The VikingContact 7 is Continental's Studless Ice & Snow winter tire developed for drivers of sedans, crossovers, coupes and minivans looking for enhanced winter confidence through advanced technology. Designed to deliver excellent traction in wintertime slush, snow and ice plus reliable wet performance and secure dry-road handling, the VikingContact 7 is optimized for a variety of winter weather.
The specialized Nordic compound of the VikingContact 7 utilizes canola oil to remain flexible and adapt to snowy or icy conditions, and active grip silica enhances wet performance and braking. The compound is molded into an intelligent pattern with a groove network designed to create a direct path to evacuate water and slush from beneath the contact patch. The optimized void ratio ensures there is always a high volume of rubber on the road for confident tracking and high-speed control. Solid linkages and special interlocked block bridges stabilize the tread pattern while also keeping grooves open for water and slush drainage. The VikingContact 7's 3D sipes feature varying thicknesses. While all the sipes create biting edges for grip in slippery conditions, the wider sipes form snow pockets that collect snow from the surface and hold it in the pattern, creating snow-to-snow traction for improved performance. Grip Edges on the outside of the tread blocks grab into snow and effectively increase the contact area of the tire, further enhancing traction on snow- and ice-covered roads.
VikingContact 7 Studless Ice & Snow tires meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

...Compared to winter tires I've used on previous vehicles these also have the best wet grip, providing confident handling in changing road conditions...
I'm very happy with the VikingContact 7 on the F-150. The ride comfort, noise levels, and steering feel are remarkably similar to the OE tires on this vehicle. For road manners this is the best winter tire I have ever experienced, with negligible compromise in comfort or steering precision.
Snow traction is excellent as expected and these tires feel exceptionally stable with none of the squirm on center I have experienced on other snow tires in this size. Traction is good enough I have not needed to engage 4WD at all so far this winter.
Compared to winter tires I've used on previous vehicles these also have the best wet grip, providing confident handling in changing road conditions. Overall I'm very happy with this tire selection.

Customers overwhelmingly rate the VikingContact 7's winter traction as excellent, with most snow and ice grip scores between 9-10. High marks highlight confident handling in deep snow and icy conditions, though a few note slightly lower ice performance. Exceptional winter capability for demanding scenarios.

...They have made my model Y super stable in the snow... These tires have no trouble with deep snow or ice. They have allowed me to drive through stuff that SUVs and trucks could not with lesser tires...
Great snow tire. They have made my model Y super stable in the snow. We live on a steep dirt road. These tires have no trouble with deep snow or ice. They have allowed me to drive through stuff that SUVs and trucks could not with lesser tires. Could not be happier with them.

These tires provide excellent traction during Winter in Minnesota in light snow as well as several inches of snow. I would not be able to drive my Z in Winter without snow tires, and these are the best that I have experienced so far.

...I've never gotten stuck, even starting uphill on 5 inches of unplowed snow or uphill on icy roads...
Best snow tires ever! Having never used snow tires in the past I have no comparisons, but these are amazing. Even with low profile tires on my Fusion, snow is no match for these! I drive in Western NY a lot so we get lake effect snow regularly in the winter and I've never gotten stuck, even starting uphill on 5 inches of unplowed snow or uphill on icy roads. When it's dry out these tires handle like my Goodyear touring tires, yet are so much softer through bumps. They're immaculately quiet too. Cannot reccomend these enough, 110% buying them agaim when my set wears out.

...Steering is somewhat vague on center but predictable and balanced off center - overall dry handling is good for a snow tire...
The VikingContact 7 has excellent snow traction and handling balance as promised. The biggest surprise has been the excellent ride quality, the plushness and damping of this tire transformed my GTI's ride quality to luxury car smooth. Steering is somewhat vague on center but predictable and balanced off center - overall dry handling is good for a snow tire. Wear has been good for the first 10,000 miles, much better than the Bridgestone Blizzak WS80 I previously had on the GTI.

