The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 is Goodyear's Max Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of high performance sports cars, coupes and sedans. In addition to being designed to deliver improved handling and steering response, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 features Goodyear ActiveBraking Technology to enhance stopping performance on dry and wet roads. However, like all summer tires, it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Goodyear's warranty states: "Ultra high-performance summer tires are not recommended for winter use, and tread or shoulder cracking on those tires resulting from winter use will not be covered under our warranty."

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's tread compound combines Goodyear race traction resins for dry grip, high surface silica for wet traction and high molecular weight polymers to optimize tread stiffness. This compound is molded into an asymmetric tread design with a wide, solid outboard shoulder to increase cornering traction and continuous notched inboard ribs to improve high speed stability. Goodyear's ActiveBraking Technology 3-dimensional tread element designs increase surface contact with the road to reduce stopping distances during heavy braking, while its wide circumferential grooves disperse water from the tire footprint.

The internal structure of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 includes twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide cord to enhance tread stability and high-speed capability. Goodyear's lightweight, racing-derived construction lowers unsprung mass to increase performance while their crossed plies casing improves steering precision, handling and stopping power.

...Their hydroplane resistance and wet grip are spectacular...

Bought a set of these for my 328i Coupe because they were on sale for a really good price. I have about 7k miles on them now and have never been happier with a set of tires. Their hydroplane resistance and wet grip are spectacular. Dry traction and performance is excellent as well. I highly recommend these tires. I wish now I had bought an extra set of rears while they were on sale. (staggered set up so no rotation)

...These tires are also excellent in the wet. The BFG's would easily slip and slide on wet roads, these F1's just stick. The level of adhesion is much higher...

Compared to the OEM Michelin MXM4's, and the BFG G Force Sports I had afterwards, these tires are leaps and bounds superior in every aspect. The noise level and driving comfort of these tires is excellent, so much quieter than both previous sets. Dry traction is much better. My car understeers much less than before and the limits are higher. These tires are also excellent in the wet. The BFG's would easily slip and slide on wet roads, these F1's just stick. The level of adhesion is much higher. Not sure how they will last as far as treadwear, but the performance so far is outstanding.

...In in the rain, these tires resist hydroplaning even in significant puddling when at highway speeds...

Bought these tires to replace Michelin PS2's as they are significantly cheaper and a newer generation. After several thousand highway miles and 3 track events the tires are wearing nicely. Even across all four without excessive edge wear. They grip better than the PS2's, recover better after hitting ABS and give really nice feedback approaching their limits. The car feels better balanced on these tires and rotates more predictably especially in low speed tight corners. On the highway these ride nicely although the noise level is about the same as the Michelin run flats. In the rain, these tires resist hydroplaning even in some significant puddling when at highway speeds. A great fit for the C6 Corvette owner seeking performance without breaking the bank.

...Dry traction is top-notch, feels comparable to my Toyo R1R's on my STR prepared Miata...

Standard tires on my 2013 Focus ST.
While only 1,000 miles on these tires I've owned enough cars over the years to make an effective evaluation.
Dry traction is top-notch, feels comparable to my Toyo R1R's on my STR prepared Miata.
Wet traction is very good, at least in warmer (above 55 degrees) weather.
Road noise is low for this level of performance.
Treadwear is negligible, even with spirited driving. However this could be partly due to the driving dynamics of the Focus ST. No body roll in corners and torque vectoring front diff so it doesn't grind the inside tire in corners under power.
Steering response is fantastic! Again this could be partly due to the dynamics of the Focus.
In summary, this is a top-shelf tire that deserves to be considered for any street performance vehicle, especially at this price.

...The handling in dry weather is outstanding. The BMWer steers and brakes better with the F1 set...

I upgraded my old 1998 BMW 328 to larger 225 45 17 tires & wheels. I have now driven the Goodyear Eagle F1s about 1300 miles. Very glad that I selected these tires. The handling in both dry and wet weather is outstanding. The BMWer steers and brakes better with the F1 set. They are also quiet. Given the 300 tread wear rating I do not expect super long tire life. I mostly drive this car on weekends so the performance vs. long life trade-off is acceptable. Highly recommended.
Note: Goodyear states that the F1 is only for summer/warm weather use. I have snow tires on another set of wheels for Maryland winters.

