Eagle LS-2 tires are the second generation of Goodyear's "Luxury Sport" Grand Touring All Season tires developed to deliver a smooth quiet ride and all-season traction, even in light snow. And while this makes them an appropriate choice for many of today's domestic and imported luxury sedans, Goodyear Eagle LS-2 tires are also used as Original Equipment on minivans, crossovers, sport utility vehicles and specialty pickup trucks.

Eagle LS-2 tires have a symmetric, independent tread block design featuring computer-optimized block sizes to minimize tread noise for a quiet ride. Wide circumferential channels help evacuate water from beneath the contact patch to enhance wet traction while sipes provide hundreds of biting edges for traction in light snow. The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced by nylon (varies depending on size and speed requirements) for strength and high-speed durability.

Customers Say

Customer surveys indicate the Goodyear Eagle LS-2 excels in comfort, with many praising its smooth, quiet ride (scores 9-10). However, treadwear receives consistent criticism, with numerous reports of premature wear (scores 0-3). Winter traction is a noted weakness, particularly on ice and in deep snow, despite its all-season designation. Wet traction shows mixed results-some find it adequate for light rain, but hydroplaning concerns arise in heavy conditions. Dry traction stands out as a strength, with high marks for responsive handling and confident cornering (scores 7-10). Ideal for drivers prioritizing comfort and dry-road performance, though tread longevity and winter capability may disappoint.

...Dry traction is simply outstanding. Well controlled cornering, no horrid forays into understeer (or even oversteer - and lord knows I've tried to provoke oversteer!) as I've had with other truck tires. Twisty roads are entertaining and effortless...

OEM tires on this vehicle. Seems kind of dumb to put 55 series tires on a 4WD truck but they have acquitted themselves well. Best handling, quietest truck tires I've ever had in 20 years with pick-ups and SUVs. Excellent highway and city manners. There was little perceptible difference as the tires wore. Performance was even through the life of the tires.

Even with the 55 series tires, ride was not at all harsh or busy. The best description for these tires is that with them, the truck handles like a sedan on the road. Dry traction is simply outstanding. Well controlled cornering, no horrid forays into understeer (or even oversteer - and lord knows I've tried to provoke oversteer!) as I've had with other truck tires. Twisty roads are entertaining and effortless.

Southern California doesn't get much rain but when it does the roads are slick as all get out. Wet traction is surprisingly good even with the lightly loaded bed of a pick-up.

The tires were up to the light off roading I've done. Southern California Anza Borrego sandy washes, cobbles, and the like. I didn't stress them much in this aspect - they're really a on-road tire.

I have had outstanding performance out of Goodyear's with past vehicles. These probably could go another couple of thousand miles but are being replaced with a set of Wrangler AT Kevlars for their all-terrain tread. I would buy them again but am planning more off-road activities in the near future and think a somewhat more aggressive tire will serve my purposes better.

...For my driving style, the dry handling characteristics seems fairly good, not really any complaints...

Well, I've read through most of the reviews of this tire and am deciding to add one more to the mix. Though there are some that rate this tire as horrible and few rate this tire as excellent and a will buy again. I will have to say that I'm in the crowd of won't buy again based on treadwear for sure. However, I would like to point out that it would be nice to know what size tire and what infation pressures everyone are running. Reason I ask for tire size is due to the fact that some tires of the same exact brand but different sizes come with very different treadwear ratings. This makes a big difference when someone claims that they have over 80k vs someone stating that they only were able to get 25k, in addition to other factors of course. However, I looked up the specs for this tire and noticed that treadwear for all sizes except mine, 275/55-20, were in the 400's where as mine is 360. These tires are OEM on my GMC bought in July this year. I have been running at about 38-40 cold psi so far this summer and fall. Currently, I'm at just shy of 9mm left on tread after 5k miles, new was 12mm based on spec. I would say that I drive 80% hwy and I'm easy going to average driving style since I try to get the most MPG possible. Based on this, it looks like that this tire is only going to last me roughly 20k miles to the 3mm mark. I plan on reducing pressure to 32-35 during the winter season for any gains I can get on traction in the wet and snow. So far, I can only give my opinions based on dry traction as it's been pretty dry this summer and fall. For my driving style, the dry handling characteristics seems fairly good, not really any complaints. I will update more as I get into the winter season with wet and snow handling.

I question the validity of the other reviews about this tire. These have been rock solid and dependable on my Stratus and I dare to say I am very hard on my vehicles. I'm the guy playing Pole Position on the highway, launching off most lights and taking corners way too fast. The only reason I'm able to do this is because these tires allow me. They're Goodyear Eagles for cryin out loud. They're a performance tire and they DO perform. They've taken me through almost 40000 miles without an issue and I can probably squeeze another 4 or 5K out of them even having pounded my car and tires into submission. I don't get the Michelin fanboy club around here. It's really beyond me. Yes, Michelin's are a fine tire. But to quantify that it's twice as good in any way as the Goodyear Eagle lineup is ludacris. You buy this one, you'll be plenty satisfied and happy. No two ways about it.

...Barely any road noise and the ride comfort was good, even on the day I replaced them...

