Just purchased these tires last week. Haven't had an opportunity to drive these tires in severe conditions just yet. On dry and wet pavement these tires are excellent with outstanding corning grip and are very quiet. Will review again in spring. This product is a winner so far.

With only 6000 miles, so far so good. These tires seem to be top notch with my experience in normal weather. The only problem I had was in Feb. I was driving in very cold weather in Tenn. and had a traction scare on a rainy, iced bridge. Lost traction on a straight road (interstate), and thankfully, a very short bridge, but I can't put all the blame on the tires. Although slowing down considerably, I was probably still driving a little too fast for the conditions. Ice is ice and I don't care what kind of tires you have, without chains, you're going to lose traction. So with that said, I give these tires an excellent rating and would buy them again.

...Handle great at high speeds, even in the rain.

Great tires so far. Handled great in the Chicago Blizzard this year. Never once got stuck, even after all 2 1/2 fell. They do have a little road noise, but I expected that. I get about 19mpg hwy, 3mpg less than the stock BFG Long Trails (265/75/16). Handle great at high speeds, even in the rain.

...Great ride and Winter traction...

I have owned many differnt AT tires over the years. These are one of the best. Road noise is almost none even with 285's. I went one size up. Great ride and Winter traction. Wearing great at 20k. Fantastic look. I will put a set on our Jeep Grand Cherokee in the future. Firestone tires...U.S.A. !!

...minimal tread left I have had no problems in the snow which we have had plenty of this year. I do have 4x4 and every week go skiing in the White Mts...

This is the second and only set of Destination LEs I have had on this vehicle. The first set had 90,000 miles on when I replaced them. They were at the wear bars so I probably should have replaced them at 85K like I am going to do on this second set. These have been great tires. Even with minimal tread left I have had no problems in the snow which we have had plenty of this year. I do have 4x4 and every week go skiing in the White Mts, These are such a great tire but I am thinking of switching to the Destination AT for a little more aggressive tread. In reading other reviews I cannot understand how other people get less than 45K miles on these tires. Even driving aggressively you should get at least 60K. Again, a great long life tire and highly recommend.

...No slipping on ice or water. Perfect traction all thru the winter and we got a lot of snow this year...

Excellent! Bought these because of the reviews. I've owned 22 cars and trucks and gone thru many different tires. These are the best. No hydroplaning even in the heaviest rain, no slipping on ice or water. Perfect traction all thru the winter and we got a lot of snow this year. I put on about 35-40K miles a year. I will buy these as long as they're made. No question about it.

After suffering through way too many miles on a set of OEM Goodyear Eagle LS no traction tires (even on dry pavement) I bought a set of Firestone Destination A/T's. The difference was like night and day. These are great traction tires in rain and snow. Unfortunately, most of my driving is on dry pavement and they are now down to 4/32's tread depth and I will be replacing them before winter. If I did more off highway driving I would buy another set in a heartbeat, but I am going to replace these with Michelin LTX M/S2 highway all season's. I rally liked the Firestone's.

...Dry traction seems really good but the real test came with the first big snow...

Replaced Goodyear Wrangler A/T's and the noise difference was incredible. Initially thought I could here the tires pretty good but then realized that it was the motor I was hearing, not the tires...could barely here the tires. The Goodyears were LOUD. Dry traction seems really good but the real test came with the first big snow. Got to work in the morning without a problem. Got such good traction I was actually looking for more snow drifts to bust through. It was actually fun! Traction in wet, packed snow was awesome too. Pulling out from stop light I actually got some "wheel hop" because I was trying to get the wheels to spin and they really didn't want to. Only time I got them to really lose traction was around corners. To say I am impressed is an understatement. Don't know what mud or off-road traction is like yet, but spring is coming! I don't think I'll be disappointed. Great tire so far!

...My wife and I share the vehicle and we both love the ride quality and comfort...

I bought this vehicle with the tires already on it and these are some of the best tires I've ever had for all around daily use. My wife and I share the vehicle and we both love the ride quality and comfort but, at the same time I've thrown a lot of mother nature at these tires and they have out performed my expectations time and time again. I would highly recommend these tires for anyone wanting true all terrain traction.

...Ride Comfort--great on road manners, relatively quiet, good steering response... At this point, there is a noticable increase in ride noise and harshness, but wet and dry traction appear minimally changed from new...

This review is written with 61K miles in 34 months, about 2/3 highway miles and the rest city miles (which here in Chicago might at well be considered mild off-road conditions). There are occasional off-pavement forays on midwestern farm and forest roads, but no extreme terrain. I purchased the vehicle with 90K miles and put new Bilsteins and rubber on at the same time.

I will be replacing the tires within 3 months, so I have new rubber for winter. At 61K miles, there is still substantial tread left for a non-snowy climate, but that's not where I drive. At this point, there is a noticable increase in ride noise and harshness, but wet and dry traction appear minimally changed from new.

Pros:

Value--spectacular performance and wear for the money

Snow Traction--both light and heavy snow are no problem

Ride Comfort--great on road manners, relatively quiet, good steering response

Toughness--after some gruesome pothole encounters both in the city and on the highway, I can assure you that these tires offer a high level of immpact protection

Cons:

Cold Traction--on both wet and dry pavement, there is a noticeable drop in traction below 30F. My expectation was better performance than delivered in "all season" tires. Driving habits had to change when the temps dropped. Too easy to break tires loose under heavy acceleration in the cold with my vehicle's torque.

After 30 years of driving a variety of light trucks and SUVs, I bought my first ever set of Firestones b/c of the ratings on Tire Rack and the price point well below Michelin. A big "thank you" to the Tire Rack customer base for pointing me in the right direction--these tires far exceeded expectation for both value and comfort. I intend to drive this 4Runner into the ground, and expect my next set of Destination A/T's will not be the last.

...60,000 miles is aweome and I could go 5000 more...

A great tire. Great traction in the snow and ice. My Xterra is like a mtn goat and these tires work perfectly. They balance great, never a wobble unless the tire tech did a crummy job. I would just go back and have them re- balanced. 60,000 miles is aweome and I could go 5000 more. I paid 475 on a buy 3 get one deal and I couldn't be happier. Now if they will just put them on sale again I will pick up a new pair

Incredible tire. I have never had a tire get over 85000 miles on treadwear. I will definitely buy this tire again. The traction with these tires off road is incredible. I have been able to cross ditches, handle steep inclines, and cross rocky terrain. I have not had to deal with heavy mud but I would not hesitate with these tires. On paved roads, I have been very impressed with these tires with the ride and the comfort level. I would highly recommend these tires.

...The treadwear is great, and although I had one flat (Piece of Metal), they hold up well.

This is my second set of these tires. I like the tire, but they get noisy after they are half-worn out. The humming noise is agravating. The aggressive tread looks imposing, but in deep snow they are not what you would expect. I hit the ditch last year and there was only a little snow on the road. The treadwear is great, and although I had one flat (Piece of Metal), they hold up well.