...Grip is great in the corners, and can only hardly get them to squeal on an off ramp in excess of 60mph...

These tires are an excellent value. Have only had them on for 8,000 miles or so, but haven't noticed any tread wear at all. Grip is great in the corners, and can only hardly get them to squeal on an off ramp in excess of 60mph. I will definitely be buying these tires again when the time comes.

...On-road comfort is on-par with similar summer tires, with road impacts reasonably absorbed and noise levels about average...

After mounting these Goodyears and driving approx. 1500mls, so far I've been mostly pleased with them. Although this was not purchased for my primary driver, these replaced a staggered set of ContiSportContact3s, which were very good all around. These Goodyears are stable at speed and while cornering, although they still lacked the at-the-limit grip levels of the Continentals and don't have quite as good feedback, although still very good. Braking distances are short, and rolling-resistance/fuel economy is a smidge better, likely due to its newer design. At-the-limit handling is predictable and stable, albeit with a bit more noise approaching the limits. On-road comfort is on-par with similar summer tires, with road impacts reasonably absorbed and noise levels about average. Not the best Max performance tire, but pretty good value for money.

...While cruising or just driving around, they have a springier feel to them that is less harsh than my previous Bridgestone RE050As so around-town comfort is good. When pushing the tires to the limits of adhesion on mountain roads, they track well and there is no squirm, so you can get comfortable with the car quickly. I'm a big fan of stiff sidewalls and these tires combine comfort and sport well...

I chose these tires over the popular Bridgestone S04s because I'd heard positive things and they were less expensive, and after about 5k mi on them I can say that they are good tires. I've had the opportunity to test them out from highway cruising to spirited mountain roads, and I like their character across the board.

While cruising or just driving around, they have a springier feel to them that is less harsh than my previous Bridgestone RE050As so around-town comfort is good. When pushing the tires to the limits of adhesion on mountain roads, they track well and there is no squirm, so you can get comfortable with the car quickly. I'm a big fan of stiff sidewalls and these tires seem to combine comfort and sport well.

In the dry they are great tires. In the wet they have been very dependable - no float or waver at all, but there's still plenty of tread on them. Fwiw, I usually replace tires on this car at 3/32.

So far they are wearing well and other than the slightest road noise with the windows down, there is nothing annoying or bothersome about them. As of now, I'd buy these Goodyears again.

I can't believe how good this tire was to me. Most other tires withe the way I drive only lasted 20k mi, but these still had fair tread after 52k mi. I keep them on year round, even in the snow... they aren't great on pack or powder snow but, it will get you around. Great tire, will continue to purchase them.

...The only positive is treadwear is very good for a high performance tire, 40K miles on the two remaining original tires so far...

Have nothing but problems with these OEM installed tires. Had balance issues shortly after vehicle purchase. They do not hold a balancing well at all. Have had two replaced due to inability to Road Force balance. The other two are borderline for Road Force Standards. This issue negatively impacts ride quality. Haave also had another replaced due to 18" side wall crack after only 10K miles. Ran a different set of rims with All Season Michelin Touring Tires and ride quality was much improved with only a slight penalty in responsiveness and at the limit handling. The only positive is treadwear is very good for a high performance tire, 40K miles on the two remaining original tires so far. I think the Michelin Pilot Super Sports would be a much better choice for this vehicle.

...So far the wear across the tread is uniform. I estimate I will squeeze 25k out of these - completely respectable for a tire of this caliber...

I just rotated these tires on my GTI after 5k of use. In summary, they are excellent. They are quiet and perform as a top-shelf summer tire should in both the dry and the wet. Cornering is stable, predicatable, and sure-footed. So far the wear across the tread is uniform. I estimate I will squeeze 25k out of these - completely respectable for a tire of this caliber. Hats off to Goodyear on this update to the original Eagle F1 Asymmetric. This new version is a big improvement and refinement over the original. I have no complaints.
