Customers praise the General Grabber A/TX's wet traction, with most scoring 9s and 10s. Hydroplaning resistance also receives high marks, though some note scores between 7-8 in heavy rain.

...Besides a more affordable price, A/TX has better wet traction...
These tires are positioned directly against BFG KO2's. I owned both, and like Generals better. Besides a more affordable price, A/TX has some better wet traction, can be studded (which would improve drastically its otherwise so-so ice traction), and their road noise is lower.
The only complain A/TX is hard to balance, even on RoadForce equipment, but so did KO2. I also have to over-inflate tires slightly to keep shimmy under control on highway speeds, because it seems General has problems with unequal tire wall rigidity.
When I'll be looking for replacement tires, A/TX would be the go-to tires, unless something more appealing is out there.

...The wet traction is very good and snow traction is very good (both slushy and fresh powder)...
I am very pleased so far with the performance of these tires. I am very amazed by how quiet they are for the category. They are just barely louder than all-season tires at >70mph. Anything under highway speeds and they are just as quiet as any other all season i've had. I have owned in the past 2 years, a set of Toyo Open Country AT3s and Falken Wild Peak A/T3Ws in similar size and load rating. These General Grabber A/TXs are significantly quieter than the Toyos and Falkens with the Falkens being the loudest on my vehicle. In my short time with the General's I feel they are more comfortable/give a better ride quality on pavement than the other 2. Wet traction is very good and snow traction is very good (both slushy and fresh powder). Braking on fresh powder causes a little bit of slippage if driving normally (ie driving habits on a dry road), but no problem if driving with the proper caution needed for the road conditions. Ice traction was the same, very acceptable/good with driving with some caution. I haven't had a chance to test their offroad capability yet but I predict they will be perfectly suited to my mild offroading (ie rougher than forest service roads but not quite to full on rock climbing). For reference, the Toyos and Falkens did great and performed equally well for me in mild offroading.
Overall these are my favorite AT tire by far. Amazing ride quality and quietness on road. Very impressed with the SL load rating and how it doesn't feel sloppy at all in turns and roundabouts in my LX with full steel/aluminum skids, bumpers, side steps, etc. pushing just over 7k lbs with me and my gear in it. Pending testing the offroad traction, I will most certainly buy this tire again and again.

...My one gripe is that these tires were squirmy on some Vermont cold wet mountain roads. The rears felt like they were ready to slip out on me, but to be fair, I did see the truck behind me slip a bit and really slow down...
Where to start on these tires? I bought these tires because the Wrangler ATs that were on the truck when I bought were pretty awful. I could not afford the KO2s so I went with these and I was extremely happy. I did NOT buy the E load tire and was saddened by the fact that the standard load tires looked overloaded on my 1500. Standard load General Grabbers have a soft sidewall and deffinitely do not recommend. Despite the fact that the fronts always looked underinflated, I did get very good treadware.
I do drive down gravel roads, dirt roads, mountain hills in cold harsh New England winters, and always a lot of highway driving mixed in as well. These performed EXCELLENT in all conditions (Dry, Wet, Snow, Ice) Big NorEasters hit us hard a couple of years back and I had to take someone to the hospital. The person is doing well. The tires performed great and cut through the 10" unplowed roads with ease. In the parking lot, the plows cleared the driving areas but left the spots PACKED with over 2 feet of snow and my truck plowed right through with no problems. I was surprised that these handled the true deep snow so well.
My one gripe is that these tires were a little squirmy on some Vermont cold wet mountain roads. The rears felt like they were ready to slip out on me, but to be fair, I did see the truck behind me slip a bit and really slow down. Temps were not freezing but I think the cold hardened the compound a little bit.
70,000 spirited miles on these things and its been an amazing trip. At first these tires were very quiet for semi-aggressive tread. Only towards the very end (last 10,000mi) did they pick up a little hum and I've only rotated these tires once! I am not buying these again as I'm going to be lifting my truck and putting on Mickey Thompson Baja (Hybrid MT/AT tires) on next however I do highly recommend these tires as very capable and long lasting tires and would recommend a D or E rated tire for all trucks.

