as well, unbelievable! Already cupping and have unusual wear on the outside edges. Don't even bother, almost anything else would be better.

...They are now down past the wear bars and it is time for replacements at just under 25,000 miles... The one issue I am not impressed with is the tread-life. I was hoping to get better tread-wear over the original Conti SportContact 2's but it was actually slightly less by perhaps 3-4k miles and I drive the car less aggressively now than when new...

These tires were only used half-year during warmer weather (Blizzak's on steel rims during winter). OEM on the car were Conti SportContact 2's and they had very good dry handling and response and I bought these expecting they would perform as well or better. They are now down past the wear bars and it is time for replacements at just under 25,000 miles. All in all I found these tires to be good dry performers with better than average steering response. Wet grip is average or slightly less so. I found myself on several occasions taking a corner a bit too fast in the rain and the tires would start to slip (in a very controlled manner thankfully). The one issue I am not impressed with is the tread-life. I was hoping to get better tread-wear over the original Conti SportContact 2's but it was actually slightly less by perhaps 3-4k miles and I drive the car less aggressively now than when new. Ride comfort was acceptable considering the low profile of the tires, however road noise increased with wear. Prior to replacement road noise is quite a bit louder than when new. I will likely not purchase this specific model of tire again though I have been happy with Continental overall. I have replaced these with Continental's ExtremeContact DWS (Ultra High Performance All-Season) in search of higher tread-life and smoother ride comfort knowing that I will undoubtedly sacrifice handling and steering response. I rather dislike replacing these every two summers.
