The CrossContact LX is Continental's Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire developed to help crossovers, sport utility vehicles and light-duty pickup trucks perform on the highway and in light off-road conditions. The CrossContact LX is designed to reduce noise and rolling resistance* while enhancing ride comfort and all-season traction, even in light snow.

The CrossContact LX molds Continental's Tri-net silica tread compound into an asymmetric tread design that delivers all-season handling and traction. Its notched outboard shoulder supported by a continuous circumferential rib promotes on-road steering response, straight-line stability and ride comfort. Three rows of independent central tread blocks featuring interlocking sipes enhance traction in light snow while four broad circumferential grooves feature a tapered profile (widening at the tread surface) to enhance hydroplaning resistance and reduce the possibility of tire damage from stones becoming caught in the tread design. Continental's Acoustic Alterra Technology, derived from the study of sound over all surfaces, helps reduce road noise.

The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts to provide strength on top of a polyester cord body that helps cushion the ride. All sizes of the CrossContact LX come with a flanged lower sidewall to help reduce the possibility of curb damage to expensive wheels.

*Specific sizes featuring low rolling resistance technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

...Since the provided text does not contain any specific phrases about wet traction performance to bold, I cannot add any bold tags. The text only contains a general mention of wanting tires for wet conditions but no actual performance descriptions or measurements...

Houston, Texas - Rain capitol of America! I needed a new set of skids for my supercab Ford F150, and since it rains a lot in this area and the streets flood easily, I really wanted something that could work well in wet conditions. It never snows and I really don't ever take the truck off road, so I wanted excellent dry on-road performance, too. I also pull moderately heavy trailers (about 4,000 to 6,000 pounds) from time to time so I wanted a tire with a good load rating. But I also demanded that my new tires be quiet and comfortable because I absolutely hate rough, noisy tires. Price wasn't really a big issue, but like anyone I'm on a budget and so I wanted to get the best deal possible among the tires that met my search criteria. DO I SOUND PICKY? You bet I am! And this is where tirerack.com and the Continental CrossContact LX tires come into the picture. I had narrowed my search to these tires and the Michelin LTX M/S tires. Both are excellent and both would serve my needs perfectly...but these babies were $80 less PER TIRE than the Michelins! It was an easy decision and one I don't regret. I bought them, took them to Walmart where I paid $55 out the door for lifetime mounting, rotating & balancing, and I've never looked back. These tires are EXCELLENT and they are an absolute steal for the price! In fact, I'm buying a new set for my Dodge Ram 1500 and so I figured I would take a moment to write this review in case it can help anyone out there who has similar needs for their tires. The Michelins are always attractive options, but it's really hard to justify the extra $320 it would have cost to buy them. If the CrossContact LXs were more expensive, then it might be a different story...I might go with the Michelins.

The tires are still new (less that 1000mi) but I have driven them in heavy downpours as well as dry surfaces and they handle perfectly at any speed. No hydroplaning or even a hint even at 65 to 70mph. I had to slam on my brakes this morning in the rain and they stopped as if I was on dry pavement!...

These tires are remarkable! I was skeptical that a $535 out the door set of tires would be any good, but I could not have asked for more. My primary concerns were rain handling and smoothness with quiet ride. All tires should handle well in dry weather.

These are fantastic and I highly recommend them. This is my second post on these tires.

Very happy with this tire despite returning it for tread-life warranty claim at 33k. Handled snow and poor road conditions well, and offered confident handling in dry conditions. Earned my trust on a terribly snowy night drive on I-81 from North Carolina to Pennsylvania, while so many others found themselves in the ditch.

...So far, these Cross Contacts feel terrific on the Cayenne. If they go the distance, and they feel good in the snow - we havent had a good storm yet to tell- Ill be swearing by these tires instead of at them.

I purchased these tires despite the fact that Porsche will only recommend an N rated tire for this vehicle, when you consider that all the N rated tires I found for this vehicle only had a treadwear of about 20-25K miles. This tires

is designated for more than twice that kind of mileage. My original equipment (N) rated Continental Contacts were gone at 18,000 miles. I stretched them a few more, which I dont like to do. So far, these Cross Contacts feel terrific on the Cayenne. If they go the distance, and they feel good in the snow - we havent had a good storm yet to tell- Ill be swearing by these tires instead of at them.

...With the wider tires I have fantastic grip and handling...

I replaced my Ameritrac tires (OEM) with these continentals and I am very happy. The OEMs lasted about 36,000 miles, but I did not have confidence with them. I have 17 inch wheels and the continentals did not come in my size. I had to get the 265x65-17s instead of the 245x70-17s that came on the truck. I wanted to maintain my speedometer reading. With the wider tires I have fantastic grip and handling. I tow a 5th wheel and the wider tires should help with stability during cross winds. I have not seen deep snow, but have seen some icing and some light snow. No problem. I am thinking of getting this same brand and model for my wife's Santa Fe.

Found a tire that can stand up to the Cayenne S without breaking the bank. My wife loves these tires, she has absolute confidence in them. Could not say the same for the original Pirelli's, which wore early and cupped. Not quite as much absolute grip, but great for real world driving, even on very twisty North Carolina mountain roads. Not as loud as they were on our Acura MDX. All around great tire, even in limited snow exposure. Make sure you inflate them to specs, they will feel pretty hard on bumps but it makes a big difference in gas mileage and wear.

