The Destination M/T2 is Firestone's Off-Road Maximum Traction tire designed for the drivers of Jeeps, pickup trucks, full-size SUVs and dedicated off-road vehicles looking for a tire with capability that backs up its rugged looks.
Utilizing a chip- and tear-resistant rubber compound molded into an aggressive, high-void pattern, the Destination M/T2 is designed to travel far from the beaten path. Taking lessons learned from Firestone's extensive experience designing tires for agricultural use, the tread blocks feature 23 degree attack angles for optimum pulling power on loose surfaces. Its serrated upper sidewall lugs are more aggressive than those on the previous Destination M/T to provide improved side bite for traction in soft terrain, and the mud and stone ejectors between the tread blocks clear debris from the tread to prevent damage from stone drills. Compared to its predecessor, a 20% increase in the number of biting edges improve traction on wet, slippery surfaces and in the snow.
The internal construction of the Destination M/T2 is designed for durability, with three polyester casing plies intended to improve resistance to punctures, and two high-strength steel belts with a nylon reinforcement to stabilize the tread.
Destination M/T2 tires are pinned to accept optional metal studs to increase ice traction.

Testing Off-Road Maximum Traction Tires 2021: Firestone Destination M/T2 (2:21)
The Firestone Destination M/T2 is built for extreme, off-road capabilities, but finds itself up against several front-runners from the category in a test to find out how they perform on the street between adventures.
Owners report excellent dry traction (9-10 ratings) and confident off-road performance in mud, rocks, and deep snow. Wet traction earns consistent praise (7-10 range), with reliable grip in rain and slippery conditions. Winter traction shows strength in deep snow (frequent 10s), though ice performance varies (7-9 scores). Treadwear impresses for a mud-terrain tire, with many noting durability across rugged use. Ride comfort receives mixed feedback: off-road stability and impact absorption earn 7-10 scores, but road noise (4-6 ratings) is a common tradeoff. Buyers prioritize its off-road capability over refinement, calling it a "beast" for technical trails and overlanding.

...The only weakness I have noticed is as with any MT tire they are prone to hydroplane but this was only when it was raining hard and I was going about 70mph...
I'm very pleased with these Firestones so far. When I was looking for tires for my 4Runner I did research for about a month and decided to go with the MT2s. My research payed off. These are hands down the best off road tire I've owned. They are surprisingly quiet for an off road tire and they handle great on the highway. I've thrown everything at this tire including mud, sand, gravel, and rock climbing to these tires and they have held up great I'm very impressed. The only weakness I have noticed is as with any MT tire they are prone to hydroplane but this was only when it was raining hard and I was going about 70mph. I haven't had a chance to test them in any snow yet but I'm looking forward to it. I expect good treadlife as well based on the other reviews. Give this tire a shot you won't be disappointed!

...They STRONGLY resist hydroplaning in deep snow and slush at highway speeds and provide great directional control and braking on hard packed snow and ice. These things are monsters in winter conditions!...
I've had these on my Sequoia for about 5500 miles and have driven them around town, on the highway, deep and shallow snow, mud, rocks, sand and dirt, and they're the best all around MT tire I've had in nearly 20 years of using this type of tire. The snow and ice performance surprised me the most- it's comparable to an older snow tire. I live on a very steep road and have a very steep driveway, and am able to back out of my driveway and drive up the road in 2WD with a dusting or a foot of snow on the ground. They STRONGLY resist hydroplaning in deep snow and slush at highway speeds and provide great directional control and braking on hard packed snow and ice. These things are monsters in winter conditions! Off road, I run 13 PSI and between these tires, the ATRAC system and my rear locker, I have never been left for want of traction. Truthfully, if I could run low range in 2WD, that's all I'd need for most of the wheeling I do. Their noise level, or lack thereof is equally surprising. They're only *slightly* louder than the highway tires that were on the truck when I bought it. Again, comparable to snows in their noise. Dry street performance is good, but I drive it as if it's a truck, not a sports car. If you're buying a mud tire for the looks with no intentions of ever using it, get the cheapest one you can find or with whatever tread pattern blows your skirt up. But if you want a mud tire that will be more than just functional in all conditions, these guys are the ticket. I will continue to buy these until they wear the molds out.

...Good on wet, on dry, on light snow, and on ice...
Bought these as the last set of Nitto tires were unevenly. I believe that to be due to the heaviness of my truck and low max tire pressure of 35 psi on those. The ride on these is firm. Noise level not much higher than my nittos. Cornering is not bad as long as the psi is above 65psi. Good on wet, dry, light snow, and ice. May buy them again but not 100% sure.

Customers praise winter traction in snow and deep snow with most scoring 9s-10s. Ice traction shows variability, with some ratings 0-6 but others 7-8. High scores align with off-road intent.

