Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The SportContact 6 is Continental's Max Performance Summer tire developed to meet the engineering demands of vehicle manufacturers' highest performing models. Introduced to the U.S. as the Original Equipment tire on the exclusive Audi R8 V10 Plus, the SportContact 6 is designed to combine responsive handling, ultimate grip and high speed stability in dry and wet conditions. However, like all Max Performance Summer tires, the SportContact 6 is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The tread rubber of the SportContact 6 is Continental's Black Chili compound, which utilizes a special racing grade carbon black designed to interact with the texture of the road for maximum adhesion, in addition to quickly reaching operating temperature. The asymmetric tread pattern features a strong outboard shoulder with a closely spaced intermediate rib for lateral stability during at-the-limit handling. The continuous center rib provides uninterrupted contact with the road for solid on-center feel and responsive turn-in. The deep, circumferential grooves and lateral notches efficiently evacuate water from beneath the contact patch to resist hydroplaning.

Internally, a two-ply rayon casing supports two high-tensile steel belts. Continental's exclusive Aralon 350 hybrid cap ply reinforces the steel belts and helps maintain the tire's shape at high speeds for increased stability and control.

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

Customers Say

User feedback reveals the Continental SportContact 6 delivers outstanding dry traction (frequent 9-10 scores) with precise steering and confident cornering, living up to its max performance summer billing. Wet traction earns strong praise (mostly 7-10) for reliable grip, though a few note reduced sharpness in heavy rain. Ride comfort receives mixed feedback-many appreciate its sport-oriented firmness, while others find road noise noticeable at higher speeds. Treadwear emerges as a key concern, with numerous low scores (0-4 range) indicating shorter lifespan than expected for some drivers. Enthusiasts highlight its track-ready responsiveness, but those prioritizing longevity may find wear rates challenging despite the tire's summer-focused performance strengths.

...Exceptional cornering and braking traction in the wet. Progressive give at the limit...

Great tire!! Exceptional cornering and braking traction in the wet. Progressive give at the limit. Very close in performance to my benchmark tire: Michelin Pilot Sport 4, but w/ less tread life. Wore very evenly down to the wear bars at about 23k mi, reasonable life for summer-performance tire considering driving style and vehicle weight. Road imperfections and undulations, seem more slightly more pronounced (perhaps due to stiffer sidewall?), but tires held up to DC potholes very well.

...The traction in the wet is very good...

OEM tire on my 2017 Civic Type R. It's a decent tire for daily driving but this review is for HPDE's. The traction is the wet is very good. Sidewalls are nice and stiff and the feedback was great. Unfortunately, I had to let a decent amount of air out of the tires to increase the corning grip at the limits and it killed the sidewalls within two days. To be fair, it was back to back sessions, but this tire couldn't handle the heat. Increasing the air pressure on the next set saved the sidewalls but the tires didn't have the 'bite' in corners and felt a little sloppy. After my current set are worn down, I'll be trying a few other brands in this size and price point to see how they hold up.

These tires have amazing straight and cornering dry grip and exceptional wet traction...

These tires are the best I have had on any of my vehicles ever. I tried Michelin tires on my Audi RS5 and they wore fine; however, on center steering was poor and were very noisy compared to these specific Continental tires. These tires have amazing straight and cornering dry grip and exceptional wet traction. They are the quietest tires because of the tread design and the sound-deadening foam strip on the inside of the tire. I have even raced on a 3.1 racetrack with these ultra performance street tires and they were perfect! So, they are perfect for daily driving and spirited driving.

...Did 2 track days with these stock tires and they did not disappoint... The dry traction in the corners is out of this world...

These tires have a very small sidewall so you must be careful driving around town. Did 2 track days with these stock tires and they did not disappoint. They should be good for 1 more track day then it will be time to replace. The dry traction in the corners is out of this world. ¿¿

...That said dry traction and cornering stability are both off the charts.

Very early, with very few clicks on them but so far I'm very impressed with these OEM 19" Continentals. Will update a review after the end of the summer. So far the only down side is the noise but riding on 19s it's inevitable. That said dry traction and cornering stability are both off the charts.

...Dry traction - car will overpower the fronts in 2nd through all of the upper half of the rev band, and sometimes in 3d, at around 4k rpm. I don't think that's the tires' fault...