I could accelerate pretty hard and corner relatively briskly in the Alltrack without slipping...
I now have one Wisconsin winter on these tires after installing them in October, 2020. It's early March now and the snow is melting, so I'll summarize my experience. Don't expect any further "surprises". Still, you never know... We live in southern Wisconsin, but are building a house in northern Wisconsin, so I've put nearly 5K miles on them in about 5 months. Snow and mud (took them north hunting once, too) were no problem. When we started to get some real snow, both north and south, I found myself trying to see what the tires could handle. I could accelerate pretty hard and corner relatively briskly in the Alltrack without slipping. Braking was good, too. I can't really say it was like driving on dry pavement, but it seemed like it, and exceeded my expectations, and that's based on other winter tires on our cars over the years. These tires on a VW Alltrack are a terrific combination! Would I purchase these tires again? I already did - bought them for my wife's Subaru Forester. Guess I'll also put in a review for that car and our experiences with it (spoiler alert - also good).

...Very comfortable, responsive, and confidence inspiring...
These tires have been fantastic in the winter. Very comfortable, responsive, and confidence inspiring. They've excelled at everything from ice autocross on frozen lakes to driving through gnarly blizzards to commuting to work. I would buy these again in a heartbeat. (They replaced a set of Blizzak WS70 tires. Those were also fantastic in the snow/ice, but I think the VikingContacts have been better on dry pavement).

...Good Tread wear and still in excellent condition when I sold the car with them...
Ran these for 2 winter seasons on my subaru imprezza. These are great snow tires. From slush, ice, & snow covered roads to deep unplowed lanes I never had any issues. Driven on for roughly 12k miles.(maybe more idk??) Good Tread wear and still in excellent condition when I sold the car with them. Would definitely buy these again

...Tire wear is another great quality as I have approximately 5 thousand miles (about 2 winters) on these tires and all 4 are still at 10/32nds of tread...
To start this review, I have experienced several sets of tires over the past 5 years. They are as follows Bridgestone Blizzak WS80, Firestone Winterforce 2, Michelin X-iCE xi3, General Altimax Artic 12, Continental WinterContact SI. I consider myself to be a tire aficionado.
The VikingContact 7s are hands down the best winter tire I have used to date. In terms of normal driving in the dry and wet, you would never guess these are winter tires as they are whisper quiet and don't seem to dramatically sacrifice dry and wet traction like other winter tires I have used. Tire wear is another great quality as I have approximately 5 thousand miles (about 2 winters) on these tires and all 4 are still at 10/32nds of tread.
Where these tires really shine compared to many other winter tires struggle is with slush. These tires will cut right through slush and really seem to resist slush-planing very well. A good comparison for slush performance would be the Michelin x-Ice that had next to zero traction in these conditions. In terms of light snow, these tires will cut right through it with no drama. As the snow gets deeper these tires still maintain fantastic grip to a point (obviously they are not immune to the laws of physics). I will describe it as you have to be careful, but will never be white knuckled. I can't say that I've had any memorable experience with ice with these tires, which tells me they do a good job in it because it is very likely that I have encountered it in western PA.
One of my favorite traits to these tires is that they warn you before you are about to loose traction and allows you to adjust before something bad happens. Most of the other winter tires I have used just seem to loose traction with no warning.
I'd buy these tires again in a heartbeat.

...So far these tires have provided great traction with absolute minimal tire wear...
Well worth the money. These Conti's provide performance and, just as importantly, confidence and safety for driving in winter conditions. So far these tires have provided great traction with absolute minimal tire wear. It's been only a few thousand miles of driving around the Denver Metro area with quite a few ski trips up I-70, but so far so good.
What these tires have provided more than anything is peace of mind. The last thing I want to think about while I'm waiting for an hour during a blizzard at the Eisenhower Tunnel watching the snow plows clear the highway is if I'm going to get stuck or slide off the highway on the other side of the tunnel.
If you regularly drive in winter conditions definitely make the investment in winter tires. And if you're looking for a great winter tire, get these Continental Viking Contact 7.