...Just did a trip over 2 mountain passes on packed snow/ice and couldn't pass up the opportunity to test it in the deep stuff. Easily cleared snow in 12 to 14 inches, with some mud at the bottom...
Having run most of the popular M/T's out there including the prior Destination MT, I'm quite thrilled with this tire's performance. My driving is a mix of highway, dirt roads, and occasional severe winter travel. My biggest complaint with the prior Firestone MT is that the rubber seemed incredibly hard and although good for longevity, performed poorly in winter conditions. Without naming names, I've run some tires that did great in winter, but were incredibly noisy and didn't last very long. I've run some MT's that wore like iron but bounced all over the road at highway speeds. The last set I had were the quietest, best handling MTs I'd come across but the price tag was near impossible to digest. This new Firestone M/T comes with more tread new than any tire I've seen before, 22/32 of an inch. I almost have 4500 miles on them and my guage shows 21/32 front and 20/32 rear, prior to rotation. They are not the quietest but certainly not the loudest, and they have excellent road manners. The price was completely reasonable for a set of 4. Just did a trip over 2 mountain passes on packed snow/ice and couldn't pass up the opportunity to test it in the deep stuff. Easily cleared snow in 12 to 14 inches, with some mud at the bottom. I should also mention that they are very stable under load, I'm not concerned with tires wandering when I have the truck and trailer loaded. The "23 degree rake" is somewhat misleading as the tires actually had varying sizes and degrees of center lugs. Overall I am thrilled with the tire's looks and performance. It will be no surprise to me to start seeing these all over the place.

...Just got hit with over a foot of snow, they work great in shallow or deep. I commute an hour each way daily, and these tires do not miss a beat...
This tire so far is fantastic. I have owned Dayton Timberline M/T, Firestone Destination M/T, and way back when BFG M/T in 33X9.5 R15, on a 92 Mazda B2600i 4X4. Having just switched from two sets of Cooper AT/3, this tire is a welcome change. Here in Northeast OH, we get a pretty good mix of driving conditions. Just got hit with over a foot of snow, they work great in shallow or deep. I commute an hour each way daily, and these tires do not miss a beat. The new tread compound, along with added siping, makes the MT/2 a great contender in this category. You will not be disappointed. And the price is also great, mine were made right here in the USA.

...The tires look great, have great dry traction and very little noise, but have absolutely no traction in rainy weather...
Unfortunately, these are the most dangerous tires I have ever owned. I purchased these tires at a local Firestone store and have put approx 20,000 miles on them in about 18 months and have about 1/2 inch of tread left. The tires look great, have great dry traction and very little noise, but have absolutely no traction in rainy weather. This loss of traction started around 15,000 miles and has gotten progressively worse. I can't maintain traction, even at low speeds, fishtail in curves, and my traction control light is constantly activated. I have owned many tires in my 50 something years and these are by far the worst. These tires have become completely unsafe and I will replace them as soon as possible. I also purchased a set for my son several months ago, and he has only slight tractions problems in wet weather so far, but I will have to replace his too. Beware!

...They are very gripy at first but after a couple hundred mile they settled down...
I just finished upgrading my suspension and I was looking for good performing MT tires. I was going back and forth with BFG, GY, and Yoko tires and I settled for these. They are very gripy at first but after a couple hundred mile they settled down. I am very pleased on how they performed on and off road and they have a very nice ride for a MT tire.

...They were replacements for a set of open country toyos and immediately I loved aggressive the look. I bought them during the summer months and had no issues with ride quality or noise (despite me expecting them to be loud)...
These tires are on my daily use truck that I occasionally take off roading. They were replacements for a set of open country toyos and immediately I loved aggressive the look. I bought them during the summer months and had no issues with ride quality or noise (despite me expecting them to be loud). Off-road, they stood up to everything I threw at them. Deep mud and sand was no problem. Nice deep treads kept me gripped at all times and kicked out any rocks as soon as I switched back to pavement. I even rolled over a very large & sharp tree stump and thought "There goes that tire :( " but to my surprise they held up! I recently did some snow and ice off-road as well as icy river crossings with a sand base. The story is the same, this tire just holds up. I will be buying this tire again once I run thru this set!

...Road noise is not bad and ride comfort has been good for such a heavy truck.
Since this is a 1 Ton pickup I rotate the tires every 6500 miles. I can't believe how long the tread has lasted. Only about 10K of towing on these tires and some off road. These are primarily driven on highway and back roads. The truck has a safety inspection every 6 months so the tires tread depth is measured every 6 months. Truly a great tire and I will be putting a new set on this Memorial Day 2018. Road noise is not bad and ride comfort has been good for such a heavy truck.

...Started out slightly loud on highway, got extremely loud around 30-35k miles...
Stock tires on a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Willys.
42,500 driving miles, plus about 10k more miles being flat towed behind an RV. Still had more than legal tread left when the vehicle was traded in.
Hard to really rate the dry / cornering aspects, since it wasn't really pushed like a sports car, but the tires never felt like they would be an issue in a corner, compared to the height/weight of the vehicle.
Wet performance was never an issue, including fording deep water and off road mud.
Snow performance was mostly good, but definitely not the same as having dedicated studded snow tires, especially on ice. These could be studded for ice, but they were the year round daily driving tires.
Started out slightly loud on highway, got extremely loud around 30-35k miles.
Probably would buy again, even with the noise.
