General G-MAX AS-07 

I am extremely impressed and pleased with this model of tire. I also have it on my Subaru Legacy. Outstanding wet traction, which is very important to me. I’m in Ohio. I have nothing but good things to say about these, which has surprised me given the price. Definitely recommend! And relatively light weight, and the tread pattern looks good too.

There is no perfect tire for everything and every vehicle but this tire is actually better at the important things. I can embarrass drivers on wet roads and the track. In fact I was told I needed a cage and race spec tire's to return. Official checked tires and told me he thinks i have the snow tire record and he will be checking tires more closely the next time someone just wants to drive the track with a street car. He thought me wearing a helmet was a joke until he saw the lap times. I love to shock people. Isn't spirative driving fun?

This is my second set. They have been great, even have a decent snow capability. The set on my 2004 Aero wagon are about worn out so I'll be buying another set soon.

This vehicles comes with run flats that cost 450ea and last 15k miles. This General tire set is at 32k miles with maybe 10k of tread left. The deeper the snow, the better this tire responds. Great on icy roads. Good on wet roads, but does hydroplane on ponded stretches(never to a loss of control, just a quick movement reacted to immediately by the car). Bear in mind: This is a 5700lb mid size SUV with one of the most sophisticated all time 4wd drive trains. For economic minded owners of AWD/4WD SUV's and small mostly hwy driven trucks THIS IS YOUR TIRE!! Drive safe and enjoy the drive.

I have always loved General Tires every since my Grandfather made them at the factory in Akron Ohio. The name stood for quality and endurance. I bought this set of tires to replace a set of General Tires. I can count on them wearing well and offering a smoother ride. The stability decreases gas mileage and the pressure doesn’t fluctuate significantly when the season changes. This January has started with a Winter punch. The snow has piled up but the deep tread design just rolls through that snow easily. This was the easiest purchase for tires that I ever made. Tire Rack was great. They suggested tires for my make and model car. I picked the ones I wanted and put in the right size, paid and that was it. This was an absolute pleasure and I will do it again for my next purchase.

I am extremely impressed with these tires, particularly for the price. The ride comfort is incredibly smooth, and the noise is quite low. Also, the tread depth seems much greater on these new tires than on previous new sets, such as Perelli’s and Michelin’s. I would definitely buy these again.

After moving back to a Mazda after years with a BMW 128i running Michelin Pilot Sport AS4, General GMAX AS-05, and Continental DWS06+ over 120k miles, I wanted to swap out the OEM wheels and tires for something that would give me confidence in the corners and wouldn't scare me in the rain (the stock Turanzas are pretty terrible if you enjoy driving). I really liked the DWS06 and considered it a slight upgrade over the GMAX AS-05, but wanted to try and keep the tire/wheel upgrade cost down on this order so I went with the GMAX AS-07's this time around.

The combination of these tires and dropping from the OEM 18" wheels down to 17" Sparco Assetto Gara's has really brought the car into it's own. Windy backroads are now a joy to hustle through, the car is incredibly confident in the rain and under braking, and the ride quality has improved. Steering feel and weight is improved with inputs feeling much more precise, and are probably as good as it gets with EPS. The only minor downside is noise at 75mph+. There is a minor low-mid frequency sound after about 1k miles in that has not gotten any louder. It is not annoying, but it is noticeable with the music off. I experienced the same issue with the AS-05s in my BMW, but not with the Continental DWS06s on that car, and consider the noise the only shortcoming.

Minor highway noise aside, the tire is excellent around town on a sporty daily driver and I would readily recommend these to anyone looking to upgrade to something more fun, with the price being a bonus.

The tread wear it’s my favorite thing about these tires. This is my second pair. I have staggered tires so I cannot rotate them. I got nearly 49,000 miles out of the first pair never having rotated them. That’s impressive. Hopefully this pair does the same.

Very well priced for the performance delivered. These tires are very predictable, wet or dry. And that’s very important to me on a high horsepower, rear wheel drive sports sedan. Dry performance is well beyond its class. Steering feedback is exactly what I want and road noise is minimal. My only complaint, and I’m really reaching just to come up with one, would be that these tires are very sticky, especially when dry and warm, and will pick up just about every piece of sand and small gravel they roll over. That being said, the tread wear has held up really well considering just how sticky they are.
