The Discoverer STT PRO is Cooper's Off-Road Maximum Traction light truck tire developed for the drivers of pickup trucks, Jeeps and SUVs who want confident, go-anywhere traction without sacrificing on-road performance. The Discoverer STT PRO is designed to provide impressive off-road capability combined with acceptable levels of on-road traction and civility.

Beginning with a robust, chip- and tear-resistant compound, the Discoverer STT PRO is molded into an aggressive, high-void tread pattern. Deep starting tread depths and alternating cleats and scoops in the shoulder lugs enhance traction in mud and other soft terrain, and mud release dimples help the tire self-clean. Anti-stone retention ribs at the base of the tread grooves eject small rocks to assist with preventing punctures due to stone drills. Wide lateral and circumferential channels aid hydroplaning resistance, and in-block siping creates additional biting edges for improved grip in slippery conditions.

The Discoverer STT PRO utilizes Cooper's Armor-Tek3 Construction technology, which features a robust, three-ply polyester casing to improve puncture resistance. Two wide, strong steel belts support the tread and are reinforced by a single nylon cap ply.

While Off-Road Maximum Traction tires, which are often called mud tires, are branded with the M+S symbol and able to churn through deep snow, their typical oversize applications and the relative absence of snow-biting sipes in their large lugs can challenge their on-road wintertime traction on packed snow and icy surfaces.

Customers Say

Drivers consistently rate the Cooper Discoverer STT PRO as outstanding for dry traction (9-10 scores) and deep snow performance, with strong off-road grip on rocks and mud. Wet traction earns consistent 8-10 ratings, though a few note reduced ice traction (3-5 scores in some reviews). Winter capabilities shine in deep snow, while treadwear receives praise for durability in rugged use despite some reports of faster wear. Comfort scores highly for ride quality, though noise levels split opinions-many accept it as a trade-off for off-road performance. Ideal for enthusiasts prioritizing maximum traction over pavement refinement.

...Rock crawling mixed with wet mud on a 45 deg. incline...didn't even break traction with them aired down to 15psi...

I had a set of (5) 37/11.5/R17's on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Rubicon for 45,000+ miles (all 5 rotated every 10,000 miles) in every terrain South Louisiana can through at them. I also made a 3000 mile trip to Gatlinburg, TN to Buffalo, NY then back to New Orleans, LA in 5 days and they preformed flawlessly. These tires are amazing! Quietest road noise of any mud tire out there! They handle exceptional on road in daily driving, my 21 mile (one way) trip to and from work on highway was a Brees. The city roads and even the extreme pot holes on the streets of downtown New Orleans felt non-existent. The Off Road traction and capabilities of these tires are outstanding! Rock crawling mixed with wet mud on a 45 deg. incline...didn't even break traction with them aired down to 15psi. You want a tire that will give you (in my opinion) the best multi purpose use daily...Look no further!

NOTE: This was my first ever set of mud tires, didn't really expect to get 45,000 miles. I really should have rotated them much more often...I started to get some vibration in the front end around 35,000 miles. Now, part of this was do to not having adjustable track bars front and rear of my Jeep when I installed the 2" Mopar lift causing ware and tare. The other part was the tire rotation intervals...had I done them every 3,000 miles, I would have prolonged the life of the tires to 60,000 mile easily and prevented some of the ware and tare on the steering components. The uneven ware caused by the lack of rotations made the vibrations and noise in the tires to much.

...They drive well in wet or dry weather, drive well in light snow, drive well in ice and not too noisy for a mud tire...

This is my second set. I got 40,000 miles out of the first set. I love the tires. They look killer on my truck. They drive well in wet or dry weather, light snow, ice and not too noisy for a mud tire. I haven't had it off road. Make sure to rotate often or tires will cup and you will have vibration issues that balancing won't fix. I will continue to buy these again!

The Best tires I have ever had in my life! Cooper Discoverer STT PRO 315/75R-16 is the only tire I will put on a T-100 4x4 truck or my 4x4 Ford Off-road Adventure RV same size. It has been a life saver in the Extreme ice storm to driving in Deep Sand in the summer to look at property's. I drive from Oregon to Arizona and I will not buy any other tire for my OffRoading to Highway Life. My STT's have been rotated on every oil change on both rigs and they still look new. Thank you Cooper Tire for outstanding new tire technology.

...I've driven over snow covered donner summit and never had any trouble with traction...

My second set of the SST Pro's and still am very impressed with the ride comfort, handling in all terrain types, and longevity. Noise is a little loud but that's expected with such an aggressive tire. Constantly get complements on how they look. I got about 55k on my first set. I've driven over snow covered donner summit and never had any trouble with traction. They're on the expensive side but definitely worth the investment.

I run the Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tires on both my personal truck (275/55R20) and my off-road race truck (TORC Pro 2 size LT315/70R17). These are by far the best off-road tires on the market. They can handle every condition thrown at them. I would highly recommend this over any competitor in the market. Race and family fun proven!!