Very happy with these tires. It is impossible to compare to other brands because these are OE tires and I have not tried others on this car. The car is so different from other cars I've driven in recent years that I cannot compare to the tires on those other cars. 10k miles so far on these OE tires and it looks like I will get another 10k miles of tread life, contrary to some who have needed to change at less than 10k. Dry traction - car will overpower the fronts in 2nd through all of the upper half of the rev band, and sometimes in 3d, at around 4k rpm. I don't think that's the tires' fault. At temps in the 50s F, noticeably less grip, but these are summer-only tires. Like most (all?) summer only tires, manufacturer recommends not driving the car when temps get to 20 F, and then wait to warm up to 40 F. Don't drive, inflate, mount, they say - nothing when it's that cold. However, I've seen tire tests in temps colder than that on summer tires, so I think manufacturers are being overly safe.

...Comfort is good and road noise is very minimal...

These tires came as factory equipment for my 2017 Honda Civic Type R and overall I must say that they are a good tire! I was told to only expect 10k miles out of these tires but here I am at over 9000 miles and they still have about 40% left! I was expecting them to be completely bald by the 10k mark but it looks like I will make it past that to 15 or maybe 20. They grip to the road really well when you go into corners and they are good in the wet, but not the best. Under heavy rain they lost grip here and there but nothing too serious where I didn¿t feel safe. I¿ve had these tires for over 9000 miles and I haven¿t come across any major issues. I do an equal mix of highway and city driving. There is a review on here saying that they got multiple flats and that it was an issue with the tire, but I can assure you that it¿s not. These tires exceeded my expectations. When it¿s time to buy tires again these tires will be in a debate with the Michelin PS4s. Comfort is good and road noise is very minimal. Overall these tires are a really good road tire. I didn¿t take my R to a track but I drive really aggressively in the Colorado mountains and these tires held up really well.

I am amazed at the grip, handling, and ride-noice comfort these tires offer...

I purchased my Type R on July 5th, 2017. I ave this car as my daily driver. With 16 miles on the speedo I hit a heavy rain storm driving from Chicago and these tires had no difficulty in wet weather. In dry conditions these tires can be classified in two words: "Lint Rollers". You know those infomercials where people are brushing cats and dogs with the latest and greatest pet groomer? Welcome to the Continental Sport Contact 6! It will pick up used gum, rocks of all sizes and especially your favorite gravel mixture. When you start your journey they pick up everything on the road surface and sling it onto your paint job. I am in no way being negative. They are sticky! The tread depth is 9/32 new and after 3,600 miles I measured 8/32! Amazing tires. The side walls are incredibly flexible. I saw the reviews about these being 10,000 mile tires, but I think I can get more. Unfortunately you cannot run them on ice and snow below 20 degrees Fahrenheit until they build to temperature. My Type R is a daily driver and I had to purchase 18X9 Rims with Continental DWS 06's to drive in cold or inclement weather in the midwest. I recommend that you follow suit and place your Contact 6's in your home to avoid cracking and damage to the very soft rubber. I am amazed at the grip, handling, and ride-noice comfort these tires offer. Honda and Continental knocked this one out of the park!

At 21,000 miles and not a very aggressive driving style, I am extremely disappointed at the treadlife on these. I was at half tire life by 6k miles. What? That's ridiculous...

At 21,000 miles and not a very aggressive driving style, I am extremely disappointed at the treadlife on these. I will NEVER buy continental again. I was at half tire life by 6k miles. What? That's ridiculous. Against enthusiast recommendations I am going for Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 to hopefully get away from this treadlife issue. STAY AWAY from these tires - doesn't matter how powerful your car is. Even without abuse these tires will whittle away by 10k miles. I'm on my 3rd set of tires now and I've had the car 15 months. I made the mistake of buying these again at the dealers recommendation. I can't stress this enough - STAY AWAY.

...The tread wear is not very good. The tires come with a clear warning that they may not last longer than 10,000 miles (it is understood that this means under regular use. Cars that require or call for this pedigree of tire aren't usually driven gently)...

I believe the tires to be top tier tires. If money was no object, I'd probably replace with these Continentals or Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Though Europe may make the best tires in the world, America and North Korea make very good tires for much less. The Continentals are quiet, have great grip, and great handling characteristics. The tread wear is not very good. The tires come with a clear warning that they may not last longer than 10,000 miles (it is understood that this means under regular use. Cars that require or call for this pedigree of tire aren't usually driven gently) At over $1200 a set, there are just smarter choices. Conversely though, it and the comparable Michelins are probably the best street tires in the world.
