Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The G-MAX RS is General's Ultra High Performance Summer tire designed for the drivers of performance sedans, modern muscle cars, sports cars and sporty coupes looking for bold performance in warm dry and wet conditions. Like all summer tires, the G-MAX RS is not intended to be driven, stored nor serviced in near- or below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

General G-MAX RSA high-performance summer compound is molded into the G-MAX RS's purposeful, directional tread pattern. The solid center rib provides confident on-center feel and aids acceleration and braking, while General's SmartGrip Technology provides crisp steering response and sporty handling. StabiliTread Technology creates a wide contact patch with even pressure distribution to benefit both cornering traction and tire longevity. Wide, angled notches in the intermediate ribs help channel water to the deep circumferential grooves to resist hydroplaning, and along with open shoulder slots create biting edges for traction in slippery conditions.

Internal Construction of the G-MAX RS consists of a single-ply polyester casing. The high-turnup casing improves steering response and results in a two-ply sidewall. Two high-strength steel belts feature a two-ply polyamide reinforcement to further enhance handling, along with providing high-speed capability.

G-MAX RS tires utilizes General's SmartMonitor Technology, with the words "Replacement Tire Monitor" molded into the tire's center rib. When the tire reaches 2/32" remaining tread depth, the Replacement Tire Monitor evolves to read "Replace Tire" alerting the driver the tire has reached the wear bars.

Ultra High Performance Summer tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels, or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Note: Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Ultra High Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. While compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

...Initially had excellent dry grip, great wet traction... once they were down on tread to 5/32" or so, the hydroplaning resistance becomes basically none - had to slow down to 45 in a 75 one rainy evening because they were slipping and sliding all over the place...

These tires were fantastic. I threw my Hemi 300 into 35 MPH-rated curves at 70 and had zero tire squeal and full confidence a few times on them. Initially had excellent dry grip, great wet traction. I did end up having to drive them through one winter due to being short on cash to buy a winter set, and they handled it well.

That being said, once they were down on tread to 5/32” or so, the hydroplaning resistance becomes basically none - had to slow down to 45 in a 75 one rainy evening because they were slipping and sliding all over the place. Sketchy as could be. Replaced them not long after that.

Keep them as summer tires and swap them before the tread hits the wear indicator and you’re golden.

These is a great, under rated tire. Great traction and handling during spirited runs on both wet & dry roads. Braking feels improved and they seem to be wearing very well. Hadn't heard much about these prior to buying, but am very impressed.

...The tire sidewall is firm, and doesn't flex as much under hard cornering as some other tires I've had in the past. I found steering response to be very good, tire growth from tire temperature for the average driver will not be an issue...

Overall the quality of this tire is very good for the price point it is in. The tire sidewall is firm, and doesn’t flex as much under hard cornering as some other tires I’ve had in the past. I found steering response to be very good, tire growth from tire temperature for the average driver will not be an issue. Traction and stability so far seem uniform across concrete or asphalt. I believe these are going to make a good autocross, hpde, and daily tire with my experience on them so far.

...They're responsive, grippy, and the ride is as comfortable as the higher priced tires on the market...

I'm very impressed with the performance of these tires! I found these tires to be a great fit for my BMW 535's sporty handling characteristics. They're responsive, grippy, and the ride is as comfortable as the higher priced tires on the market. Tire noise, wear, and wet traction have been excellent. Highly recommended for a comfortable, relatively quiet high-performance summer tire with excellent grip!

...They are very quiet and comfortable, but also have super good grip...

I’m extremely happy with my General G-Max RS tires after having them for a year now. I would definitely buy them again. They are very quiet and comfortable, but also have super good grip. They also look great on a sports car. Living in Southern California, and the tires being on my third car, I have never driven on them in the wet, so I can’t make a judgement on their performance in wet conditions. I have noticed that if they sit for about a week or more they take a bit of a set and it takes a mile or so for them to get round again.

These tires are fantastic in the rain and definitely better than expected dry...

These are so much better than I expected them to be. For the price I expected to be rather disappointed but have been wildly surprised. Bought these to mount on a set of wheels for daily driving. For comparison, I run RE-71’s for autocross and SC3’s for track days. They will never be the fastest tire out there but they really shine for daily driving and random canyon days. These tires are fantastic in the rain and definitely better than expected dry. I even had to use them for the second half of a track day after cording out my normal tires for that. They still allowed for plenty of predictable fun though obviously off the pace of my track tires. They’ve held up quite well and I’ll be getting another set when they’re finished.

...The treadwear is better on the Gmax than the Pilot sports in real world as indicated by the treadwear rating...

I really like the General G-Max tires. This was my 3rd set. Second set on my Kia Stinger GT and I had a set on my Lexus IS200t before that. I can't really tell any performance difference between these and the factory Michelins Pilot Sports that were on the Stinger from the factory and the G-Max are much less expensive. The treadwear is better on the Gmax than the Pilot sports in real world as indicated by the treadwear rating. Wet and Dry traction are both great. Zero to 60 Launch traction is just as good as the Michelins were. I got about 17k miles on these Gmax with the previous 2 sets (on the Lexus and first set on on the Stinger) with mostly city driving and occasional aggressive driving. Both of the cars I've had them on have staggered wheels so rotating was not an option. If you get these on a car where you can rotate, then you may get more miles out of them.

...Nice price for the treadwear

Not a normal size for a FK8 Type-r but a 275 35 on a 18x9.5 45+ is perfect fit.
500+hp FWD, I'm not nice to these tires and mostly drive highways to work. These hold up to the punishment of everyday driving and the back roads..
Good grip wet and dry
Nice price for the treadwear

I bought these tires back when my car had 25,000 miles 4 years ago. As of 5/2/2022 the car just turned 70,300 miles and the tires still have roughly 15% tread life on them. I will be purchasing these tires again because they exceeded my expectations. Dry grip was never an issue, the 132hp engine was never able to break traction in the dry and only once while on a wet road while making a u-turn. Speaking of wet traction, here in Florida it rains almost year round so puddles on the road are almost unavoidable, these tires never once hydroplaned even with large puddles. Road noise is noticeable especially in a small car like our corolla but it never annoying even on long 10hr road trips, they are certainly alot quiter than the factory Firestone FR740s. Most importantly the Treadwell, the factory tires (FR740) lasted me 25,000 miles, these Gmax RS lasted me over 45,000 miles.

Verdict: I highly recommend these tires to anyone living in the southern states where snow isn't an issue.