I bought my Impala brand new off the lot in 2006 with 200mi. on the car with these tires on them. Just recently I had to get my tires replaced. Even though I got a little over 32k out of them, instead of the 50K as advertised, they worked pretty good. I rotated my tires when needed. Someone told me they were only supposed to last 25K, but I got more treadlife out of them. The tires handled great in dry and in wet conditions. Snow conditions were not that bad. In deep and light snow it handled well. Barely any road noise and the ride comfort was good, even on the day I replaced them. I'm a college student, so I drive agressively/fast and drive the highway as much as possible, espeically when I take a day/weekend trip and drive in the city as well.

Overall, even though I didn't reach the advertised treadlife, I was satisfied with these tires and I would probably buy them again.

Just took the original 4 tires off at 81,000 miles - definitely needed replacement but felt I got good use out of them - purchased a new set of 4 of the same. The last 10-15K miles there was definitely noise at about 70mph (now not noticeable at all on the new tires). Overall, very satisfied with lifespan and quality.

...Wet traction is non-existent, ride is hard (even at 2 psi under recommended pressure)...

The worst set of tires I have ever owned. These were mounted on the vehicle by the dealership before I purchased the truck. Wet traction is non-existent, ride is hard (even at 2 psi under recommended pressure). Dry traction is only moderate, rear tires will spin when accelerating normally from a stop. So I have a four-wheel drive truck that I can't drive in winter weather. These tires are dangerous.

Terrible on wet roads. Tires would spin from stop with light touch on gas... As another reviewer wrote I cannot believe that Goodyear would sell a tire with such terrible wet traction.

Terrible tires on wet roads. Tires would spin from stop with light touch on gas. Ride was very harsh and noisier than the replacements I purchased. Tires had only 27,000 miles and still had tread left but I could not wait to get rid of them. Purchased a set of Kumho Solus TA71 here on TireRack and love the Kumhos. Great grip on wet and dry roads, nice ride and a lot quieter than the original equipment Goodyears. As another reviewer wrote I cannot believe that Goodyear would sell a tire with such terrible wet traction.

When I purchased my truck these tires were on it and they are horrible. If it is wet out then I have to slow down around corners and have to feather the throttle to keep my rear tires from losing traction. As for dry roads they are great but if it rains or snows then I would not recommend these.

...Snow and ice traction are abysmal, it's down right dangerous driving in winter conditions with these tires...

These are the O.E.M tires that came on my car, and I cant wait to replace them. Dry and wet traction are mediocre at best, it is very easy to spin the tires accelerating from a stop. Snow and ice traction are abysmal, it's down right dangerous driving in winter conditions with these tires. Tire noise after 20k miles are is unbearable. These are the worst set of tires I have ever owned period!

...It did not perform too well in ice or snow and tires would spin fairly often...

I think this tire performed exceptionally well on my vehicle in dry conditions. It was pretty quiet and responded very well, even if cornering over 45mph. It did not perform too well in ice or snow and tires would spin fairly often. My biggest gripe, and it will prevent me from purchasing again, is that I got the tires rated at 6/32 on treadwear after just 27k miles. I was looking to get closer to 40k at least out of these tires. I had them on the vehicle for just over 2 years now. I will definitely scope out an equal performance tire that is rated for higher longevity when I purchase this summer/fall.

...Also, probably the poorest tread wear Ive ever seen, for the price these tires are (dealer quoted me $175 mounted and balanced), youd think you get more than 32K miles on them... I think these tires might get to about 35K miles, but probably wont make 40K (dealer says there are 3/32 of tread at 31,450)...

Original equipment on the Quest, though not a bad traction tire on dry pavement, slips and skids a lot on wet pavement. Even with traction control, I consistently skid on wet pavement with these tires. Also, probably the poorest tread wear Ive ever seen, for the price these tires are (dealer quoted me $175 mounted and balanced), youd think you get more than 32K miles on them. Im switching to a Michelin probably, I certainly cant afford to pay $700 every 20 months for tires. The dealer blames it on the weight of the vehicle, but I had Michelins on an SUV and put close to 30K on those tires and they still looked brand new. I think these tires might get to about 35K miles, but probably wont make 40K (dealer says there are 3/32 of tread at 31,450). I wouldnt buy these or use them again if I can help it.

Typical Good Year terrible treadware. These came on my 2014 silverado 1500 20" wheels with 6.2 engine. 4wd. I haven't even put enough miles on the truck to rotate the tires. The rears show noticable wear. I plan to rotate before winter but with not even 6000 miles on them I am sure I will be replacing them before winter is over. Western NY is rather unforgiving at times, without good tires you're screwed. GM needs to research the tires they put on a $45,000 plus truck. I will not be replacing them with any kind of Good Year tire.

...Had Tires rotated every 10K miles and tires are just about ready to hit wearbars @ 36K miles...

Decent OEM Tire. Had Tires rotated every 10K miles and tires are just about ready to hit wearbars @ 36K miles. Ill probably wait til 40K and replace them with a 235/60 since these are the ONLY 225/65 TIRES ON THE PLANET! There are more choices at 235/60 and the diameter is only 1/2 inch smaller. As per usual, Goodyear wants to many $$ for this tire. If I could find a pair at $55 - $60 I might buy another pair, but I can get better performing Kuhmos for less or Bridgestones for just $10 more.