Drove my truck up bald eagle state forest, the road was solid ice and deep snow in the ditches. I passed several stuck Subarus. Im blown away by the grip I had on the ice going up hill. Seriously I had to stop and get out of my truck to pee and I slipped on the road, almost pissed my self, my tires never slipped the whole 3 mile drive over the Mountain. Mind you o was not speeding, just doing 5-7mph in 4H on the upward side. When going downhill I dropped her in 4L and just coasted down the mountain. I 100% trust my life to these tires in ice conditions. As for mud... bring a winch. I got stuck on a slighty muddy hill. Handle great on pavement wet or dry.

...In all dry conditions, handles very well...
This tire is what you should expect from a A/T tire. In all dry conditions, handles very well. Off-road, they sling mud and could probably get you out of most situations. Now that I have almost 30k miles on them, the wet traction has degraded a bit. The tires feel a lot stiffer now. Also road noise has increased quite a bit since they were new. Tread wear so far is great. The only thing I would change is I would not get a E load rated version for a 1500 ever again.I got them cause I tow a lot, and it was a big mistake. Ride quality went out the window. The tires give the truck a nice beefy look and I have the white letters out. Looks great. Overall would recommend.

Through many years of driving on / off road, I have purchased many brands / types of tires. BF. Goodrich, Maxi Track, Firestone, Yokohama , Mickey Thompson's. I find these General Grabbers ATX to be the best overall tires I have ever purchased for all around use. Very good in Mud, Snow, Rain. Very little road noise, and the tread wear is excellent, and the price of these tires are very reasonable. I have 24,000 miles on them with my FJ Cruiser and they still have over 50% of tread left. I will most certainly be purchasing these tires again.

...Love that it is aggressive while not feeling like it is on the highway...
I have had BFGs, Coopers, and Generals before, but this new ATX is really great. Love that it is aggressive while not feeling like it is on the highway. The fact they balanced out without issue and have stayed that way for the 2000 miles on them so far is a good sign. Have experienced most weather conditions so far, very happy with what they have accomplished. Based on their performance so far, they are now my tire of choice.

Going from 32/12.5R20 Ironman MT with over 79k miles to the General Grabber ATX allowed me to enjoy driving my truck again. It is a buttery smooth ride, great steering response and shock absorption. My MPG's increased due to less rolling resistance. The tread depth is huge and I foresee no issues when it snows or becomes icy as they are rated for sever snow service. I had no fitment issues and no rubbing on a stock F150 (no level kit). Although my experience with these tires has been brief thus far, I look forward to see how they perform long-term and in different off road conditions.

...After 20k+ miles, I feel I made a great choice... use a five tire rotation every 6K miles and they still look like new... I do expect to get better than 50K miles out of them!
Bought my stock 2017 Jeep Wrangler 2 door in December of 2020 with 14K miles and the original tires (Goodyear Wranglers). Wanted something rated with the 3 peak snow rating and all terrain chops. After a lot of research, I selected the General Grabber A/TX. A little bit better price point than other competitors and great reviews on tread wear. After 20k+ miles, I feel I made a great choice. Quiet for an all terrain tire, use a five tire rotation every 6K miles and they still look like new, great snow traction and smooth ride. Haven't done much off roading yet (will do more after I retire) but on gravel Iowa farm roads with the consistency of uncle Joes pudding when wet, they have worked fine. Three days ago I had Rancho RS5000 shocks installed and the ride is better yet. I am surprised that a lot of Chevy Truck owners are getting poor tread wear according to the reviews I have been reading but I highly recommend these tires for Jeep owners. I do expect to get better than 50K miles out of them!

...The tread wear is uniform and slow. I think these will last a good number of years and I will get another set once they're toast.
Great Tires for a midsize truck. As first there was looseness and play in the steering. Once the tires settled in I felt the truck was planted and responsive. Fantastic in snow and dry roads! Wet roads felt fine, no slipping on acceleration or high speed turns. One tire will loose air over a few weeks time if not driven, I may need to have it remounted... And one tire came new with white rubbed off or missing on the lettering. Not a deal breaker but I like the look of the white lettering on the outside. The tread wear is uniform and slow. I think these will last a good number of years and I will get another set once they're toast.