...These tires are phoenominal in wet or dry conditions...

I just bought thes based on Tire Rack's reviews and boy did I do well! These tires are phoenominal in wet or dry conditions. I have not had them long enough to test ice and smow, but that is not what they are for. I just know that in a torrential downpour they grip the road at 65-70 miles per hour like the road was dry. Everyone's reviews were right. I went by that, because the tire dealerships all said Continental tires were not good for trucks. The reviewer who said you don't have to spend $800 for tires was exactly right. I love these tires. They replaced BFG Rugged Trails and I thought the BFG's were very good until these were put on.

Buy these tires. You won't be disappointed.

Great tire! I bought this tire because of the low price and good ratings. I was definitely not disappointed. This tire is great in dry, wet, and icy conditions. Ride comfort and noise level were great too. I could easily hear the radio while I drive. After 15000 miles, there are still no signs of treadwear. They still look brand new! This tire is also one of the better looking tires on Tire Rack. I will definitely buy this tire again and recommend it. Of course, I wont have to go looking for new tires soon since the treadwear is so good.

Tire felt stiff and a little harsh after installation. After a month they felt better. Very quiet and comfortable ride; better then original tires. MPG improved only slightly and mostly on highway. City driving MPG is the same. I'm happy with the product and the deal.

...They are extremely quiet and make the highway drive a pleasure! ... These tires feel firmer in the response of the truck and the way that it drives and yet doesn't transmit the majority of the harseness of the road.

I have had Geolanders and the Michelin LTXs on this vehicle. I now have 80K miles on it and these new Continentals (LXs) are the best tires that I have had so far! I only have about 600 miles on the new Conti's, but I've put them through the snow, ice, freeway, dry and wet in those miles. They are extremely quiet and make the highway drive a pleasure! While we were on the mountain skiing - it was snowing - we had about 4 inches of snow on top of ice, chains were required on all but 4 wheel drive vehicles (but recommended). We were following friends - their car was struggling for traction even with chains. We on the other hand had no chains and no need for chains - the truck never broke traction, even pulling some of the steep driveways we were on. So I would highly recommend these tires and with a treadware of 680 I should get some excellent mileage on them as well! These tires feel firmer in the response of the truck and the way that it drives and yet doesn't transmit the majority of the harseness of the road.

...I have rotated these tires every 5-6K miles and had them rebalanced at 14K. They show no wear after 21K...

This is a follow up to a very positive previous review I wrote shortly after buying the Cross Contact LX tires last year.

This tire has been excellent for my type driving... mostly around town and on the highway in an area with frequent heavy snowfall (Central New York) in the winter. These tires have been outstanding in all conditions, both summer and winter. Smooth and quiet on the highway and no problems in any level of snow. Of course I do have 4WD, but almost never need to use it.

I have rotated these tires every 5-6K miles and had them rebalanced at 14K. They show no wear after 21K. While I have always been skeptical of Continental tires these have been a pleasant surprise. I have 95K miles on my Tahoe and the first 75K were on noisy Goodyear Wrangler A/Ts that chopped early on.

I highly recommend these tires and would definately buy them again.

I purchased this tire from tire rack due to its price and most importantly its rating. I have never had a Conti prior to this, but heard it to be a good choice for full-size SUVs. I am more than pleased with its performance and wear. They have approx. 40k on them and still about halfway to the wear indicators. I do a lot of highway driving and rotate and balance regularly, but they have had excellent even wear. One of them got a nail in it a few months ago, and I was hesitant about replacing it so far into the mileage, so I kept it. I havent noticed any difference in noise or ride. I will definitely consider purchasing again.

...With over 5,000 miles on these tires and driving in all types of weather conditions, I've yet to notice any tread wear and these tires have exceeded my expectations.

I recently bought a used S10-Blazer with a set of old Cooper tires on it that still had tread left. I drove from Eastern U.P. Michigan to Tire-Rack on my way to Chicago to pick them up. The old tires never felt secure on wet payment and traction on light snow was scary. I had to stay behind slower vehicles throughout the entire trip. I noticed the difference immediately once the new tires where mounted. On the way home, I was driving in the left lane passing everyone on the freeway and roads in rain and snow. I felt secure the entire trip with a cruising speed that shorten my return trip by over 2 hours.

Up here in Michigan's upper peninsula we drive on ice and snow packed roads most of the winter. These tires do the job great. I always feel secure on the road and can drive without any worries. I though I was going to have to buy a set of winter tires for the snow season but I see no reason to now.

The tires look great on the vehicle. I particularly like the raised rubber edge around the tire bead area that protects my aluminum rims as well as the white lettering that is well done by Continental.

I did find, however, that the tire is somewhat limited in that when I'm driving in over 3-4 inches of snow, traction suffers as can be expected of an all-season tire. That is the only time I've ever had to put the vehicle in four-wheel drive except for when accelerating up moderate to steep hills.

With over 5,000 miles on these tires and driving in all types of weather conditions, I've yet to notice any tread wear and these tires have exceeded my expectations.
