Customers praise wet traction with most scoring 9s and 10s, highlighting confident wet braking and hydroplaning resistance. A few note slightly reduced grip in heavy rain (scores 7-8), but overall performance aligns well with all-season expectations.

...Being how these are on our family hauler, wet weather driving is always a concern, and this tire did great, hydroplaning was controlled with sure wet gripping...
This set of Cooper Discoverer SRX's is the second set of tires on our Pilot, replacing the original tires (Michelin Primacy's) at 38K and are now at 73K miles. Overall the tires have performed extremely well. Being how these are on our family hauler, wet weather driving is always a concern, and this tire did great, hydroplaning was controlled with sure wet gripping. Living in far western Maryland we average 80+ inches of snow, and again for an all-season tire, the snow traction was very good. Through the life of these tires as they wore down, they continued to perform as designed. Now for the disappointing point, as others have noted with this tire, at 35K miles they are down to the wear bars and are getting replaced this week. I have had many different tire brands through the years and am generally a fan of Cooper products, I like how they handle just wish these would have lastest closer to the stated warranty rating.

...They also do really well in the rain...
This is our second set of these tires on the same type of vehicle. When it came time to replace the factory tires, my wife insisted we get these as she really liked the previous set she had on a prior vehicle we traided in. These tires provide great traction in snow whether just a light dusting or deep. They have great bite in icy conditions as well. They also do really well in the rain. They are a bit stiffer and noisier than the factory set, but very much worth it considering the benefits.

Customers praise strong snow and deep snow performance with most scoring 8-10, while ice traction shows mixed results (some 0-6). High scores highlight reliable winter handling, though a few note challenges on icy surfaces.

I bought these Cooper Discoverer SRX tires as replacement for Michelin LTX (which I considered the gold standard). These Cooper Discoverer SRX were less expensive. I purchased them in November in Colorado and immediately found myself on snowy roads, hard packed ice and highway driving at high speeds in several inches of falling snow. I was amazed at the performance of the tires in these snowy conditions, it was like the snow wasn't even there. I had someone slide through their red light and stop right in front of my lane of travel and I had to slam on the brakes right at the part of the intersection where it was packed to solid ice. The tires still slid...I mean you can't stop on pure ice without metal on your tires...but I slid much less and had control and was able to do evasive maneuvers on pure ice and drive around the car that was sitting perpendicular in my lane. They looked pretty scared and I avoided what would have been a T-bone accident between two heavy SUV's. My Lexus GX 470 is not a light vehicle. The tires were quiet all summer.

...Have only recently ( 100,000+ miles in) started to notice loss of traction in snowy conditions...
We put a set of these tires on my Pathfinder 1 year after we bought it, I have been extremely happy with their performance, especially in winter conditions. Have only recently (100,000+ miles in) started to notice loss of traction in snowy conditions. Highly recommend these particular tires and I am just getting ready to replace with the exact same model. 7 years of wear and have not had any noticeable problems.

...They are in the snow and in the rain...
I couldn't be happier with this tire. At 20K miles it is probably 30% worn, probably going to get 50K out of this set. They are great in bad weather, no issues at all in the snow and the rain. Dry performance is fine, no complaints. Tread noise is minimal, certainly quieter than my previous tires. I would absolutely buy these again.

...Performance is exceptionally competent. My FX35 corners with far more confidence than I would have anticipated. Dry traction has never caused me to raise an eyebrow...
It is hard to determine how much of my review is tire related and how much is vehicle related, but here we go, anyway. My FX35 had the Cooper SRXs on it when I bought it three and half years ago. They looked fairly new at the time but I have no way to verify that they were new. Since that time, I have added 51k miles onto them. If it were not for the upcoming winter months, I would not be replacing them yet as they still have a couple seasons of tread life left. Needless to say, I have been pleased with the tread wear, especially considering my slightly spirited driving style. The tires have seen a fairly even mix of highway and city driving. They also, on occasion, run on some rough, rocky dirt trails. Performance is exceptionally competent. My FX35 corners with far more confidence than I would have anticipated. Dry traction has never caused me to raise an eyebrow. Wet traction has been nearly as good. Snow & ice... Our roads are fairly well maintained in winter. That said, things are not quite as great as in dry conditions, but performance is what I'd rate as above average for winter conditions based on the vehicles I've had such experience with. Now that the time to replace the tires is approaching, Coopers are what I'm going with. Due to an outstanding price I caught on the Discoverer HT Plus, I will be going that route this time. I am hopeful performance will rival that of the SRX.

...Very sticky and stable tires... They seem to have great traction on pavement and light dirt. I feel very confident driving with these...
I waited a few months before I reviewed these tires. After 2,500 miles I found the following:
PROS: Very sticky and stable tires. No quality or noise issues at all, they are fairly quiet. They seem to have great traction on pavement and light dirt. I feel very confident driving with these. I bought these tires almost exclusively to get better winter/snow traction and I will update the review once winter arrives. Also, they are good looking tires after detailing my car and using ArmorAll on them.
CONS: Loss of 2.5 to 3 MPG on road trips. I take 240 mile, mostly highway trips very consistently every 2 weeks. On the previous OEM Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus tires I was seeing between 22.5 to 22.9 MPG on these road trips. In the 5-6 trips since I changed to the Cooper tires I am now seeing between 19.5 to 20 MPG on the same trips under the same conditions. Not impressed by that and it is going to cost me ~10% more in fuel costs.
MISC: The tires do lose tire pressure when the temp drops. At 75 degrees (F) I set the tires to 44 PSI. During road trips they go up to 46-47 PSI. When the temp drops to below 40 degrees (F) the tire pressures drop to around 40 PSI. This is not necessarily a bad thing for winter because a lower pressure means more of the tire is contacting the road for better traction.
I am not sure if I would buy these tires again because of the poor MPG after installing them, but I am stuck with them for a few years in any case. If they have better traction in winter than the previous Bridgestone Ecopia tires than I will be ok with the purchase, but if they are the same then I should have just stuck with the OEM tires.

Tires can be noisy when they get 35000 miles on them. I have 47000 miles and down to 3/32. Getting another pair of srx on the vehicle again. At 3/32 the tire got me through 8-10" of snow on the road. SUVs eat tires and to get 47000 miles is very impressive. Always felt safe with these tires

...They still look like new (keep them rotated/inflated properly)... They last a long time/ wear well...
I bought these tires 2 years ago. They still look like new (keep them rotated/inflated properly). They handle great. They ride great. And, they are pretty much like any tire come winter/ice. They are not going to keep you from sliding on ice/slush. You need to have a brain when you drive in these types of conditions. Adjust your driving speed/etc. accordingly. Having AWD/4x4 helps. But, typically, 2 wheel drive is sufficient. I would recommend these tires to anyone. This is my 3rd/4th set of Coopers. They last a long time/wear well.
One time while on vacation, I had a Harley guy come up and shake my hand at a gas station parking lot. I asked him what this was for? He said for buying/riding with Cooper (SRX) tires, and keeping him in a job. For, he worked in the Tupelo,MS plant. These SRX's had recently come out. I thought that was pretty cool. I will continue to buy Cooper tires until I have issues with them (which I don't see happening). I wanted to buy the same tires for my wife's 2015 Dodge Journey R/T, but it only had 19,500 miles on it. And, I'm not made of money. But, her current tires (Kumho Solus KH16's) are worthless in wet/snow/slush. So, it will probably have them on it in the near future. Or, maybe some of the WSC winter tires?
