I put Goodyear Fuelmax tires on my Toyota Camry Hybrid. My immedediate response was relief that the Fuelmax also provided a great feel and ride. I was concerned what trade offs I had made with purchasing a new series tire before user reviews were very available. I drive a hybrid and am not looking for sport handling or track performance. These tires feel secure both on wet and dry pavement. The ride and road feel are as good as I have had on any previeous tire, EL-400 on this car and a line of Michelins on other cars. My mileage did not drop a bit, to my surprise. The worn out OEM tires had low roling resistance due to most of the tread being gone. And with most of the tread being gone, you actually get more revs per mile which registers more miles on your odometer. This makes a worn tire appear to get further improved gas mileage. So with the Fuelmax I was thrilled to record the same 42 mpg that I have been getting all summer in my Camry. I really am waiting to see the winter driving performance. I will provide an update as soon I get some winter weather to put them to the test.

Great tire. Comfort oriented, not high-performance, but with the lower aspect-ratio of tires found on most newer cars (55 series on my Maxima) there's less of a sacrifice for a smooth quiet ride-- which is this tires strong point. Road imperfections are smoothed over nicely, and road noise is muted. Overall, very good for this price range. Wet traction is also very secure. Dry traction is strong, as is cornering grip-- though not sporting by any means. I do not measure my fuel economy, nor did I buy this tire for it's benefit, so I cannot comment on that regard. (Though I wouldn't expect a substantial gain if I did. Too many variables in daily driving for this to be a significant statistic.) Tread is wearing evenly, but I rotate every oil change, and ensure proper PSI and alignment. (99% of reviews complaining of uneven wear fail to do this, even if they claim otherwise. Modern name-brand tires wear evenly unless there is user neglect.) Overall, I recommend this tire. The price is good compared to other tires available in low(er) profile sizes for passenger cars, and it delivers a comfortable quiet ride. Made in the USA too!

I had four Cooper CS4 Lifeliners, which was decent tire, on my 2007 Toyota Solara SE Sport V6 when it came time for replacement. I saw the ads for the Assurance Fuel Max, read the reviews and decided to roll the dice and take a chance. These tires are much more quiet than the Coopers and my fuel mileage on the highway went from 34 MPG with the Coopers to 36-37 MPG! My tires are grippy on both wet and dry pavement and they are wearing good so far, considering my commute is about 86 miles (round trip) per day on either highways or rural open roads. Just 500 miles on this tire so far. Bought these on short notice while on vacation. Had a belt break on the old set of Yokohama Avids. So far, just dry pavement driving as we didn't see any rain to speak of on our way home. Replaced an H-rated tire with this T-rated tire--still trying to judge whether there's much of a difference. The tires have been very quiet and provide a very comfortable ride on good roads. The stopping distances are initially a little longer than the well-worn previous Yokohama's. Not sure if this will continue to be the case. The 2005 Odyssey provides a lot of feedback for the driver, so these tires seem to be holding up their part of the bargain. Will update this review in the coming months. The fuel economy aspect has not been monitored.

First of all, its important to remember that car tires come in various classification. High Performance and Ultra-High Performance tires are designed for folks who take high speed turns, want the tightest handling, and need to zoom around town. I have a 2004 Camry SE and I run High Performance tires on it. The Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max is NOT a High Performance or Ultra-High Performance tire. Its classified as a Passenger tire - which means the tire emphasizes ride comfort and general performance. In other words, this isn't a tire designed to come around turn 3 on the high side and try to pass Jimmie Johnson. RIP #3!
I put this Goodyear Fuel Max on my 2007 Hyundai Entourage minivan. This van is a twin of the Kia Sedona. My factory installed Michelin Enerfy LX4 wore out at 40k miles. After driving 500 miles on my Goodyears, I can say that they are more comfortable, the ride is a little smoother. The Goodyears are slightly quieter than the old tires were. FInally, the mileage really did improve a bit. My city mileage went from about 15.5 to 16.7 and my highway mileage seems to have gone from 23.5 to 25.6. Not bad at all! Since I've driven only 500 miles, I can't rate the treadlife. But I'll be back in a few years to tell you!
Would I recommend these tires for a minivan? Absolutely. Would I recommend these tires for a car? Well .. only on the condition that you accept the fact that this isn't a high performance tire. I would buy this tire again!

Well, I went from bad to worse when I replaced the noisy Kumho tires with these Goodyears. They are beyond noisy -- even around town, they howl. By the time you hit 40 mph, the noise is defeaning. They're also badly cupped, despite my having rotated them (and rotated them again). They wear really well, but no way will I put up with the noise for as long as these tires will last. Hasta la vista, baby!

They are not the best in wet/snow conditions so slower driving is necessary. I did notice about a 2 mpg increase with these tires. We just put a set on a 08 Highlander and also noticed the fuel increase. The dealer changed 3 out of the 4 tires a bought because of a balancing issue and "thumping" felt from new. It helped a bit but have always had that thumping. For the price, you can't go wrong.

These tires came on my Honda as orginal equipment. Throughout their life they have performed as expected and I've had no issues with them at all. Cumulative fuel economy is 37.6 mpg with a 2.4L engine. I am not disappointed but cannot say if the tires contributed to this result. Wet and light snow performance has been very good even with more miles on the tires. I currently have 5/32 tread depth on them going into another winter season. I may replace them before the snow starts flying. No complaints with tire noise as others have mentioned. I would consider purchasing them again but will probably give Michelin a try.

I've been a Goodyear tire fan for many years. I have purchased four sets of them in the last three years, two each for my Buick and the wife's Ford van. The tripple treads are great performance tires and would be great for the driver who wears tires out in twenty thousand miles or less. After that mileage they are junk no matter how much tread is left! I exchanged them for the fuel max tires on both vehicles.They are nice riding tires and so quiet my wife almost got a speeding ticket by not realizing how fast she was going. Handling is fair, not nearly so possitive as the tripple treads were. If you drive on gravel roads at all DO NOT get these tires! The wear factor is through the roof plus the rubber compound is such that any little sharp object or stone will work it's way through the tread until you get a leak. If you get these tires, have your dealer fill them with anti-leak jell because you will need it sooner or later. There tread carcass area seems very thin on these tires. That is probably what makes them ride smooth and flex better for less rolling resistance. My wife's van has fifeteen thousand miles on the tires and they will need replacement before winter comes. Winter traction with these tires is marginal at best and not good enough to be trusted with your wife and grandkids driving alone. These tire lessons have soured me on Goodyears. Loyalty only goes so far! Buy with caution and low expectations.

OEM Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max wears incredibly well. At 35,000 I still have well over 1/2 tread remaining and near same performance as new. Wet grip is the best of any tire that I have experienced. Certain pavement patterns can get the tires to sing, but it isn't a common occurrence. I live in Michigan and the weather can be quite extreme in all seasons. Winter can be viscous, Last Spring we had over 3 months of almost daily rains and flooding. Three out of four seasons these tires are top tier. Winter over challenges these Goodyears. This tire is probably the worst performing cold weather tire that I have ever owned. Light snow is tough to navigate. Packed snow...if you have a slight incline, you can forget about getting any motion from a dead stop.
I do like these tires a lot. I just think that Winter conditions the Goodyear engineers forgot to include in the tread design. I would buy these tires again if I had another set of tires dedicated to Winter months.