...The good: set up in the configuration I listed above, these tires grip like no other tire I've ever had... Off road traction is exceptional and nothing will stop you as long as you don't high center and you have some form of bottom to grab onto...

I've been running Cooper STT's on my JK for 10 years, I've had 2 sets. I changed my tires out because they dry rotted after 5 years and I was starting a long road trip, didn't want to take the chance even though there was still 4/32 tread left. I run E-rated (10 ply) tires because the shale rock in my area will shred tires and in 10 years I've never had a flat. I have the tire shop sipe the tires to provide extra traction on wet or icy roads, It's worth the extra $10 a tire and makes these tires grip like Velcro to snowy or icy roads.

The good: set up in the configuration I listed above, these tires grip like no other tire I've ever had. They don't get caked up with ice or mud like other tires sometimes do. Off road traction is exceptional and nothing will stop you as long as you don't high center and you have some form of bottom to grab onto. They are relatively quiet for an aggressive off road tire. tread life is exceptional if you rotate your tires regularly. They look great, they perform great and you get your money out of them for sure.

The bad: the tires are significantly heavier than stock and my traction control is slightly more active going around corners at speed. They will dig holes in deep snow and sand so you have to be gentle on the gas pedal or you'll bury yourself. If you don't rotate the tires on a regular basis they will begin to cup and you'll get high speed vibrations, just rotate the tires and that uneven wear goes away. They are very hard on steering stabilizers so you'll likely have to upgrade your stabilizer shock to avoid blowing them out every year.

None of this applies if you buy the cheap C rated (3 ply) tires. I am running Yokohama off road E-rated tires right now because I got them free from a friend...I don't like them, I'm going back to Cooper STT's or ST Maxx.

...These maximum traction tires are superior to those other 2 all terrains... And the traction actually will take you on all terrains.

I've had Goodyear wrangler and bfg t/a ko2 tires. These cooper stt pro tires are far superior. I drive about 10 miles a day on unimproved and un maintained roads and another 10 miles a day on highway. These maximum traction tires are superior to those other 2 "all terrains" . These have good treadlife no chunking of tread like the others. And the traction actually will take you on all terrains.

...These tires are not for the person looking for a smooth and quiet ride... Noisy...but not mud grappler noisy...

This would be my second set of STT PROS. The first set was on my Ram 2500. These tires are not for the person looking for a smooth and quiet ride. I have had no balancing issues with these tires. They look amazing on my truck in my opinion. They are awesome offroad and in the mud. Even when not in 4wd. Really good in the snow. Noisy.......but not mud grappler noisy. I think the good out weighs the bad here. Besides the noise I love these tires but feel they are more at home on an HD truck. My 2 cents. Thanks for reading.

...Not as noisy as I expected and on road manners were as expected, good but not great... 55 rear and 45 front seemed to work best for me, less cupping in the front and smoother ride overall...

Excellent off road tire for warm climates. Very durable and almost no damage to any of the tread blocks after 15,000 miles. Not as noisy as I expected and on road manners were as expected, good but not great. Tread wear was less than expected, less than 20,000 miles to burn up a set on a 2500 Cummins. Rotate every 5,000 miles or you will get bad cupping on the front. My truck recommended tire pressure is 80 rear and 60 front. Cooper recommended these at 70 rear and 50 front. 55 rear and 45 front seemed to work best for me, less cupping in the front and smoother ride overall. Terrible ice and snow tire. The truck would not move in 2 wheel drive with any amount of hard pack or powder snow. Bought snow tires immediately after the first snow. I did some towing with these tires, nothing more than 10,000 lbs, and they did well, stable and responsive. The looks are amazing and the tracks left behind in soft ground are cool to look at, but don't buy these if you live in snow country. Utah, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Georgia, Alabama, or any place really where it does not snow, these tires would be great.

...I have put 45,000 on these bad boys and i still have 10.5/32 of tread left...

Tires looks are second to none! Best looking tire for a truck period. Tire is used for mainly daily driving with the idea of weekend warrior and some. For a daily driver, it's not a bad at all for an off-road tire. I'd say the biggest sacrifice you need to consider when purchasing this tire is how much do you value quite ride and comfort? Highly recommended running what the vehicle manufacture tire pressure specs are in these tires. Place I had install the tires recommended me to run these at 55psi . After a year i decided to put it back to 32psi and what a difference!! I have put about 45,000 on these bad boys and i still have 10.5/32 of tread left. If you like compliments buy these tires!!

...Wear has not been noticeable in the 4000 miles I have driven them...

I have been very happy with these tires. I drive mostly highway to work but try to get off road on the weekend as much as possible. Noise on the highway is noticeably louder than stock which is to be expected. They are quieter so far than I expected with the size of the lugs. The off road performance has exceeded my expectations. I have done mostly hardpack, sand, and light mud. I have not encountered a situation where I was disappointed with traction. I plan on replacing these with the same tire again. Wear has not been noticeable in the 4000 miles I have driven them. I usually air down to around 15psi when I hit the dirt. I have these paired with some method 702 wheels so I will be trying to air down a little bit more at a time to see how they perform at a lower pressure.
